  • you guys know we can't see wind right?

  • seriously.....what the F am I looking at here ???

  • @Redcaster916 wind.. lol.

  • thats devon in the winter..

  • i fucking hate wind

  • throw some turbines up there

  • that would be a complete kite surfing fail

  • You know what's insane? Those people who fly into hurricanes in order to study them.

  • what?

  • realy nasty place if you want to go surfing

  • i would not like to be stuck out there :|

  • yea, im sure going through with an airplane is the right way to film a windy place :/ not that its not safe, but pointless

  • NewScientist approved that video?

  • Wow, that's what I call windy!

  • WOW! It really is windy in the windiest region on earth! Good job science.

Hey, I have a dumb idea. Next time you've got a million dollars to waste, perhaps you want to do something else with it, like, I don't know, cure cancer or something stupid like that.

    Bye.

  • million dollars to cure cancer?LOLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree that this video was pointless but

the second thing you said.... retarded

  • Dear feuchster

Thanks for the correction there Heinrich Warburg. It's people like you that bring uneducated morons like me back down to earth.

My intention here was to expose those who state the obvious without realizing it.

Kind of like I'm doing to you right now.

    Nice try dumb dumb.

  • down to earth? see a connection with the video?

    haha!

  • why even say it at all then?

  • how exciting!

  • is this fuck the windiest region on earth!

they obiviously havent looked in my pants!

    IHO!

  • well that paints a pretty picture

  • Ladies and gentlemen, we are going to experience some turbulence

  • Those were some big waves.

    Surfing anyone?

  • this video give me more questions than answers

  • Ditto.

Once ever other week or so, New Scientist releases a video just like this, one that brings up more questions than answers. Our only hope here is that they later redo this with some commentary to explain just exactly what we were seeing there...

  • In a day and age where so much is fed to us I kinda like newscientistvideo's why of making one think instead of telling one what to think.

  • *way

  • I thought my ass was the windiest place on earth.

  • Wow.. ocean.

  • Where is Beyonce ?

  • Would be nice if you had identified where this place supposedly was. The Jet Stream is obviously the windiest place surrounding Earth, but on Earth proper is what I suppose you meant by this video. If I were to guess where the windiest place was I would say Antartica or perhaps the top of the Himalayans.

  • Where is it?, how fast is the wind? What are they flying?

  • Winds speeds off Cape Farewell reach at least 20 metres per second (44.7 miles per hour or gale force) 16% of the year and 29% of the winter, making it the windiest spot on the planet.

  • Excellent. What a fantastic and varied planet we live on. Where is this place??

  • Cape Farewell in Greenland, at least that is what it says in the linked article.

  • wht dickheads are low rating this?.

did they think it was a beyonce video?

  • Yep, that certainly blew!

  • LMAO

  • *bah-dum bush*

    CARRRRRRLOSSSS!

  • Hi newscientist,

    What are chemtrails?

  • The term "chemtrail" does not refer to common forms of aerial spraying (e.g., crop dusting, cloud seeding or aerial firefighting). The term specifically refers to aerial trails allegedly caused by the systematic, high-altitude release of chemical substances not found in ordinary contrails, resulting in the appearance of supposedly uncharacteristic sky tracks.

  • What are chemtrails?

  • 1/5

  • Ok so ... what was the point if this video exactly?

I didn't learn anything new with this, all I saw was some waves that could be anywhere ... I would love to have some more information on this matter ...

  • ok... hey let me go and find the least windiest place on earth, i know what ill do, ill take a camera and stare at the ground for a minute and EVERYONE WILL BE AMAZED

  • Well that wasn't worth the bandwidth.

  • yeah its now getting lame, there was no info on where this place is, or what the wind speeds are or anything just a picture of some waves that could be from any part of the ocean

  • "Hey, we're in the windiest region on Earth. LET'S FLY 2 INCHES FROM THE GROUND!"

  • where is this windy region? ude think theyde be smart enough to know but theyre too stupid to bother

  • The windiest region on earth is about a 6 inch distance from my backside and about 20 mins after I've eaten some white castles.

  • lmao

  • Haha.... I get it. Nice one

  • lol awsome.

    and gross.

    !^_^!

  • wow a choppy ocean. ive never seen one of those before

  • What a fucking tragedy that would be.

  • It made you upset didn't it .

  • Your grammar upsets me a lot more.

  • That's because how good I am.

  • waaaaaaaah :(

  • You are quick there little buddy. You bored this morning?

  • Yep. Just sitting here, matchsticks in my eyes on a 48-hour interwebz bender, hitting 'refresh' like a motherfucker.

  • i love that comment

    i dont really know why

i just really like the way it sounds

    sorry, just me being wierd

    good-luck

  • lol

  • You'd think you could tell us where the region is...

  • agreed.

  • This vid is mostly to accompany the linked article, which is why there's so little to it. But what the heck: the place shown is Cape Farewell (yes...) in Greenland. Wind speeds there hit 20 metres per second (gale force) for 16% of the year.

  • @xTheOxx Cape Farewell. Greenland. It's in the description.

  • @jparizon2It wasn't when I posted this... two years ago.

  • @xTheOxx Read more: xxxxxxenvironment.newscientistxcom/article/dn14661

Research planes have flown above Cape Farewell in Greenland for the first time - the windiest region on Earth.

    read much?

  • @TheyCallMeMrHappy

As has been pointed out elsewhere in the comments (and you would have noticed if you could READ), the info wasn't there when I posted my original message over two years ago. They added it after I commented, so you're welcome.

But anyways, thank you for being a vigilant comment police with an irreproachable sense of timing.

  • @xTheOxx are you sure it is not just a photo of you blathering on by the sea somewhere?

  • cool
