Ultimately you have a right to your property (which you either may have homesteaded or acquired through voluntary exchange), and are free to exercise it as you please as long as you do not infringe the property rights of others. Your person is included in this because you own yourself. All else is bullshit, you cannot enforce a positive obligation unto others to do your bidding and call it "a right."
The government is there to uphold our rights absolutely. As far as I am concerned, and many might see this "extreme" even though the likes of Rousseau would agree, if the government is no longer upholding its end of the bargain to protect the citizens we have every right to a violent rebellion and to establish anarchy. Hehe.. :)
I think you should post another video soon, because its cool for me to tell you how cool you are, and its boring for you to do nothing (as my ex-girlfriends have remonstrated me in the past).
What I'm saying is your activity is a positive time consumer. As opposed to all of the negative time consumers hastening me toward death.
no, no, no. i will not have sex with you in the back of a cab. please stop pestering me about this. your wife looks really lovely. be happy with that choice, for goodness sakes. now...this video. what did you say again?
"Right's don't exist in the natural world. No one has any inherent right to anything. The government, through an ideology, grants rights and upholds them against the tyranny of the mob and from foreign powers.
In the natural world, might makes right and the only thing you are guaranteed is death.
There seems to be some ambiguity between using the term "rights" to mean freedoms that exist regardless of a government acknowledging them, and "rights" to mean specifically something that the government upholds. To use your slave example; did slaves have the right to freedom while they were enslaved, and this right was being violated? Or did they only gain this right once they were freed? How does your answer to this question correlate to your assertion that "we can get new rights"?
@Chimneyfish00 Well, first off, I don't think "inalienable" and "innate" are synonymous. Rights are granted by the government. There are no rights in the natural order of things. It's a convenience of civilization.
In the slavery example, I'd say their rights were violated post hoc. An issue is brought to attention, and we debate as to whether or not a solution should be set in stone in the bill of rights or law, or if it's an issue at all.
@Chimneyfish00 Ambiguous or not (not) the last time I looked around every one was born free. What are you debating here? that having freedom is a privileged?
@Artofbeauty I wasn't debating anything. I just asked for a clarification.
But as far as my own opinions go; I agree with you that people are born free. I disagree that freedom is a privilege. I think that slaves had their right to liberty violated even before the government acknowledged it. I don't think that any individual can give or take the rights of any other individual, and that this doesn't somehow change the moment a group of individual get together and call themselves a government.
You present an idea in this video that I've been hearing more and more often, but that I don't fully understand. I am hoping that you might clarify and expand on it for me.
The statement I'm having a problem with is; "We can even get new rights." What are you using the concept "rights" to mean? Do you believe that rights are inalienable freedoms innate in being human, or that rights are granted to us from the government?
Your analysis is thoughtful, multifaceted, and has depth and will therefore not be appreciated by many who are motivated by their strong but inaccurate feelings.

I suggest you research it.
@Stratslayer Just because you are a libertarian doesn't mean you aren't bias against liberals. Glenn Beck ring a bell? What about HowTheWorldWorks?
You're bias is that you think ever liberal in the motherfucking world thinks that. I'm a liberal and I think that over taxing is not a good idea and that the government controlling everything is bad. I'm one of the smarter liberals.
@TruthSearcher123 : Me? Biased against liberals?? lol Kid, I am ABSOLUTELY biased against big government control over the masses. I am absolutely biased against "liberals". lol You don't understand what a "liberal" is kid, and you are CERTAINLY NOT a liberal. What you ARE is "17". Keep learning. You'll find that you are a moderate conservative....NOT a "moderate liberal". lol
you were going to assume I watched MSNBC. I can already tell. You did it to azrienoch.
I will take all that you have said in no seriousness whatsoever. If you were serious, you wouldn't be such a cunt about liberals and anything that goes against you're retarded responses.
@TruthSearcher123 : Hahaha! So NOW you are also a "mind reader" / claravoiyant eh kid ?? lol You really hate MSNBC don't you? lol ...Oh, but then the lol! Huffington Post and "Google "news" are MUCH more conservative than MSNBC. Hahaha!!! I'm sorry kid...I don't mean to laugh at you so much but you are really too funny to not laugh at. You've brightened my day kid! lol!!
