How to defend a corner? Shouldn't it be titled, how to pass a corner ball back out to the player who just took it so he can try again? thats all it looked like the defender was doing.
Just wondering, wouldnt it be unsafe for the goalie to come out? My soccer/football coach tells our goal keeper to stay in the box and that it's the full/halfback's job for clearing it.
@Dinomonst1 it really depends on the situation I think. Like, I've been a keeper for only a year so when it comes to defending corners, I'm very conservative and stay in the box, just because this puts greater distance between me and ball so I have more time to react. I think for more outgoing/gutsy keepers, leaving the box is alright if they know they'll get it.
i thought you were suppose to be slightly on the further side of the attacker so you have more time to react and clear the ball, also take away the option of the ball over the top where the attacker would get more of the goal to shoot at?
jeez guys everyone is complaining. he is a PRO soccer coach dont argue with him....you all just cant take the fact that he probably knows more about soccer than you (and me)
@ilovechewy123 a european cup winner,fa cup winner ,league cup winner, top goal scorer in a great everton side two seasons off the bounce and top goal scorer in many other teams are just a few of his acheivements.its like me trying to preach about an american footballer or some other sports person in an american game saying he is useless when i dont have a clue m8,well said bud!!
@darrenb608 Dude get over it. It's the way you make your voice box vibrate when you say it. Football, soccer, it's how you feel inside your whole body when you say it that matters.
that's exactly what I meant. Keepers use one handed overhead throws.... we're tlaking about a keeper, saying it's an overhead throw, so evidently it's one handed...
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD This called "FOOTBALL" not "SOCCER"

1. No information on why the defender is in the position he is in.
2. No mention on what to do when there are 6+ bodies in the box.
3. No mention of the roles of the guys that are put on the posts
4. No mention on what to do if the offender wanders to the far most then tries to sprint to come across the face of you.
I wonder how well this team is doing in their league.

danielmingyanyeung 2 years ago 82
not really, really keepers should be able to reach at least the half way line with an overhead throw... We didn't see him do anything near that far.
xsaradriver1 2 years ago
@xsaradriver1 lol not with an overhead throw
Dallebo 2 years ago
uuhhh overhead throws are those which go the furthest and if you've ever watched football you'd know pros can hit the halfway line with one.
xsaradriver1 2 years ago
overhead throw like a throw in? hell no.. one armed throws go furthest
Dallebo 2 years ago
that's exactly what I meant. Keepers use one handed overhead throws.... we're tlaking about a keeper, saying it's an overhead throw, so evidently it's one handed...
xsaradriver1 2 years ago
yeah but sometimes keepers throw like a throw in.. i thought that was what u meant
Dallebo 2 years ago
Never seen a keeper throw like a throw in. that would look really odd and i've been watching/playing the sport intensively for a decade.
xsaradriver1 2 years ago
they do it when theres a player close and they have to start an attack quickly
Dallebo 2 years ago
@danielmingyanyeung i know theres a keeper in my tem that throws farther then he can kick lol
