  • this not reggaeton this reggae? reggaeton is in spanish. this is reggae too diffrent musica . this song not evevn in spanish .people say that this song inspired reggaeton . and reggaeton was never made in Panama.Reggaeton's roots started off as Spanish reggae in Panama.. that means reggaeton got it roots from hiphop and reggae . because reggaeton got there hip hop fashion from hiphop and rap used in reggaeton .reggaeton is used with other kinds of musica

  • @classaddress LMAO you obviously have NO idea about reggaeton history. LOL reggaeton was created in Panama when Jamaican descendants moved to Panama following the Panama canal construction era. The Jamaicans who chose to live in Panama mixed Jamaican music with Spanish. El General made it popular in America in the 90's and his music was copied and remixed by puerto ricans. This IS reggaeton's foundation. Listen to "Trailer Load A Girls" by Shabba and "Matie" by Beenie Man for more proof.

  • @classaddress : You have already been corrected. You come off as IGNORANT by the way, & beyond clueless.

This music is the sister to reggae, and it's called RAGGAMUFFIN(RAGGA). This is not reggae. It is RAGGA/DANCEHALL. RAGGA is an electronic reggae mix with a more aggressive/faster sound for the club. The RAGGA that was made in PANAMA is the birth of REGGAETON which the name should be changed to RAGGATON hence it does not represent reggae. The language spoken in PANAMA is Spanish you retard.

  • @BadBoriBoy so you are saying that those Panamanians are not Jamaican-descent? They have the right to call it reggae since they're ancestors were Jamaican. And stop insulting people.

  • Ok.

  • Who??Kartel? Listen to the BOSS... Oh yuh learn.

  • I love Shabba Ranks...I was jammin' to him even before I understood Patraw..mi nah bow but mi a bend..:-)

  • Dem Bow was popular when I went on vacation in 1991 to Honduras. We jammed this. Years later when I started hearing reggaeton songs I was like... their sound is not original. Dem Bow is like the father of the modern reggaeton rhythm. lol Personally, I don't care for reggaeton.

  • Yeeaahhh

  • its rather spliffing :D

  • this music origin the reggaeton latino wow cool

  • yey

  • i so in love with this songg......

  • Thumbs up if you respect what this man did for Dancehall Reggae in the 90's.

  • los reggaetonertos de aqui se robaron el dem-bow !! que mal... Jah Bless !

  • @muzz10100 nadie se robo nada, la musica evoluciona y se mezlca gracias a dios.... si no te gusta no la escuches.

  • BAAAADDDDDDDD LOVE THIS OMG!!!!!!!!

  • So this song is responsible for reggaeton ,eh?

  • @keshiasweet30: And Hip Hop may sound similar to reggaeton.

Reggaetton is based on electronic synthethizer, it uses a basic loop and then the whole song is basically rapped. But in esence, reggae/dancehall/raggamuffin is different. Let's not talk about the lyrics, reggaetton is full of depicted sexual events and guns and violence.

  • retarded fucking brain dead nig

  • 9 people hate tha dem-bow is not from puerto rico

  • the beginnings !!! hell yea !!

  • Son Bow, Son Bow, Son Bow.

  • Reggaeton is so retarded no offence you guys been using the same beat for 7 years!!! Stale Music!

Reggaeton's predecessor originated in Panama as reggae en españolReggaeton. blends West-Indian music influences of reggae, dancehall, and soca with those of Latin America, such as bomba, plena, salsa, latin pop and bachata as well as those of hip hop, contemporary R&B, and electronica.

  • @keshiasweet30 what an insightful quote...pulled word for word from wiki. its funny that you dog the genre for using the same thing over again and you don't even paraphrase the information you get

  • @josh98765432 thanks for stating the obvious! am i required to write an essay for this pointless argument....at the end of the day the world knows reggae came before reggaeton. So stop being ignorant and accept the fact that reggae started the music that you love.

  • @keshiasweet30 Every type of music uses the same beat. Electronica uses the same beat over and over, dubstep, rock, rap; any genre. The only genre I've ever come across that uses different beats and tempos in the same song is Metal (which I still am not a HUGE fan of)

  • @ariadarabi thats what gives it its genre, but reggaeton sounds EXACTLY the same. Am I the only one who thinks that?

