I'm not judging the aunt like many of you. Reason is - she also suffered through great trauma. She is scarred emotionally. We don't know if she's even getting or have gotten counseling. You cannot expect a traumatized person to think logically and feel objective about something. To aunt, Nick's face may remind of sister and niece's murderer. His voice may be similar to father's, etc. It's hard to be objective about this and we should not judge her for being unable to deal with her own pain.
I think the step aunts letter was pretty cold. She mentioned three times in it how Nick needs to get help, says she's not ready to forgive (what does this half to do with Nick???)
@cmcd4322, I don't think that the step-Aunt is having trouble "forgiving" Nick; it's the entire situation. Also, it was Nick's father, who Nick may look like, and that would be tough for the step-Aunt to get passed. She clearly has no ill-feeling to Nick himself. (which is good & great for Nick to know).
Wait... The father of a woman who works on the Dr. Phil Show was a serial killer?!?!

I think the cold-hearted bitch of a step-aunt needs help more than Nick does. Shame on her for telling him she needs to forgive him!!!

What does Nick have to do with the killing?? Why does she have to forgive him for something he never did?? He was a child - what does a child know!?

I agree - why does she have to forgive Nick? She should embrace him. He is an innocent victim.

I don't think his aunt was referring to forgiving Nick. It seemed to me that she meant forgiving Michael, Nick's father.
