  • this was really good. dude what strings were you using? they looked extra bendy

  • i didnt realize that matt damon was into dmb. haha

  • Great tutorial. Your strumming is tough to follow. One question - what do you play when it gets to the line "With mountains and oceans and winters and rivers and stars". I still cant get that part down right.

x This is almost the same and its alot easier

    0

    0

    0

    2

    x Low E

  • @thebends2554 Your right its alot easier and the same notes. Good call. Props

  • great job...really helpful...id like to see alligator pie ;)

  • Dude. I love DMB and have been w/ them since 1994. It was a bad day when Leroi Moore passed, but glad to see it did not stop the bands tour. You are pretty dam good, and glad you posted this new song. I will try to learn it... PEACE..

  • could u tell me the strumming pattern. still dont quite get it

  • its like down up down up down up up up

check out my video for Dave's part

  • dave nor tim plays it that way!

  • I am aware. But I'm combining both parts... Dave doesn't play the single notes, and Tim doesn't play the chords. So, this is a fusion of the two. Anyway, it's the best I can do. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment!

  • did you see the way i play it ?

  • yeah I saw... you play it wrong

  • hey hey wait a second, it was based of the first tab i read. i did not hear the song enough to know the differences. i'm making a new video in a few minutes.

  • wow dude you do awesome tutorials....this helped me so much

can you please do my baby blue and you and me by dave matthews

  • what's the strumming pattern on the verse and the beginning of the chorus? I can't quite figure it out.

  • the chord with bass note b is Bminor

  • b minor is played with the notes B D F#

    I'm playing B D G

which is just a major G chord inversion.

So, I am not playing a b minor. Neither does Dave, although I think he plays his G major inversion differently than I do.

I'm guessing you've seen Dave play it differently and assumed it was a b minor, or you're looking at incorrect tabs/chords somewhere.

Either way, if you're playing a b minor, you're playing it incorrectly.

Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching!

  • watch my cover of this song, and you will see that bminor fits in flawlessly to the song. while dave may not play a bminor, the electric guitarist does

  • Thanks a bunch. Had to learn this song so thank you. I watched Dave play it from MSG on YouTube and didn't see him play play that chord all the way up on the 5th fret (7-x-5-7)

  • No problem, I'm glad it helped. Yeah, I don't always play exactly the same as Dave, I just play what seems easiest.

  • Awesome tut for FTWIS! I learned it quicker watching this a couple times than I would have with a tab in front of me!

Great job - you're an excellent teacher.

  • Shake Me Like A Monkey would be a great follow up btw 8-)...

  • dude you're sick, and a great teacher. Any other new dave tutorials you feel like puttin up would always be welcome. Thanks for this!

  • Thanks. I was fingering it out on my small keyboard as you instructed. Nice. YOu make is look 'as easy as'...you know.

  • Does anyone know where to get the sheet music to this song?

  • at the store

  • yoyoyo... this song is amazing! i just learned and now practicing! my band is going to love this!

  • Funny the way it is! ...I'm gonna edit that out

    haha,good work dude

  • thank you, i love it!

  • What an impressive work ...

    Thanks a million times

  • More DMB please! This tutorial is amazing! Spaceman and Why I Am next? Keep up the great work! Cheers...

  • great dude! very impressive.

  • Thak you very much! Is this a Taylor 714 or a 914?

  • it's a 314... can't afford a 714 or 914 just yet!!!

  • More DMB broken down like this please?!!!?

  • nice job! what is the struming in the verse and chorus?

  • Good work.

    Spaceman please! :)

  • Damn, Dude! You sure have an ear. I would have never figured that one out, and I can play a shitload of Dave songs.

  • Thanks...very impressive.

  • this is sweet thanks!

  • impressive! Thanks

  • Thank You!

  • in the chorus the third chord is a Bm, just FYI

  • it isn't, it's actually just another G major chord but a different inversion. I didn't want to get into too much theory, but itf you're playing it as a bminor you're playing it wrong.

  • Ah yes you are correct. I mistook that he was playing the fourth fret of the D string instead of the fifth which would be a Bm. Here it is a simple inverted G or a Bm with and augmented fifth.

  • ha thank you for the confirmation...I haven't seen him play it but I knew from listening that it wasn't a minor chord. if I could give some advice, I'd say don't rely on looking- listen to the music. your ears are much more accurate than your eyes when it comes to sound. cheers.

  • how the hell did you figure this out already

  • good job man. was working on it myself as well, I'll probably have the cover up tomorrow since I'm at work now.
