  • lolwut?

  • Talk about 'oops'...

  • wtf is wrong with that guy

  • Would'nt you quickly turn it off ffs?

  • Well, I think the condemned would be brain dead and totally f'ed up anyway. The electricity hits you like a speeding bullet, apparently.

  • You've got a good point there. He would either be dead or screaming in agony for you to put the juice back on lol.

  • Yeah. I think he'd be rendered brain dead, or at least, that is what is supposed to happen.

  • Surely it would be a good idea to turn on the current then immediately turn it off to test if that really does happen!

  • Well, the electric chair has already been shunned for being an extremely cruel and unusual punishment, so I doubt they'd "test" the current by quickly closing and opening the circuit on a condemned person during an execution! lol.

  • Not true. James earl reed was executed in the electric chair on 20th june this year. They could have done the test on him.

  • Sorry, you're wrong. The condemned are not guinea pigs. The whole point of the execution is to kill the condemned as smoothly, and as quickly as possible. Turning the current on and off very quickly would be deemed as torture, not an execution...

  • You are wrong - south carolinas protocol ( i have just found out ) is to electrocute the condemned for several secounds then cut the power then continue.

  • Yeah, several seconds. We're talking a split second, like on/off, instantaneously.

  • Willie Francis was done in portable electric chair, then common in the deep south. Often, the chair and generator were owned by independent contractors, many of whom were inept hacks. With such an amature hour operation, nearly anything could happen.

  • There was a case years ago where a guy ( I think he was black) survived the electric chair after it broke while he was being fried. Apparently he was jolted for quite a long time. I remember reading about his description and said that he had the taste of cold peanut butter in his mouth for a long time. I just kept think how bizzarre. I would look it up on wiki or google it to get the whole story.

  • I've read about this case before. His name was Willie Francis, I think. He survived because he only received something like half the voltage, due to incorrect installation of the chair/electrodes. He did say that he could taste cold peanut butter, and that he saw little speckles in his vision. He even screamed to the guards "turn it off! Let me breathe!"

The guy was executed a year later.

  • It was'nt wired up properly cos the electrician was pissed he did'nt actually get electrocuted.

  • I read that the man who set up the chair was as drunk as a skunk, which caused the chair to break.

  • u mean willie francis?

  • good old sparky

  • Poor guard as he did need to get away LOL!

  • love the tempo of the french sounding music

  • ha ha funny

  • Actually, I saw in an execution scene in an old movie that was filmed in Sing Sing Prison, that the lever was thrown down, not up

  • yes but that was in a movie wasnt it garr1984

  • yes... but the scene was filmed in Sing Sing's death chamber.

  • Hahah.. Lol .. xD

  • you re right, but it is a funny video

  • Lol! In reality though, the lever had to be lifted into the meshing gate, rather than lowered in order to avoid such an event occurring.

  • very funny
