  • The League hit #10 in Billboard, 7-12-80. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week!

  • David Sanborn also played on the Eagles song "I Can't Tell You Why"

  • @saudirobert

You mean "The Sad Cafe"; "I Can't Tell You Why" had no sax part; the solos were Don Felder's guitar.

  • A gem from Pure Prairie League! I didn't know or realize Vince Gill sang lead on this recording until a few years ago! Peaked on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1980!

    Bravo, Pure Prairie League!

  • This a great song and band . I'm wondering who drew their album covers with the cowboy . They're very cool.

  • I love this song and this group, they were favs from back in the '70's and I had a major crush on the lead singer-Vince Gill!! This was on an infomercial a few days ago and I DVR'd it just to watch Vince with his long, wavy hair sing this song for just a few seconds!! LOL!! Sure wish someone would post that performance!

  • @scottygirlify I KNOW THE INFOMERCIAL IN WHICH YOU SPEAK YOU MUST BE TALKING ABOUT THE PURE 80'S WITH JACK WAGNER ...LOL

  • @jamminmusicman Yep that is the one I'm talkin about LOL!!

  • @scottygirlify I LOVE THAT INFOMERCIAL TOO UMMM... I WATCH IT LIKE EVERY NIGHT AFTER MIDNIGHT ! LOL

  • @scottygirlify There is a vid on youtube of PPL on "Solid Gold" with Vince on Lead Vocals singing the song "I'm almost ready". He's probably about 23 in that video, shoulder length wavy hair and a beard. The title of the vid is - Solid Gold '80-'81 / Pure Prairie League - it's 8 mins, but PPL is only in the first 3 mins

  • @soapchickssoapvids Thanks for the info, haven't checked in for a while; just watched the "Solid Gold" vid, Vince was such a cutie!!

  • You've got to hand it to PPL for their album cover art work. Don't know who deserves credit but certainly credit is due!

  • And the saxophone player ?

Jazz music fans will know this guy -- David Sanborn.

  • @76carmel RE:David Sanborn, Never knew that--thanks for that info. Maybe I'll redo the video and include pics of him during the bridge.

  • A great country/pop crossover.

  • Never mind I just found one! He was on solid gold!!

  • When Vince's hair was long and he looked like a kid!! Unfortunately I can't find any live performances of him with Pure Prairie League in those days....it'll pop up some time I'm sure!

  • Vince has the "voice" to make you just "SIGH" and say "AAGHH"...::)

  • Firin' Up is the best country pop album for me

  • I never knew Vince Gill was with a band, I've always known him as a single artist. Wow, how surprising!

  • I remember this song!! Thanks for posting!

  • @Henrytheape Anytime, sweetie!
