I have dual citizenship; every summer I go there, I visit the Ministry of Labor and drop off resumes. The day I get called and someone in my family pulls strings, my ass is outta' here believe me!! My wife , Belizean-born,loves Spain and has many friends there as well and boy does she hate Yanquis because they're a bunch of fuckin' hypocrites. I got five years to retire in the meantime then we're out of this fuckin' fascist pigpen if I don't get lucky beforehand. That answer your question?
I teach English for a living in Southeast Asia, and believe me when I say that only a handful of people in Asia (4 billion people) speak Spanish. At least a billion people across Asia are studying English, whereas only about 10 million are learning Spanish. The point is that English is the only global language, whereas Spanish is confined to only a dozen or so nations and places. I do, however, encourage all Americans to learn Spanish, as it is useful if you travel south of the border.
@orb24 And... The most richest literatures in World are wrote in Spanish: "Moral Social - by Eugenio María de Hostos - and "El Quijote" - by Miguel de Servantes. The next on list is the Bible - traduced in German by Martin Luther and first printed (just the first printed public version) -, and Koran - wrote in Arabic Language.
When did it become bad to speak Spanish in the United States, Spanish has always been spoken in the southwest. When did english become the official language. Last time I checked by history Spanish was spoken in places of the United States before english, therefore making it more official than english. Since it has more status officially than english. However Spanish is safe and will continue to grow, So Hispanic bros. don't worry Spanish isn't going anywhere.
@orb24 Don't forget to mention how the United States cheated Spain out of Florida just like they cheated Louisiana from France, not to mention starting wars with Mexico and STEALING ALL their lands (never mind what they did to the Native Americans). White American Gringo fuckers are so full of shit!!! You're right: SPANISH WILL BE PERMANENT HERE!!!!!! Que se vallan los puto Gringos al carajo!!!
after they got rid of the english only proposal that lasted 13 years (1980-1993). miami main language is spanish and also changed the face of miami dade county forever. today hispanics according to the 2010 census is over 65% of the county population. so, spanish is the main language of miami dade county. a language that you can hear everywhere. the arrival of cuban refugees on the mariel boatlift back in 1980 originated this controversial issue.
Obama tells us we need to learn other languages. He’s embarrassed for us. I for one could care less what Obama thinks; I’m doing perfectly well speaking one language. I’m sick of politions getting voting into office then looking down his nose at me. How do U say, “I wanna cut his nuts off” in Spanish? OK that’s all for now, the spell check says all my English words R spelled properly, except Barack & Obama, R these some of them foreign words that he wants me to learn?
Talk about an obvious pandering to another racial minority! This is so blatant its not funny.
Remember, to Obama America is a racist hell-hole dominated by whites that do nothing more than vote Republican, cling to their religion and their guns, and now put down Hispanics too!
Besides, alot more people speak Chinese...like moi'!
Yes, we're a country of immigrants and different nations, but you know what? als ik wil alleen in het nederlands spreken, you wont understand me!
@dayron25 "Culture"??? Don't make me laugh' por favor. America doesn't have a REAL culture!!! LOL Unless you're referring to hotdogs, hamburgers, rock n roll and Hollywood and the "art" of getting fat and stupid, oblivious to the world around them...no me jodas, cono! Latinos are doing Miami a favor! I was there in 2004 with my wife during a cruise stopover, I spoke (and love speaking) Spanish throughout my visit , enjoying la Calle Ocho..It was beautiful, and I DO plan to return!
@ursa41 you mean you don't even live in Miami?? go figure! tu ni sabes de lo que estas hablando! even the old cubans who have lived here for 40/50 plus years say that this place has turned to shit! and YES! we do have a culture in all corners of the country, culture that has been mixed in from different nationalities, but still found a way to make it "american" whether it be country music in the south, French cajun food in Louisiana, the Amish of Pennsylvania, or Native American PowWow..
@dayron25 Most people in Miami barely even know what any of these things are or that they even form part of the USA. say what you will about the rest of the country, but at least they have PRIDE in being born/raised in this country. Most people here don't give three damns about anything north of Palm Beach County, they just don't care! and that's where the separatist mentality of the "Miamense" comes in.
