@gutts077 I don't think like that, it's what happens to bands because people are hypocrites. Look at In Flames...their musicianship hasn't changed, but everyone bitches about their change of style. Before that happened, everyone asked the same question: "Why doesn EVERYONE like these guys". Then they came out with clayman and people started bitching about them selling out...sigh...

On the 1st of October 2011, we as Insomnium fans will all watch the video for 'Down with the Sun' to give it more hits and get it to that 1million mark.
Insomnium have written the most beautiful music for their fans and it is time we gave them something back.
The raw emotion, passion and meaning that go into EVERY instrument in EVERY second of EVERY song is just almost too much to comprehend. Everything Insomnium does is a masterpiece, just far beyond perfect. Just listening to a single song is enough to reduce a person to tears, or just infuriate the. However Insomnium bring something that just...opens up your mind to yourself, I can only see it as a meditative state. Everything becomes clear, and only the beauty of the music becomes real.
This song... fuck that... this BAND are perfect. There is no such thing as a bad Insomnium song. Every time I hear their music I get that feeling of being one with everything... Like nobody is superior, everyone just loves everyone. Everyone can then enjoy the world to equal amounts. Not only that, but to me, all of Insomnium's lyrics revolve around the love of your life (just my interpretation). So to me, I think of her everytime I hear Insomnium.
Everynight before I go to sleep. I play at least one Insomnium song. It is a MUST. I turn out the lights and open the window and stare into the sky, at the stars and the moon and I feel like I am already detached from this world and somehow all the things I own becomes meaningless. It just takes me somewhere far away, in a world of my own so peaceful, beautiful and natural. And that is what I honestly feel when I listen to Insomnium.
I remeber first discovering this band severall years ago now by typing in "At The Gates" as in the band and eventually stumbled across this song... never looked back since. such a great band fucking love them!

I guess,sometimes when you listen to metal you forget about your life,about your duties about who you are and what you do and you go to another place far away from your usual normal life...somewhere where everything is perfect....somewhere in the middle of the mountains where no human being has ever set foot....well at least that's what i feel when i listen to metal and especially when i listen to Insomnium.
This is one of the greatest melodic death metal bands I've ever listened too in my life.

I once listened to "In The Groves of Death" from Insomnium and what i dreamed was so amazing, kinda like you described, a big grassland and a stream and everything was perfect - Makes you want to live like this in some way, Melodic Death Metal is Pure Awesomeness
@Extremdebuff Exactly. People who bash it just don't understand it. Melodic death metal (depending on the band but in this case, Insomnium) is the deepest, most imaginative and most emotion-evoking music ever.
The music paints a clearer picture than other genres, regardless of whether you can understand or have read the lyrics.
@pspvampire U are right - My friend and i decided to found a band with me as the guitarist, and i wanted to do melodic death, unfortunately he doesnt like it at all cuz he listens to thrash metal all the time and only knows melodic death metal with keyboards and says thats gay... what a prejudice (with the keyboard)
Music taste can be problematic at times. When you're in a band I guess you can't be to picky. Just try to combine influences or alternatively play stuff you personally want to play sometimes and play stuff he wants to play other times. Nothing wrong with being diverse. lol

Sometimes this world seems like it's full of horrible, greedy, sociopathic shitheads, but then I read your message and I see that humanity and the word-alike might have a chance. That's how I was when I first started listening to Metal. But after I found bands like Kalmah, Ensiferum, and Skyfire, it seemed to grow on me. Now I prefer the death metal growl. If you haven't listened to Ensiferum, you should to understand where I'm coming from.

Absolutely incredible song! Best song on an amazing album! I discovered this band 4 years ago through a friend and still to this day believe they are the best Melodic death metal band going around! Every change in this song is better than the last and the journey through the bridges are full of musical colour! I f**kin dig Insomnium man!