  • @keshiasweet30 =P listen to Me Estas Tentando by Wisin Y Yandel, Virtual Diva by Don Omar and this again. They sound different to me lol

  • @keshiasweet30 So True But Eh I Still Enjoi It Tho LMAO

  • @keshiasweet30 [Reggaeton is so retarded no offence you guys been using the same beat for 7 years!!! Stale Music!]

    LOL!!!

  • Differences.

Reggaeton has the same beat in EVERY song

This song has the reggaeton beat first, but then it changes.

  • Look up Risto Benjies Passport Buddy classic joint and then look up Gringomans Pasaporte. Trailor Load by Shabba Ranks... Gringomans Giales Giales. Gregory Isaacs Night Nurse and Nando Booms Noche de Enfermo. I could go all day. The island influence in Panama is too much the entire city of Colon on the Atlantic side is a cultural gumbo of the islands. Educate yourselves people...yes Reggaeton was made popular by PR but it did not originate there.

  • @ginton00 I am not disputing your comment but someone ( un dominicano) told me that reggaeton or spanish reggae was in the PR underground before Panama.

  • @Jahcrooks Sorry but thats not so. The reason Panama is the birth place of reggaeton is because of the many African-Carribeans who had migrated to Panama in search of work on the canal. Many from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, Grenada brought reggae along with calypso influence to the country long before PR & DR even knew who Bob Marley was. "Don't let dem fool yuh...... Oh no" Hon. Robert Nester Marley aka Bob Marley.

  • @XODUS4177 panamanian spanish reggae artist influenced young teens in puerto rico to start doing spanish dance hall as well but reggaeton is from puerto rico a speed up version of dance hall and till this day 10 times more famous and more original than plena(panamanian dance hall) what panamanians did was called reggae en espanol what people like dj playero dj dicky did was reggaeton is a clear difference

  • @johnnytijeras "a speed up version of dance hall" So thats original? Panamanians never sped up nothing they did actual reggae and dancehall rythms. So which is more original? even till today Panamanians have more authentic style. Reggaeton today sound like Techno, at least it had real Dancehall in the beginning now its total Rubbish!!!! Come wit ah bettah argument nex time! AND Playero was ripping off material that Calito had already covered so your argument is still NIL. Peace.

  • @XODUS4177 what i meant by more original is that pr old school reggaeton changed to a whole different music weather it sounds like techno or pop songs i cant argue that im more of a hip hop head when it comes to spanish music.but till this day panamanians still ripp off current dance hall hits and the ones that dont only sing romantic corny songs like nigga macano el rookie and those songs just happend to have pr reggaeton beats sometimes produce by puertoricans think about it

  • @johnnytijeras well we don't need to argue bout it. I liked old school reggaeton, and the reggae espanol, justa as much as dancehall so we should enjoy the music no matta weh it come from. And yes i'm aware Puerto Rican producers have collaborated many times and its only right since Puerto Rico was a major force in the consumption of spanish dancehall reggae. Peace.

  • @XODUS4177 i agree my brother..its all reggae if any one should argue is the jamaicans cause all jacked them for their music lol peace

  • @Jahcrooks who ever told you that dont know shit. in puerto rico back than all they did was spanish rap such as vico c brewely mc ruben dj panama to me was the birth of spanish dance hall not really reggaeton but if it was'nt for panamanian artist like nando boom el general ect making a big impact on puertorican youth back in the late 80s there would be no reggaeton

  • No wonder the saying ignorance is bliss was created...for the all the garbage that people talk here. El General was just a lucky bastard who happen to be in the right place at the right time. He was not the first in Panama to make REGGAE en ESPAÑOL. Look up Nessie y Los Sensacionales, Renato, NANDO BOOM, Chicho Man. In Panama we took all the riddims that were coming out of Jamaica and put the spanish lyrics just like artists in Jamaica share the riddims, Panama did the same.

