I own a "Lark" amp which was produced for Simpson's Sears (Canada) in the mid-late sixties. Hasn't worked in ages, but it's all tube and has some neat effects for the time. Heard of those at all?
Never heard of Lark amps. I would love to know more about them though. Seems that all those old department store guitars that came from Sears and Montgomery Wards were a lot cooler than people ever expected!
Can you make a video of your amp? Would love to see and hear it. What would you compare it to? What tubes are in it?
aaaahhhhhhhh! I bet it kicks butt! I love EL84 amps. Vox AC30's, Harmony H415's...killer tone! I bet this one is no different. Get the sucker fixed! whats wrong with it?
I'm really not sure. It was my father's, who bought it in the mid sixties (with a Silvertone guitar). When he bought a bassman, he put it away until his stepbrother got at it 20 years later..and blew it out, apparently. I don't really know the extent of the damage, but I will have to get it fixed soon.
yeah - it's not good to let amps sit for along periods of time without at least turning them on for an hour or so. the caps start to rot. it probably needs a cap job...maybe some new tubes. if you decide to get rid of it let me know
It didn't have a model number on it. From what I've heard it was made as an extension speaker for old Sears record players. But it had a little Champ-like circuit in it. Made for a cool little living room amp - and excellent for recording. Total Buddy Holly sound

I need to bring it in to be fixed first.
I opened the back the other day and was pleasantly surprised to find 4 EL84's and a few 12AX7's.

MAN I LOVE THAT SONG! Nice sound. I was watching Andy Baylors video as well. Will have to check some of these old Silvertone/Harmony amps out.

You can't get tone like that from a modern amp, it seems. For some reason they can't be made anymore. Hold onto it.

One of the best sounding amps I've heard. What kind of guitar were you using?
Lestratosphere 4 years ago
That was my Silvertone H-78. One of the greatest guitars ever made IMHO
