Wow.... has Sting ever had an original gimmick of his own making??!
Let's see, first it was ripping off the Road Warriors when he was teaming with that douche The Warrior as The Blade Runners... then he just refined that rip off during his singles career a touch, before morphing into a complete rip off of The Crow, and now it's The Joker??! I guess he's avoided ever trying to rip off Kiss because he is afraid of how good their lawyers are..
i dont watch tna but decided to click on this to see what everyone talks about, Jim Carey and the Joker had a kid. Surprised Warner Bros didnt sue em like Vince did for copyright infringement! What a shock that a company run by Bitchoff has no creativity whatsoever and has to rip off other people's gimmicks! Didn't even get a laugh out of this. Minor league wrestling crap!
oh god tna is so unoriginal here i thought when tna first showed itself on tv i thought god this will be better than wwe pg but noooooooooooooo its not its more fucking gay hahaha this is not funny and it makes me not wanna watch tna and i never wanted to watch it
@roderickperere TNA is trying so hard to be WCW in its prime that its turning into WCW in 1999. TNA makes the mistake of bringing in a well known WCW/ECW/WWE star, giving them the title and kicking them to the undercard, look at Rhino, Christian and Raven. All great stars who may not have made it big in WWE (Cept for Christian) go to TNA make it big for five minute and then just feud with abyss. and WWE is way better now that Batistas gone and Cena isnt champ, 2005-2008 was a horrible era.
@MaggotJustin92 Heath Ledger didn't die wearing face paint, unlike Brandon Lee, Ledger actually finished filming on The Dark Knight and did not die during. He passed away sometime during the filming of another film titled "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". It was due to mixing a couple of medications he was taking to help him sleep, he had developed a sever case of insomnia.
Can some one answer me this ....why THE FUCK r there sooo many wwe wrestlers in TNA???...i havent seen wrestling in like 7-8yrs...but i like lookin at some videos too see how fucked up things got in wwe....hahah
From the WWF American gimmick sting to the WCW Crow era, This Joker gimmick has taken Stings Character and killed a 20+ year career in only a few months.
@cruiser1990 I disagree. People hate the gimmick and NOT Sting. There is a difference. Steve could dress up as Doink The Clown and it still wouldn't take away from his legacy.
@papillonaquatique Wouldn't it? Look At Ric Flair as a prime example of a man who had one of the greatest send-offs anyone in the business could ever ask for, To be paid respect by all your peers and fans, and then he went and ruined that whole event in his life by coming back out of retirement and wrestling again
@cruiser1990 Sting didn't retire. Flair did and although I agree that if he was going to get that kind of send off that he should have only come out for special matches after that he is RIC FLAIR. He can retire and unretire anytime he damn well pleases. Just look at Hulk Hogan. Retirement is no longer sacred. It is just another presentation to attract fans to what could be a legends last show.
"Celebrities and other non-wrestler "guests" should not be involved in wrestling."
Ever since Andre & Hogan made it mainstream in the 70s/80s, celebs have always appeared. Face it, I loved the Attitude Era too, but it wasn't immune to fuck-ups (the whole thing with Mae Young giving birth to a hand proves it), and truth be told, wrestling's always been family-oriented & you'll never see ratings as high as they were in the 90s ever again.
when did sting become a garishly painted jim carrey...for fuck sake
and the tna ppl wonder why the wrestling world considers them a goddamn joke...pitifull..and more than a little damaging to stings ever diminishing legacy.is he broke?whats going on...is his sense of loyalty to w/e is compelling him to remain there so powerfull as to override good sense?are they paying him so well that he doesnt mind being a joke..im serious if some1 knows please respond im not being a dick i really want to know
Why is everybody complaining about stings turn as a crazy. Much more coherent and entertaining than Mark henry or Kali dancing in the ring with Hornswoggle
Well, it may not be wrestling, but I thought it was freakin' hilarious!!!
I've always liked Sting and his Joker persona seems to have given him licence to enjoy himself and LITERALLY go nuts. A complete change from his Crow phase.
have any of you guy givin it any thought that this is what sting might have wanted to do for a last run? that this is what he enjoys doing. just let the man be himself for once
Jesus.....my friend actually got me curious into watching TNA...and sent me this clip of how awesome it is....not only did it do the exact opposite, but I'm realllly starting to question my friendships -_-.
@ripTheRevPaulGray no sir sting is awesome, what they did to him was wrong, I mean the show TNA not sting is getting its butt kicked by WWE muppets, and im not talking about the muppets with a hand up its ass.
@iProHeartless lol im taking you must be a child and never seen sting in his wcw days, fighting flair and cactus jack, like I said I have nothing against sting and what he is, im just sad to see what they have done to him, and the muppet thing was meant that most of the wwe Wrestlers are cartoon characters.
1. I like wrestling, I like comics, & I like the Muppets. ALL are damn well entertaining & both the comic world & the Muppets have been dark well BEFORE wrestling. Episodes from The Muppet Show of the 70s & Frank Miller's gritty, gun-toting Batman have PROVEN this.