  • wah....hii ngoma ina base,gatho!ill get evicted.

  • love this song

  • I hate the fuckin gays.. SHABBA SAVES!!!

Im sure if u can tolerate rape of women, robbery of tourists, and murder it wouldnt kill u to let others live how they choose. U fail.

    PANAMANiAN'sZ bE d0iNq SUM CrAZy NiCE rEqqAEt0N S0Nq'Sz

  • a for the guys at the bottom talkin bout black people dont get credit yall are fuckin idiots nobody talkin bout skin fuckin idiots jamaicans started reggae but panama made fuckin reggaeton idiots damn and they dont look at color as origin they look at country origins fuckin ignorant dumb asses

  • @toruno21 the Panamanians that started Reggaeton were influenced by Reggae and they were originally immigrants from the caribbean that went to Panama , hence the name "REGGAE" TON, SO GUYS DONT BE IGNORANT. Reggae is not an hispanic word so obviously it was derived from reggae, idiots

  • 8 didn't like this....fuck 'em

  • It really cracks me up how people try to deny where things originate. White people are famous for taking other people's culture & claiming they're the originators. But, in Panama where a significant amount of blacks trace their ancestry to Jamaican immigrants who went to Panama during the building of the Canal, it's obvious that REGGATON STARTED W/ PANAMANIANS OF JAMAICAN DESCENT. Panamanians better recognize JA as the root!

  • i thought dem bow meant when a dude goes down on a girl. well slap me silly and pinch my skin. so i was wrong all this time ?

  • @msnywoman23 That's what it does mean. And vice versa for women. I loved this song, though it speaks of my getting shot for being a self confessed "Bow Cat". LMAO!!!

  • @BlackBronson

i dont understand everything well most of what is being said in the song.but does it say a person who does deserves to be shot? if so thats dumb. nothing oral if its being done to and received from a serious partner. furthermore im sure he engages in that.

  • @msnywoman23 Yes it does, but they don't mean it literally.

There's another song by Mr. Vegas called "Heads High" about the same thing.

I find it hilarious. I'm like, just coz you don't like it, you don't have to make a song and dance about it! Lmao!!!

And you know for a fact that Shabba gets his fair share of blow jobs. Any one of them guys that says they don't are either lying or missing out on a slice of heaven! Hahahahaha

  • @BlackBronson

but also its funny becaUSE you know the are giving it too.

  • SO BLACK PEOPLE STARTED REGGEATON TOO !!!!!

well just add that too the list of things blacks wont get

    credit for !!!

  • oldd schooollll

  • Jamaica(reggeaton originators)

  • bun battyboi n bocat

  • Talibarnd, que representa entonces???? solo consulto....

  • One thing most people dont know is that the origins of reggaeton could be traced back to this very same song..

  • @TALIBANRD reggaeton is fucking garbage, nuthin but a watered down version of blk peoples music, fucking spanish shit

  • @bahanas301 true that....when i tell ppl that there is no such thing as reggaeton they watch me like im crazy. if you take the Dem Bow rhythm (which is reggae) out of any reggaeton song what do you get??? hip hop? pop? techno??? they come and copied the fucking beats and then dont give us any credit

  • @TALIBANRD heck yeah El General Son Bow

  • @TALIBANRD

Truth. Reggaeton started from the mix of U.S. rap, dancehall reggae from Jamaica and mostly plena (Panama version of dance hall reggae). After some local mixtapes using that drum sample, it came to be the basic rythm patern for reggaeton.

  • @TALIBANRD hence the reason the beat commonly used in reggaeton is called dembow :)

  • @TALIBANRD they do if they read wikipedia

  • @TALIBANRD i have been telling people the same thing too man. trust me. traces back to this song originated by the great Shabba Ranks.

  • @TALIBANRD

sorry to burst your bubble, but everybody probably goes to this link cause they already know that.

  • @TALIBANRD THAT IS ABSOLUTLEY TRUE!!!!! this song is responsible for that reggaeton beat everyone is so familiar with. The approach of the lyrical side of it can be attributed to El General , a panamanian reggae artsist who was the first to do dancehall music in spanish

    good history lesson

  • @TALIBANRD yep

  • @TALIBANRD Thank you Wikipedia !

