Wrong... Errosion causes mountains after the crust is thickened. There not scrunched up plates.

@lr1964 The Cascade Mountains are volcanos and are built up by erruptions... ect. I was just saying that this vid is not totaly true, the collision results in a thickening of plates that results in a raised area. The mountains are uplifted as the raised area is erroded and becomes lighter.

Actually, the ocean crust subducts downward due to immense water pressure. The fossils found on everest are due to 60 million years of erosion. Although the mountain range is still rising, erosion wore away the continental uplift, exposing the subducted ocean crust that uplifted underneath. Either that or a big flood occured submerging everest.

im sure that it's the sea bed that gets folded upwards not the thick continental plates because they found sea fossils on the peak of everest and other mountains which wouldn't be found if the land was shoved upwards.

Scrunched up, pathetic and wrong. Earth grows, the crust recurves, that's how we get mountains. Subduction is not proven and never will be because it doesn't occur, only spreading. The continental plates doesn't slide around, they sit where they sit.

Don't believe everything you read in a youtube comment. Some people think they've proven plate tectonics wrong but they are just idiots and are using a theory that was turned down about 80 years ago or so. Plate tectonics are right. *thumbs up*

it isnt the plates that crumple it is the sedimentary rock that has been deposited in the geosyncline over millions of years- this is what crumples and rises up- which is why there are fossils of sea creatures on the himalayas.
