Flying the heavies solo is neither fun nor easy.

That's why I use voice control for FSX & FS9 known as "Multi Crew Experience".

I can bark voice commands to the virtual co-pilot, and presto he executes. Can also talk to ATC controllers.

Since a fully working demo is available for download, you only need a headset with microphone to check it out :-))

737 is a great plane - there is a problem with the 737 - there has been for many years but boeing refuse to fix the problem - i belive it is one of the most common planes out there at the minute - i fly on one nearly every year - i cant believe boeing wont fix the problem!!!!!

You have a limited startoff area which is San Fransisco International Airport. But you can land anywhere in the world. But buy it! Its a very good program! And its not expensive! I have downloaded it because i bought it to fs2004 and didnt use it because fs2004 sucked :P But its very hard to install if you download it so you need to be pro to do it. My recommendation is to buy it!

I just set those malfunctions up, just like that.

But taking into account, that shit happens in THE REAL LIFE TOO, no one knows ...

As far as I remember, i set up:

1. both engines fire

2. both engines complete failure within next few minutes

3. complete hydraulics failure

4. complete aileron failure [because of 'imagined' heavy turbulence, bad luck and manufacturing defect]

5. complete electricity failure

Why would you cancel IFR? That makes no sense. First, you weren't in VFR conditions in order to legally cancel, and second, cancelling affords you nothing. The controllers could give you vectors to the nearest airport, or, had it been real life, they could have given you possibly a PAR or ASR approach. Just curious why you chose to throw that in there...

Because this Sim/Game is stupid and not canceling IFR would keep the controller giving me vectors to my IFR destination, forcing me to climb to assigned altitude etc..

Cancelling IFR was [in that situation, in this game] the only posibility to say that I cuoldn't continue.

Of course they wouldn't allow me to do VFR landing, but I already knew that I wouldn't make it to the runway :)

oh dear, you little armchair pilots. firstly the aircraft would never depart, because pilots are too sensible that this.

Secondly, if both engines went down, the aircraft has a basic electrical pump (POWERED BY THE RAT) to keep main control surfaces (ie not flaps, spoilers) going. Then lightning cannot destroy the engines because the aircraft is airborne, this means that the strike simply flows through the body of the aircraft. Google Faraday Cages, this explains it.

guys, if complete power and engine is shut down then you have nothing, you'd also note that turbulance did damage the plain making it unflyable which pilot didn't realise till it was too late, so cut him some slack, he did better than most real pilots would do in thi situation.

This is a modern plane, and modern planes have an APU(Auxilery Power Unit) Which is located in the back of the plane and provides most of the power. So either the plane got struck by lighting or the APU wasn't on at all. The APU is supposed to provide emerngency electricity if somthing like this happens. Are there any other possiblities?
