Why should any immigrant, particularly illegal immigrants, take jobs from American citizens? If you come here illegally you should have no rights to work, health care, etc etc. and should be deported immediately. There are thousands of people who are doing what needs to be done to enter this country legally every day.

I hate how illegals come here and then drain our tax dollars in free health care and other such government aid but don't pay any taxes. If it weren't for the comment limits Id go into more detail but its odd how people don't realize why illegals are hated so badly.

Wrong: Immigrants are required to pay the same taxes as US citizens, no matter what their immigration status might be. Even undocumented persons who are working "under the table" are expected to file, and may be able to get a "taxpayer identification number' (TIN) from the IRS (apply on IRS form W-7) in order to file the income tax return. In addition, most of them never receive what they've put into the Social Security fund 'cause they don't want to alert the government of their presence.

And what percentage of those illegals actually file or have legal jobs? And maybe you've never witnessed it but I know quite a few people who were born here, work a hard 40 hours a week but cant afford health insurance. They're unable to go the hospital to get medications and treatment because of it. And yet if an illegal immigrant comes here, and uses the hospitals its free of charge to them because it comes from tax dollars. They're treated better than US citizens.

And thats pretty pathetic that someone who legally should not even be in the country gets better treatment than an actual citizen. And if you don't think its a burden on tax payers and hospitals themselves then maybe you should do a little more research into the matter. Hospitals are closing all the time and cutting staff because they can't afford to keep giving away treatment to illegals which is required by law.

If we want better health care we need to move to a system where insurance companies don't make a killing off of dictating what doctors can do and prescribe.

"they're treated better than US citizens?" ARE YOU INSANE? I know a lot of these families and they're terrified to go to the grocery store, let alone break the law. Most work a lot more than 40 hours a week, for much less than minimum wage and don't even go to the emergency room unless there are life-threatening injuries involved. Finding health care is a matter of scrounging for the very few free clinics that exist (mostly private, and thus, not tax supported).

No where in my comments did I blame the failing economy on the medical treatment of illegal immigrants. I said that HOSPITALS are closing and cutting staff because of it. But at the same time yes, the treatment they get from tax dollars does put a strain on government funds. I suppose that 1.6BILLION tax dollars in Texas and $1.4BILLION in California is nothing at all right? Think of what that money could've been used for if not on ILLEGAL, I repeat ILLEGAL!, immigrants.

The VERY DAY that comprehensive immigration reform was defeated (a terrible bill, by the way) numerous corporations decided to move their headquarters abroad. I've worked with people in unions who are finally realizing that the only long term solution is to unionize everyone and fight management together. I agree that workers' rights (ALL workers' rights) should be respected. The idea that American workers are strong enough to take international management alone is a fairy tale.
