Eternal only stepped in to do the soundtrack at the last minute. They were asked last minute or something if I recall correctly. They were planning to release other songs from their second album Power Of A Woman, but they were shelved in favour of this.

Eternal weren't popular in the States so Disney only wanted them to sing for the version in this country. The DVD you have is probably the American version

This version of the song is lovely - 'Eternal' are wonderful singers - but I can't STAND the video itself - it's too bright and colourful.

Seriously, what WERE they thinking, using a circus setting with jesters and clowns? I know it ties with the gypsies, but the bright appearance feels, to me, disrespectful to the melancholic tone of the song itself. All-4-One had a better video, with dreary streets and cloudy sky setting - good contrast to the movie clips and more appropriate.

Are you kidding? The Hunchback of Notre Dame is about a a Paris festival. It's carnivalesque, so supposed to contain circus themes and jesters. Have you not even seen the film? Plus the song is about hope and optimism. If you listen to the lyrics, a "bright appearance" is actually more fitting.

Perhaps, but to each his or her own, I guess. As optimistic as the song certainly is, the explosion of colours - with the festival theme - just puts me off the video. I love circuses and festivals, but I prefer to go there to laugh rauciously, rather than to see it as a symbol of hope - for me, optimism and hope is about people showing love for one another in a more obvious way.

That's just me, though - don't worry about my opinion. Just don't force me to change - I won't force you to.

I FOUND THE ORIGINAL! It's called the deleted scene from the movie.

It doesn't matter who sang it first. Alan Menken did a brilliant job writing the piece. This isn't about who sang it better or who sang it first. Celebrate who deserves to be celebrated. The man who realized people fight over silly things and that one day, people may realize they are fighting over silly things.

That being said, Celtic Woman did a lovely version of this song. Very sweet, very child like. Innocent almost.

No, it's from the soundtrack of Notre Dame and Alan Menken composed it, and it was originally sung by Heidi Mollenhauer. It's not one of their songs. Take "I am blessed" for example. That's one of their songs, but this isn't. They did a very good job with it nonetheless.

I'm afraid Temptap is wrong. Disney went through a stage of introducing localised soundtracks for their major motion picture releases. All4one did the U.S version and eternal the U.K. Similarly, you'll notice if you watch the U.K version of 'Lilo & Stitch' we have Gareth Gates majoring on our soundtrack. Alas, people in the U.S have yet to hear of young Gareth!! :p