@Stratslayer there you go again, assuming. I never said I "hate" MSNBC, i dont watch it because some of what they put on there isn't news, some of it is shit thats going on in pop culture which i dont give 2 shits about. I never said Huffington Post and Google News is more conservative.
I like Olberman but that doesn't mean I want to suck his cock. Just because I dont watch him daily doesnt mean i hate him.
@TruthSearcher123 : "ass will get owned" ?? lol...How old are you kid? 15? lol I not only know that he watches Olberman, I also know that he watches Maddow, Maher, MSNBC ( in general), CNN, and he "cherry picks" liberal articles written in liberal periodicals, magazines, "news"papers, and AP news bulletins. I'm doubtful that you read anything kid. ( Which is better than reading socialist publications and programming)
I never watch network news because its not news so dont try any of the MSNBC bullshit I know you oh so want to. I get my news from sites like the Huffington Post, Google News, etc. (Yes we ALL know Huffington Post has a liberal slant. My preemptive response is fuck off. No one who has anything worth saying cares. Spread your retarded conservative bias somewhere else)
@TruthSearcher123 : LOL !!! Huffington post and "google" "news" ?? Hahaha!!! Kid Your "preemptive response" means ZERO to me. The fact is that you are extremely young, extremely naive, and extremely misguided and undereducated. btw, I didn't say that YOU watch MSNBC. lol Kid, before you throw around adult adjectives like "liberal" and "conservative", I suggest that you first understand the terms. ( You will refuse to actually learn those terms .....for some odd years yet ;o)
@Stratslayer Yeah the republicans pushed civil rights. And the moment it became expediant they became anti black anti urban anti civil rights right wing fruit cakes. And speaking of bigots,as a black man I suggest you find a way to be anti Obama that doesn't make you sound like Bull Connor. You sound like a teabagger.
@harkying99 : ..and YOU sound like a typically racist "boulder on the shoulder" paranoid black who lives in a world where white man is evil and black man is forever the "poor wittle" helpless victim. The Democrats were and ARE the party of slavery. They want the masses addicted to meager handouts so as to better control them and sow up their self deficating votes perpetually. You're programmed kid.
@Stratslayer You have to remember at that time, Republicans were considered liberals. Over the years, the center has been moving further and further to the right, and we've seen it movie more ow since we have a moderate conservative black man in the white house whom the far right claim to be a far leftist/socialist.
it would have made sense if he was actually talking about politicians you twat. He wasn't.
Really? Because most libertarians I know actually have a brain that functions right.
@TruthSearcher123 : Hey kid, Who the hell taught you that the country (and politics) is moving RIGHT ??? Hahahaha!!!! Ahhh kid, you are so absolutely screwed up. lol BTW kid, I was commenting "off topic" and my statements concerning him stand. he is a liberal and believes in liberalism. No conservative/smaller govt. guy EVER stupidly concludes that Repubs are worse than Dumbocrats. Oh, and by "conservative", I don't mean the fanatic religious right so save the kiddie fluff.
@Stratslayer No one taught me, it's clear that throughout time, republicans have been moving further right more and more. Like you calling Obama, who is a moderate conservative, a marxist.
"No conservative/smaller govt. guy EVER stupidly concludes that Repubs are worse than Dumbocrats" Actually I have plenty of friends who do, whether they be libertarian or conservative.
Well I wasn't planning on bringing religion into something that had nothing to do with religion. W00t for stupidity!
@TruthSearcher123 : Give me specific examples of how republicans are moving "further right" kid. lol The give me specific examples of how lol ! Obama is a "moderate conservative ROFL!...I'll wait for the examples. lol You're "friends" are "kids", just as ....you, are a ...kid. ;o) Just what makes you think that YOU are a liberal...eh kiddo? lol ( This will be fun!)
@TruthSearcher123 "No one taught me" ...Is that right kid?? So then you were just born thinking that you hate Repubs or conservs and you knew that you were a lol "liberal" while sucking upon your mother's tit? Interesting form of "logic" you employ kid. lol
The government can only level the playing field by taking money from some people (usually without their consent) and giving it to others.
