Even before the Internet, I knew who Mabel Normand was. How can you interview someone about Mabel without doing a little research on who she was? The film clip was horrid quality, but that was pretty common back then. And the Hays Office wasn't even established yet! What an ass.

This interview is complete rubbish! Ms. Fussell wrote complete nonsense, wasted my time and misused my personal material and the family archives which I leant to her in good faith. She is an embarrassment to Mabel Normand's memory and good name as well as to the Normand family. This video should be struck off this site for bad taste. Ms. Fussell dishonours her contract to pay the 20% royalties I am entitled to. Please DO NOT buy this book.
hey, I heard of you. supposedly there was a curse associated with mabel's house your family lived in which caused deaths hollywood is indeed a tainted horrible place
@mabelstephen Could you please explain what happened? I'm interested in knowing what this woman did, what she got wrong, and is there a better book out there? I love Mabel Normand and would like more real information on her.
Hoo boy. This interview was conducted in 1982 before the internet was available to so many. And for years after the internet became more widely accessible, there was much less content.
Lots of movie culture, especially from this particular era, was virtually inaccessible for 60 years, and therefore forgotten, before it was made accessible to anyone with a passing interest via the internet.
Too bad Geoff did not do a little research before conducting this interview. His questions reveal his ignorance of Mabel Normand and result in a superficial interview that Ms. Fussell politely tries to add some substance to. The poorly chosen (and murky) clip shows off Chaplin more than Normand's comic abilities but neither do anything interesting. And Norma was such a talent!
Thanks for educating me more about another REAL MOVIE STAR. Love to see more of these past people on utube. Might look out for this book. Thanks for posting this interview. More more more.....

@gablefan01 I am not sure what your point is but the Hays office was established in 1923.

I don't like the definitions she gave for Spirituelle and Valumptuous.
They are really more like
Spirituelle - a virginal, demure, shy girl with morals, a christian, ect. Mary Pickford type.
Valumptuous- a sexual, sensual, sometimes trampy Mae West/Theda Bara type girl.

Great video clip and I've given you five stars. I've created a video clip featuring Mabel Normand and many other 1920's movie stars.
