Hey everyone, I just need some advice from some experienced players of both SMG 1 & 2. I am quite a big Mario fan and have recently bought SMG 2 and have been playing through it and really enjoying it. However I was wondering if you guys think its worth it to purchase the original aswell and describe any real differences? Im sure its a brilliant game, but I have heard it is less challenging than SMG 2 . If someone could give me their experienced opinion that would be brilliant, thanks guys :)
@Silver808s I haven't played SMG2 yet, I only managed to buy SMG two years ago, but I have to say, that Galaxy is a masterpiece and it's ABSOLUTELY worth getting if you own a Wii ;). I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you purchase the first Galaxy game! Some say the second game is as good, as the first one, some say it's a bit worse or better.
Anyway, I've heard that the first Galaxy is more "magic" and "space-like". Buy it and see for yourself and let me know what you think :).

i dont get why people love this game so much I really don't. I've always been a committed Nintendo fan(started with the snes) but to be honest galaxy disappointed me. I found it far too easy, completed the entire game with all the stars in one day. Fair enough it's been made noob-friendly but there should definitely be a difficulty setting so old skool gamers like me can get the challenging feel like how we did in Super Mario 64.

I don't get why people who claim that others who play Nintendo games aren't "true gamers". Just bc they play platform games that aren't hardcore violent and have brighter colors don't mean that they are "casual gamers" either. I started playing games in the SNES era while these little punks grew up in the "Halo" era. If anything, the casual gamer these days are FPS gamers who can't solve a puzzle or be able to play a single player game. Zelda > COD/BF/Halo.

FYI Wii came out a year after X360. It was like that - X360 (2005), Wii (2006), and PS3 (2006). That's why there is a competition between those systems. But still, you can't compare these consoles, while Nintendo is all about the innovation, and pure fun, Microsoft and Sony are trying to get the "mass" gamers. It's like music - X360 and PS3 are MTV/Viva/whatever music channel you have, and Wii is like jamendo, or small concerts. You have to grow up to see the greatness in it.

Just because someone plays an FPS doesn't mean they're against other games. I just got this a few days ago for my Wii and I don't talk shit all the time about Wiis. There was no change in art of character design or mechanics, no big shift in the premise besides the location and the introduction of a way to have different environment without having it be the Mushroom Kingdom again.

It's more of an attitude matter, I mean, I do love Mario, but Halo is a great game on its own too and calling Halo fans casual is as wrong as what was just disapproved. To each his own, huh.

They just don't get it, that the REAL gamers play all kinds of games. My first console was NES, so I came through all kinds of consoles, and I'm always looking for something new. What's new in, for example, Call of Duty? Nothing much. I hate those kids, who think they are gamers, because they play all the blockbusters. They probably don't even know anything about the games like Cave Story, Discworld Noir, or even The Neverhood. And they still think,that Wii is only for "family fun".

@Linukz I agree. ps3 and xbox360 was made five years after wii. Why is their competition with the three systems? It's like comparing Atari (forgive me if I misspelled that) with the nintendo 3DS

FYI Wii came out a year after X360. It was like that - X360 (2005), Wii (2006), and PS3 (2006). That's why there is a competition between those systems. But still, you can't compare these consoles, while Nintendo is all about the innovation, and pure fun, Microsoft and Sony are trying to get the "mass" gamers. It's like music - X360 and PS3 are MTV/Viva/whatever music channel you have, and Wii is like jamendo, or small concerts. You have to grow up to see the greatness in it.

@Linukz I play CoD and CSS and such but I think you're generalizing two different groups of people with one negative assumption. Just because someone plays an FPS doesn't mean they're against other games. I just got this a few days ago for my Wii and I don't talk shit all the time about Wiis. You also can't just summarize all FPS genre games with CoD...that game is pretty bad in general. When you think about what you're saying you're not being much different from the obsessive CoD tards.

I absolutely love this game.
It shows exactly what's needed to make a quality game in a long running series. To take what you have and simply refine it to make it better.
There was no change in art of character design or mechanics, no big shift in the premise besides the location and the introduction of a way to have different environment without having it be the Mushroom Kingdom again.
Take what you have an make it better.
Mario 64 was the first lesson in that and this is the master class.

I don't get Mario. The games have no story, bad plot, boring pointless flat characters, boring gameplay, no dialog, bad graphics, game mechanics suck, and are really fucking repetitive. It's the same thing every game rescue princess peach, kill bowser, collect stars, stomp on a gooba, it's just a depressing game. I know I'm probably going to get flak for this but I don't give a fuck. I'm just stating my opinion and I'm tired of all the fanboyism.