The problem there is that the government has declared this action illegal; if you did it, you would be jailed. The government is breaking its own laws and getting away with it, thus creating a two-tier system, with them being effectively above the law. How about levelling *that* playing field instead?
@Guncriminal The problem with this line of reasoning is that governments aren't citizens. You are also not allowed to imprison people, execute people, print your own currency, levy a tax on your neighbors, etc.
libertarianism is always espoused by intelligent uneducated people. and they always think they're really enlightened when they learn about it; they think they've found some magic book of secrets.
why do people make sweeping criticisms of your points when they themselves have failed to grasp the message? my only criticism is more of a creative editorial: sticky, gooey brownies come to mind, rather than "greasy chocolate cake" in terms of your bullshit analogy because ... well, it's hardly polite to delineate.
thanks, as always, for providing me with something to enjoy.
Last time I checked, the government was stealing half my money, threatening me with jail if I open a business without giving them pay-off cash, and helping the big guys. What the hell are you talking about, sir? The government is NOT there to help the little guy.
LOL When "leveling the playing field" means forcibly starting one team off with 10 points before the game begins, your metaphor will work. But here in the real world, not so much.
the irony is that he's in the armed forces, the most deluded of welfare programs. I know yer wife's in the navy now etc, but seriously it's like have tramps work for food - welfare with a sense of dignity. Except, obviously, the dignity comes in shooting people in the head for being brown, etc.
I like Mannix and have an overall dislike of Inmendham,
so I'm pretty disconcerted that Gary's retort has such validity -- even his vulgarities had truth to them. In addition to other questionable characteristics of Brandon's analogy, I find seeing the concept of bullying on youtube parallel with distributing progressive tax to welfare-ers difficult.
I'm relieved that you don't agree with Mannix, Azrienoch. At least you still make sense when everything's backwards.
I admit it - I had to go and watch Mannix's video in order to understand yours - I am subscribed to him but I rarely watch anything about inmendham as he does not speak to my condition.
Just a quick point - when did Americans get the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - they are in the Declaration of Independence but not explicitly in the US constitution.
I find it interesting to see how some people (myself included) see the Constitution as a living document and those that see it as a complete, inviolate document that must not be changed. I mean, what's the point to having such a thing? It ceases to be something to found a nation upon and becomes the core tenet of a faith. Oh... I think I may have just answered my own question...
So much better than my own response. I can't help it though. He makes me sad, and emotional. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to play with myself and continue to get drunk, because nothing says apathy quite as well as orgasms and vodka.
You missed the whole analogy. Your fundamental rights are not the same as a level playing field. Rights are what your allowed to do. A level playing field is propping up someone while lowering someone else. If your rich and privileged and are thus disadvantaged to make the playing field level, that isn't a right.
@Joekitty001 I'm sorry, but no. You're also allowed privileges, but you don't have a right to them. Yet. You don't have a right to drive a car, but you can. You don't have a right to make purchases, but you do. Rights are the bottom line. It's where everyone starts. And it's a level playing field.
@azrienoch Again, you don't get it. They are talking about economics. Your talking about Constitutional rights. A level playing field is a term for ensuring fairness between people or businesses. Rights grant freedom. Everyone has rights. If your leveling the playing field economically, how is that a right? Let's put it this way; what economic rights do you have? Do you have any?
@Joekitty001 But they're also talking about government control. All laws stem from those rights, and there are certainly laws regarding economic issues. I can't for example, have a monopoly on a market, and I certainly can't take steps to ensure I dominate the market by unfairly removing competition. I therefore have the right to fair competition.
On top of that, the first explicit economic constitutional right I have is to own a gun. "Own" is the key word here.
This is savory pwnsauce. Thank you so much for making the point so clearly. I'm so sick of this social Darwinist, selfish, hedonistic bullshit, and Republicans who call themselves something else because they are ashamed of their Republican-ness. For society to flourish, those who give a fuck have to look out for each other.
and I think you misunderstood his analogy fundamentally. I don't think he meant to refer to himself as the little fish. It was mostly about censorship.
