By bribing many of our congressmen and senators, they keep America's pill prices the highest of any nation eventhough there manufactured in america. How about abolishing taxes, or the "fractional banking" standards that the federal reserve uses. Look it to it, and you will see that the money collected by the IRS is ie, being used against us the American people. I think that gm should remain in business. hand out major lay-offs. give the remaining work force a major raise. restructure all plants so there as automated as possible using the most brilliant minds with Gov. money. I believe this is achievable, necessary, and would put the industry far ahead of competition. I've never heard any politician suggest a raise. Just an opinion. The auto makers knew they were losing money on all the SUVs they were making. They even said this in a press release earlier this year. Right after they announced this, they announced their new line of vehicles: A SUV!! I say let them lie in the bed they made! If they aren't able to turn a profit by NOT producing vehicles that lose money, then they don't deserve to be given money for making stupid business decisions.

The auto makers made HUGE profits on the SUVs. The problem is that they forgot about making good cars because CARS were not what made them money. SUVs were.

They had no backup plan... As soon as people quit buying SUVs their profits VANISHED.

Also, paying someone 29 bucks an hour to turn a screw-driver is ridiculous. I would go do the job RIGHT NOW for 20. Then the auto makers would save 1/3 of their expenditures. Which would be enough to make them viable.