  • @TALIBANRD Yup! It all started wit the Dem Bow riddim....STILL the base of almost all reggaeton!

  • of course jamaicans do not like homosexuals. A law dating back to the 1770's forbids men to have sex with another man. Jamaica is also a religious island with more churches per sq mile in kingston than any city in the world! So it should'nt surprise anyone that artist like buju banton and before him shabba ranks are against such acts. Buju was singled out a while ago--America loves their hommosexuals and the UN and other organizations are trying to CHANGE JA into a HOMO loving island.

  • @abrown7839 let tell u my brotha we as carribeans as a whole don't like that homo shit, am from the bahamas. the masses have a new world agenda an alot of them are homos and when u go against that shit they will bring u down especially if ur famous, buju situation is suspcious

  • @bahanas301

explain more what you mean. i disagree with homosexuality obviously it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know its wrong. but it isnt up to anyone to kill another human being or sing about it just because of what they choose to be. thats not our buisness.

  • @msnywoman23 buju was setup for not giving into the gay community, when he met with them in cali they told him to reach out to the caribbean community an encourage them to embrace gay people, who do u think runs the music industry, this life style is being promoted an its pathetic

  • @bahanas301 i know the industry are being used like puppets. i know bush with his elite group is running everything. but i dont know the full story of buju other than he got caught with cocaine. anyway to bad if was set up. im not surprised. the (elite) do that. they did it to 2pac with that rape smh

  • @abrown7839 brother it naw gunna happen i'll fight and die before that happens

  • @abrown7839 but dat bloodclaut nah happen so best dem no bother try from we nah love no man no time ever ever so batty man need fi run way

  • @abrown7839 Respect!!!! A west African I am, but mi av love fi the Caribbeans, may we never drift into such degrading act of unclean sexual acts as homosexuality and the likes of it. Hold on fast to what is right. Big upss-YOR!-

  • @abrown7839 there is no such thing as ja. People will do what they want when ever they want with or without you and your backwards ways.

  • @abrown7839 wtf. stfu fucking battifish

  • @abrown7839 dem mad,dem cannot change us

  • @abrown7839 i agree man. and these blood clatt homosexual in the US want to destroy buju's career all because of a song he recorded 19-20 years ago (boom bye bye). give me a break. For what i read one day on one of the carribbean news it stated that he wrote it when he was 15 and it was a response to a case in jamaica about a man who raped a young boy which at the time was a big scandal news in JA at the time. free buju

  • @abrown7839 bun out all de battyman dem

  • @abrown7839 why such hateful writing? can't you state your point in an objective way?

  • @abrown7839 fuck dat faggoty shit. I hope God blesses JA and never make dem into a homo loving island, same as Guyana, Trinidad and da rest of the west indies. We will never support dat fuckery

  • @tramballe12 yes! big up caribean!

  • @abrown7839 "america loves ther homosexuals" ahahahahhahaha thats why its illegal in alot of places

  • @abrown7839 Yeah but Jamaican men are just so fucking hot, those muscles, that skin, that why we wanna make JA into a homo loving island!

  • @melovebatty shut up jamaica will never be a batty man island you a go jamiaca you a leave with a gunshot inyour back like buju banton said boom bye bye in a battys bois

  • @abrown7839 Jamaica is full of gays, or at least man who have sex with man.

Churches are the best hunting ground for gays. Been so through out history.

  • @abrown7839 true your statement is 100 percent true

  • Why are Jamaicans so homophobic? shaba dont like to BOW, pero pa los gustos los colores... PAZ!!!!

  • He Twkiingq Di Truth !

    Dem Love Fi Bow !

  • el primero en sacar el den bow

  • all came from africa anyway hahahahaha...you all is black hahahha

  • dembow, dembow,dembow,dembow

  • study studt study...if you read plenty you would know that yes shabba had a lot to do with how the reggaeton got its sound..we know a lot of latinos hate to acknowledge their african roots..so sad then stup copying all the beats