The government protects our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness so long as we submit to their theft through taxation and allow them to spend that money as they please with the illusion that we can make big changes to how they spend it. As for voting rights, they'd be irrelevant if we didn't have such an enormous government, (geographically), and the only reason big business has the ability to screw people over is because they pay for the politicians which don't have to be there.
@madeye0 Well, I wasn't trying to look smart. I'm just an annoyed foreigner, who has to stop this video every ten freaking seconds to catch up with the cadence.
Essentially, I feel as if the government's only role as far as "leveling the playing field" goes, should be to provide equality in voting power. No more, no less. I am not entirely sure as to what you are arguing about however.... lol?

Christ, you are stupid. Just go suck FOX News and the GOP's cock.
TruthSearcher123 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 : Wow. Strong argument. lol
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@Stratslayer -_- youre a moron.
you were going to assume I watched MSNBC. I can already tell. You did it to azrienoch.
I will take all that you have said in no seriousness whatsoever. If you were serious, you wouldn't be such a cunt about liberals and anything that goes against you're retarded responses.
TruthSearcher123 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 : Hahaha! So NOW you are also a "mind reader" / claravoiyant eh kid ?? lol You really hate MSNBC don't you? lol ...Oh, but then the lol! Huffington Post and "Google "news" are MUCH more conservative than MSNBC. Hahaha!!! I'm sorry kid...I don't mean to laugh at you so much but you are really too funny to not laugh at. You've brightened my day kid! lol!!
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@Stratslayer there you go again, assuming. I never said I "hate" MSNBC, i dont watch it because some of what they put on there isn't news, some of it is shit thats going on in pop culture which i dont give 2 shits about. I never said Huffington Post and Google News is more conservative.
I like Olberman but that doesn't mean I want to suck his cock. Just because I dont watch him daily doesnt mean i hate him.
TruthSearcher123 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 : "ass will get owned" ?? lol...How old are you kid? 15? lol I not only know that he watches Olberman, I also know that he watches Maddow, Maher, MSNBC ( in general), CNN, and he "cherry picks" liberal articles written in liberal periodicals, magazines, "news"papers, and AP news bulletins. I'm doubtful that you read anything kid. ( Which is better than reading socialist publications and programming)
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@Stratslayer and how do you know this exactly???
I never watch network news because its not news so dont try any of the MSNBC bullshit I know you oh so want to. I get my news from sites like the Huffington Post, Google News, etc. (Yes we ALL know Huffington Post has a liberal slant. My preemptive response is fuck off. No one who has anything worth saying cares. Spread your retarded conservative bias somewhere else)
TruthSearcher123 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 : LOL !!! Huffington post and "google" "news" ?? Hahaha!!! Kid Your "preemptive response" means ZERO to me. The fact is that you are extremely young, extremely naive, and extremely misguided and undereducated. btw, I didn't say that YOU watch MSNBC. lol Kid, before you throw around adult adjectives like "liberal" and "conservative", I suggest that you first understand the terms. ( You will refuse to actually learn those terms .....for some odd years yet ;o)
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@Stratslayer I wish I was surprised at how little your comment had to do with anything.

You sound like a teabagger.
harkying99 1 year ago
@harkying99 : ..and YOU sound like a typically racist "boulder on the shoulder" paranoid black who lives in a world where white man is evil and black man is forever the "poor wittle" helpless victim. The Democrats were and ARE the party of slavery. They want the masses addicted to meager handouts so as to better control them and sow up their self deficating votes perpetually. You're programmed kid.
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@Stratslayer fuck you I hope you get cancer
harkying99 1 year ago
@Stratslayer You have to remember at that time, Republicans were considered liberals. Over the years, the center has been moving further and further to the right, and we've seen it movie more ow since we have a moderate conservative black man in the white house whom the far right claim to be a far leftist/socialist.
it would have made sense if he was actually talking about politicians you twat. He wasn't.
Really? Because most libertarians I know actually have a brain that functions right.
TruthSearcher123 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 : Hey kid, Who the hell taught you that the country (and politics) is moving RIGHT ??? Hahahaha!!!! Ahhh kid, you are so absolutely screwed up. lol BTW kid, I was commenting "off topic" and my statements concerning him stand. he is a liberal and believes in liberalism. No conservative/smaller govt. guy EVER stupidly concludes that Repubs are worse than Dumbocrats. Oh, and by "conservative", I don't mean the fanatic religious right so save the kiddie fluff.