The top rated comment makes a very good point. This song indeed is art. Unlike most music you hear these days, this is an actual masterpiece. Insomnium are true virtuosos and I don't see how anyone can not recognise that.
@pspvampire Everything appeals to everyone differently. Just because I prefer the color red to blue doesn't mean everyone else has to appreciate it the way I do. And not everyone listens to bands for their talent but rather the way the music makes them feel, that's why I don't feel it's right to belittle anyone.
@pspvampire Virtuosos ? lmao. Yngwie Malmsteen is a virtuoso, John Petrucci is a virtuoso, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert and many more guitarists are virtuosos. Not Insomnium. Mikael Stanne is a virtuoso, Tomas Haake is a virtuoso. Being a virtuoso means your playing and writing skills with your instrument are far beyond almost anyone who can play that specific instrument. This music is written by ordinary musicians, don't think that I say that to insult Insomnium or anyhing =) still the music is gr8.
@ELEMENTALW1 I am aware of what virtuosos are but in my opinion, Insomnium are virtuosos of this style. Niilo is a perfect death vocalist with some of the greatest lyrics I have ever heard, with archaic English, tributes to great poets and with references to even ancient Greek tragedies such as Medeia. Ville and the other Ville (lol) are an excellent guitar duo fully capable of writing diverse melodies, their harmonies are meticulous and powerful and of course, full of emotion. :)
I don't understand why someone would dislike this. There are no faults with this music, even fags who cant take brutal like cannibal corpse shouldn't hate this. Its not hardcore or anything, its amazing music.
I don't get how everyone argues over what is the best genre of music. I think all musicians who put time and effort in their songs and sing about something worthwhile are worth of an applause.
Insomnium Is another amazing band. I wish music like this would be played more often on the radio. All you here is songs about fucking and "dropping it hot". To me, that makes no sense whatsoever. Damn, people do not understand real music. Metal is the best, always will be. Fuck everyone who puts it down. Metal actually makes sense, even if you can't understand what they are saying at times, that is what lyrics are for my friends.

@xBleedingTears666x - Guitar is to distortion as Vocals are to distortion. If people complain so much about not being able to understand the vocals,, punch them in the face and say do you understand the notes being played on guitar?

The top rated comment makes a very good point. This song indeed is art. Unlike most music you hear these days, this is an actual masterpiece. Insomnium are true virtuosos and I don't see how anyone can not recognise that.

@pspvampire Everything appeals to everyone differently. Just because I prefer the color red to blue doesn't mean everyone else has to appreciate it the way I do. And not everyone listens to bands for their talent but rather the way the music makes them feel, that's why I don't feel it's right to belittle anyone.

@pspvampire Virtuosos ? lmao. Yngwie Malmsteen is a virtuoso, John Petrucci is a virtuoso, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert and many more guitarists are virtuosos. Not Insomnium. Mikael Stanne is a virtuoso, Tomas Haake is a virtuoso. Being a virtuoso means your playing and writing skills with your instrument are far beyond almost anyone who can play that specific instrument. This music is written by ordinary musicians, don't think that I say that to insult Insomnium or anyhing =) still the music is gr8.

@ELEMENTALW1 I am aware of what virtuosos are but in my opinion, Insomnium are virtuosos of this style. Niilo is a perfect death vocalist with some of the greatest lyrics I have ever heard, with archaic English, tributes to great poets and with references to even ancient Greek tragedies such as Medeia. Ville and the other Ville (lol) are an excellent guitar duo fully capable of writing diverse melodies, their harmonies are meticulous and powerful and of course, full of emotion. :)

Instead of a Metal rebellion i propose a new plan.
1. Instead of bashin other metal artists, we need to unite. We cant fight against pop music if we arent even together.
2. Watch more and other metal videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list
3. Instead of bashing pop, promote metal with logical reasons, not just "METAL RULES!!"

Insomnium Is another amazing band. I wish music like this would be played more often on the radio. All you here is songs about fucking and "dropping it hot". To me, that makes no sense whatsoever. Damn, people do not understand real music. Metal is the best, always will be. Fuck everyone who puts it down. Metal actually makes sense, even if you can't understand what they are saying at times, that is what lyrics are for my friends.

Btw, everyone of the members of Insomnium has a master study (or however u call a university graduation in English^^) - Shoulda kill the person who invented Core/Mainstream=/
