The Amtrak Dome Car is called the Great Dome and I actually road it in on Amtrak's Surfliner train from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo in year 2009.

@CoastStarlight11 Yeah, this train only stops in Colfax in the rare special case that there's a passenger to pick up or drop off. Thanks for the info, I didn't know it was the Great Dome. I still think Wayne Yetter's Plaza Santa Fe is better, I'll be riding it I think this January on the VCRail dot com snowflake trip.

I wondered why the train did not stop in Colfax, I thought you were on the Zephyr at first but it turned out you were on the Fun Train.

BTW: I have shot Amtrak engine 116 an insane amount of times over the years track side on Amtrak's Coast Starlight.

Thanks much for posting this. I took this once, some time ago...in the '90s and realize now I need to do it again. We usually do the car drive aound this area 2-3 times a year and it's beautiful no matter how it's viewed, but you took some great shots doing this and I want to see the snow again from these angles. You also have a great way of narration. Thanks again.

@wally1435 I posted before watching the video all the way to the end. Though I recall this route, very likely it was not this specific train, with the bear attached at the front. Still, you've inspired me to want to take this ride again, through the snow, so I'll do more research w/Amatrack about how to schedule this.