@ursa41 well mijo thats because you went as a tourist, which is the best way to experience Miami, but for someone who has spent 21 years in Dade County, its not as nice as tv presents it mijo, don't be fooled.
@dayron25 I respect your point of view, but the fact remains that, even though I was born here to Spanish immigrants, I never once felt 'American". I travel to Spain every year to visit family and friends, no one suspects I'm "American" ( rarely do as my Spanish does not betray an accent unlike Gringos who can't speak for shit). Most of everybody there believes America has NO culture, and is ignorant; they say if it did, they wouldn't be so culturally-insensitive now, would they??
@ursa41 lets not talk about Spain because Spain has its own cultural identity problem...please! Catalans want independence, Basque want independence, Galecians don't consider themselves Espanhois and they resent Espanholistas, and not to mention that they are all a bunch of hipocrits since they call ALL South Americans "sudacas" as an insult and see them as lower then dirt. Spain has their own shit to fix first before they can give us cultural advice.
@dayron25 Maybe so, but the entire world has one thought in common: the U.S. is a mayor fuckin' exploiter of every goddamn in the world so don't even go there!!! Catalans, Basques and we Gallegos may have our own issues, but when it comes to facing up against this country, they'd unite. BELIEVE ME, I FUCKIN' KNOW CAUSE I'VE SPOKEN WITH FRIENDS FROM THERE TOO...SO DON'T EVEN GO THERE, ALRIGHT???
@ursa41 you don't even consider yourself an american so why should I even bother arguing?? my advice, if you're happier in Spain, then para Espana mi hermano! vete pero ya! si no resistes este pais, pues vete a sumbar a otro lado. I have nothing against Spain, I'll be going there soon as a matter of fact, but I ain't ganna sit here and let you just talk shit about us "gringos" you're no better than people here in Miami. good day.
@dayron25 "Us gringos"--man, you sound like what we call an "Imitation Latino". Going to Spain? Better not talk like that, you won't be appreciated. Yeah, I'm wasting my time talking to you as well. Estas jodido, de verdad. Lo siento muchissimo por ti. Never met a Latino like you before in my entire life that talked like that...that's sad, bro! Hasta nunca, cono!
@ursa41 I know how to behave in countries where I set foot unlike some people, I do not talk politics (unless someone wants to have an INTELLIGENT conversations NOT blowouts) and I keep an open-mind, and I remember that I'm in THEIR country. And yes, I'm a Latino, pero yo no dejo que me ciegue la passion, I also consider myself a multicultural person, and I analyze things differently. you call me whatever you want, I know who I am... vale tio?
The maker of this video should look at the rate of English acquisition and Spanish language loss that is occurring among US-born Hispanics in Miami. Are there a lot of people who don't speak English in Miami? Yes, thousands, but what would you expect in a city where more than half of the population is foreign born. Yet look at their children and you will see that in the vast majority of cases English is the preferred and dominant language.
if you try to make Spanish a forbidden language, latinos will rebel and will speak Spanish at a greater rate, irritating the ass off the fucking xenophobic.
English is safe and sound, so DO NOT FUCKING PANIC!!!
It is imperative to learn the language of the country one plans to reside in. Although, "I" do believe that perhaps Spanish should be considered as a second language; considering the fact of how many Latinos/Hispanics reside in the U.S. By far this ethnic/ratio is the largest. Also considering how close Mexico, the Caribb. Islands & S. America is to our border. Come on morons, figure it out. Think about it, how many states are actually names that are in "fact" Spanish! Get a clue!
@EuroMix80 Yap ur absolutely right. There are a lot of US states that are spanish/ latino named like California, Florida. Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico as during spanish times Nueva Mejico, Texas, Nevada. Cities like San Farncisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, El Paso, Santa Fe and etc.
This is sad. I disagree with USA in every single aspect. Politically, mentally, economically, ect but one thing i hate is for others to speak the language of another country in a country they are citizens with. I am latino and its disrespectful to speak spanish in USA and disrespectful to speak english in Mexico or South America. Apparently you don't realize much. Many people care.