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@Stratslayer No one taught me, it's clear that throughout time, republicans have been moving further right more and more. Like you calling Obama, who is a moderate conservative, a marxist.
"No conservative/smaller govt. guy EVER stupidly concludes that Repubs are worse than Dumbocrats" Actually I have plenty of friends who do, whether they be libertarian or conservative.
Well I wasn't planning on bringing religion into something that had nothing to do with religion. W00t for stupidity!
TruthSearcher123 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 : Give me specific examples of how republicans are moving "further right" kid. lol The give me specific examples of how lol ! Obama is a "moderate conservative ROFL!...I'll wait for the examples. lol You're "friends" are "kids", just as ....you, are a ...kid. ;o) Just what makes you think that YOU are a liberal...eh kiddo? lol ( This will be fun!)
Stratslayer 1 year ago
@TruthSearcher123 "No one taught me" ...Is that right kid?? So then you were just born thinking that you hate Repubs or conservs and you knew that you were a lol "liberal" while sucking upon your mother's tit? Interesting form of "logic" you employ kid. lol

@Stratslayer I said that it's been clearly shown that the right has shifted more and more to the right. Do you not know how to read?

The government can only level the playing field by taking money from some people (usually without their consent) and giving it to others.
The problem there is that the government has declared this action illegal; if you did it, you would be jailed. The government is breaking its own laws and getting away with it, thus creating a two-tier system, with them being effectively above the law. How about levelling *that* playing field instead?
Guncriminal 1 year ago
@Guncriminal The problem with this line of reasoning is that governments aren't citizens. You are also not allowed to imprison people, execute people, print your own currency, levy a tax on your neighbors, etc.

At least you still make sense when everything's backwards.
selectivexhearing 1 year ago
I admit it - I had to go and watch Mannix's video in order to understand yours - I am subscribed to him but I rarely watch anything about inmendham as he does not speak to my condition.
Just a quick point - when did Americans get the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - they are in the Declaration of Independence but not explicitly in the US constitution.

I have a similar reaction whenever I hear Christians complain about how they are being 'oppressed' by other faiths in the US. In the US? Really?
Try being a Pagan.
tetsubo57 1 year ago
I find it interesting to see how some people (myself included) see the Constitution as a living document and those that see it as a complete, inviolate document that must not be changed. I mean, what's the point to having such a thing? It ceases to be something to found a nation upon and becomes the core tenet of a faith. Oh... I think I may have just answered my own question...
tetsubo57 1 year ago
So much better than my own response. I can't help it though. He makes me sad, and emotional. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to play with myself and continue to get drunk, because nothing says apathy quite as well as orgasms and vodka.

Is this a new feature YT does I've just never really noticed? Or is it only specific channels that have access to it?
TheTruePooka 1 year ago
You missed the whole analogy. Your fundamental rights are not the same as a level playing field. Rights are what your allowed to do. A level playing field is propping up someone while lowering someone else. If your rich and privileged and are thus disadvantaged to make the playing field level, that isn't a right.
Joekitty001 1 year ago
@Joekitty001 I'm sorry, but no. You're also allowed privileges, but you don't have a right to them. Yet. You don't have a right to drive a car, but you can. You don't have a right to make purchases, but you do. Rights are the bottom line. It's where everyone starts. And it's a level playing field.
azrienoch 1 year ago 6
@azrienoch Again, you don't get it. They are talking about economics. Your talking about Constitutional rights. A level playing field is a term for ensuring fairness between people or businesses. Rights grant freedom. Everyone has rights. If your leveling the playing field economically, how is that a right? Let's put it this way; what economic rights do you have? Do you have any?
Joekitty001 1 year ago 2
@Joekitty001 But they're also talking about government control. All laws stem from those rights, and there are certainly laws regarding economic issues. I can't for example, have a monopoly on a market, and I certainly can't take steps to ensure I dominate the market by unfairly removing competition. I therefore have the right to fair competition.
On top of that, the first explicit economic constitutional right I have is to own a gun. "Own" is the key word here.
