I'm incredibly disappointed that people would go to such lengths to discredit the President of the United States. Whether you like him or not, give the man respect. HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. He has the most stressful job in the nation and one of the most stressful, if not the most, in the world. If you disagree with his politics, that's your opinion but the office of the Presidency and those who have ascended to that position need to be given every degree of respect.

I don't get why Americans think western Europe is socialist. The leaders of Western Europe - Cameron (Britain), Sarkozy (France), Merkel (Germany) and Berlusconi (Italy) are all conservatives. Free health care does not equal socialism.
One of the biggest reasons Europeans are healthier than the U.S. is that we here in the U.S. eat in excess. We take almost everything in a Super size and in most cases that I have seen, me included, if it is easy to walk to then why walk when you can drive. Public health care is not the reason for Europeans being healthier, it is that here in the U.S. our lunches consist of Carbs, Carbs, Carbs and when we are done with the day then Beer, Beer, Beer and very little to no exercise.

And how banks and loan corporations got rich by selling off these bad risk loans. Government has to take some of the blame however I wonder who the lobbyists were that talked the government into approving that legislation? How are we supposed to save money when he starts all these new government programs, spends billions to close Gitmo, and gives billions more in bailouts to GM only to see GM file bankcruptcy later (which essentially wasted our taxpayer dollars)? Agreement to pay it back? Are you sure that deal still stands now that they've filed bankcruptcy? As far as I know, once a company does that, all debts are defaulted. But, I could be wrong. What I do know is that the Republicans wanted to run a government organized bankcruptcy for GM that would've helped them out more. Only thing is the liberals don't want their poor UAW workers out of a job, so they let the company run into the ground instead of implementing a real solution.
I believe that they were cleared of their debts, but not of the bail out money. they have no choice to pay it back, however, as part of the company is under government control. I don't get why Americans think western Europe is socialist. The leaders of Western Europe - Cameron (Britain), Sarkozy (France), Merkel (Germany) and Berlusconi (Italy) are all conservatives. Free health care does not equal socialism.

One of the biggest reasons Europeans are healthier than the U.S. is that we here in the U.S. eat in excess. We take almost everything in a Super size and in most cases that I have seen, me included, if it is easy to walk to then why walk when you can drive. Public health care is not the reason for Europeans being healthier, it is that here in the U.S. our lunches consist of Carbs, Carbs, Carbs and when we are done with the day then Beer, Beer, Beer and very little to no exercise.

That's an exaggeration. China does not own this country, we've sold a ton of bonds to them, but they still do not own the country. Get your facts straight. Corporations and banks did not get us into this mess. It was the new regulations put in place by Congress in 2006. It was the liberals who forced banks to give loans to people who wanted expensive houses but could not afford them. You say it was the greed of corporations and banks that killed us? And how banks and loan corporations got rich by selling off these bad risk loans. Government has to take some of the blame however I wonder who the lobbyists were that talked the government into approving that legislation? Fact is, anyone who has brains should be able to figure out what they can afford and what they can't. If you're looking to barely squeeze by through getting tight interest rates, you're being stupid. Another thing also, Bush may have started the financial problems, but Obama is making them worse. How are we supposed to save money when he starts all these new government programs, spends billions to close Gitmo, and gives billions more in bailouts to GM only to see GM file bankcruptcy later (which essentially wasted our taxpayer dollars)? You can talk all you want about Bush making mistakes on economy, but Obama is far worse. Our deficit is going to skyrocket with his plans.

Agreement to pay it back? Are you sure that deal still stands now that they've filed bankcruptcy? As far as I know, once a company does that, all debts are defaulted. But, I could be wrong. What I do know is that the Republicans wanted to run a government organized bankcruptcy for GM that would've helped them out more. Only thing is the liberals don't want their poor UAW workers out of a job, so they let the company run into the ground instead of implementing a real solution.

I believe that they were cleared of their debts, but not of the bail out money. they have no choice to pay it back, however, as part of the company is under government control. Granted, it was mostly GM's fault that nothing was done to prevent a collapse, and this was due to a lack of supervision over the ways they were spending money, this goes for all the banks and other auto companies as well

It is partly GM's fault for their demise, but all I've gotta say is that when you can't even close a factory without the UAW giving the okay first, of course you're going to suffer. All the UAW cares about is keeping their people employed. They don't give a care to how the company. So, of course they'll never okay a closing of a plant. Now, take a look at Honda and Toyota. They have no unions, and look how well they're doing. Us stupid Americans can't seem to learn from them.

Well, I'm glad we agree on something. And, yeah, I'm not a big fan of American cars either, especially Ford. Pontiac and Saturn do have nice designs, though I don't know how well either runs. Chevy is probably the only American car (aside from sports and luxury vehicles) that is any good. Though, I personally prefer Toyota or Hyundai.