2. Wrestling has ALWAYS been comic book-like & Muppet-like. This Joker gimmick just further exemplifies this fact.
3. Sting's NOT original. He referenced The Crow (Eric Draven) in WCW, too.
@ripTheRev: You're the child. Watch some Muppet Show episodes. They were edgy well before wrestling was in a vaudeville kind of way. Explosions (Crazy Harry), Muppets eating other Muppets (usually involving Muppet monsters), sex jokes (often from Piggy to her frog Kermit), etc. were a staple of the Muppets' humor. After Jim Henson died in 1990, everything--from the Muppets themselves to TV overall in later decades--went to pot, but the new Muppet movie brought it all back.
@TherealRNO That's cool and all that you know everything about the muppets. But they, like most other "guest hosts" that stupid company has, are not related to wrestling and are generally irrelevant to most fans. i never liked the muppets, but i'm sure they are more entertaining than wwe.
@ripTheRevPaulGray: You forget...WWE is a media empire. Yes, wrestling is its core product, but it now produces movies & reality TV, as well as a new network come 2012. Besides, wrestling has ALWAYS had celebrities, much like how The Muppet Show had celebs like Alice Cooper, Vincent Price, Edgar Bergen, etc. of yesteryear. It even has a Celeb Wing in the Hall of Fame for Lawrence Taylor, Pete Rose, & Drew Carey.
@ripTheRevPaulGray: Anyhow, my point was that wrestling ALWAYS was comic book-like (Hogan's Rock 'n Wrestling cartoon of the 80s in the vein of 60s-70s Adam West Batman PROVED this years ago, things like Mae Young giving birth to The Addams Family's Thing & the whole necrophilia/Katie Vick angle with Kane PROVED it in the 90s & 00s, and Joker Sting is PROVING it now in the 10s).
@TherealRNO I do not give a shit about the similarities between comics and wrestling. Not at all. Joker Sting doesn't even exist at this point. Celebrities and other non-wrestler "guests" should not be involved in wrestling. What's worse? WWE usually puts them in matches. As though their in-ring product didn't suck enough.
@ripTheRevPaulGray: Plus, Pee Wee's show (before the Saturday morning Playhouse, back when Pee Wee looked up Miss Yvonne's revealing dress on Broadway in the 80s) & the Muppets (see the 70s Muppet Show) were edgy well ahead of wrestling. When Hogan still ran Hulkamania wild & had that cornball cartoon, Pee Wee was doing shots of Telquila for Tim Burton (Pee Wee's Big Adventure) & the Muppets were chaos itself via explosions, self-cannibalism, sex jokes, etc.
Haven't watched wrestling in years, so don't know what's going on here. I like the Joker makeup, but as for the actual character, it doesnt fit the Sting character history and mentality. I dont even want to know how he went from saviour to nutcase.
I remember that guy in the All-State commercial as a young detective from the early days of Law and Order:SVU. He must have had a hard time finding work up to the point of doing these commercials.
At 2:27 tell me Eric doesnt lookb & sound like he's being turned on by stings yelling.. sounds like hes saying "You are naughtier than I thought...*Blank Stare*..."
I think Sting watches way too much tv. He steals his look from the Crow, then the Joker, next thing you know hes gonna be Baby Doll from Sucker Punch.
@WeaponAmerica What the fuck have you in your water? This is one of his best wrestlers all time, better than Hogan, his on the way down with the sun, but what do for tna is brillant:) So please take cafe next time not water.
@WeaponAmerica Sting is not stealing gimmicks, he was honoring Brandon Lee's Crow and now he is honoring Heath Ledgers Joker...both men had great final performances.
@majorenDK Dude wrestling gimmicks have been taken from somewhere over the years.
Razor Ramon/Tony Montana, Oz/The Wizard of Oz, Paul Burchill's Pirate Gimmick/Jack Sparrow, John Morrison/Jim Morrison, Beth Phoenix/WonderWoman, Glacier/Sub-Zero, Vinnie Vegas/Steve Martin's character in My Blue Heaven, The Shockmaster/Star Wars Stormtrooper, Robbie E/Pauly from Jersey Shore, Winter/Maleficent (Maybe).
@AgeOfPunk The problem here is that he's doing a terrible job of "honoring" Ledger. He did a good, probably even a great job of "honoring" Brandon Lee. But he acts more like Jim Carrey as The Riddler than Heath Ledger as The Joker.
@HomicidalEntity You know Sting most likely has full creative control over his character? I mean the guys a legend/ veteran. This is most likely his choice to be like this.
I miss when Sting was silent too, but how long could he keep that gimmick up? it was badass though. Definitely his characters peak.
the unoriginality just kills it. Sting does the character well. He just don't make it original. He even start wearing the costume, to make it even less original... Just bad. Unoriginality is just bad.
I'm a TNA and Sting fan...but seriously? this is just stupid and unoriginal, we all know heath ledger played the "joker" sting is TRYING to be for some god awful reason, and why? there's no reason to play a mainstream comic book character gimmick when you're pretty much in iconic legend yourself...i hate it, and I seriously can't understand how people like it
wht the fk is this. i was hoping to see some classic wcw shit, not a comedy sketch

@WeaponAmerica its all about the face paint
djmac3005 3 months ago
@WeaponAmerica um no, actually Scott Hall was the person who came up with The Crow idea for Sting. Look it up.

@WeaponAmerica What the fuck have you in your water? This is one of his best wrestlers all time, better than Hogan, his on the way down with the sun, but what do for tna is brillant:) So please take cafe next time not water.
TedBundy78 3 months ago

@iqy92 I agree with you, TNA has signed all the big names in pro wrestling history and their ratings went nowhere.

@AgeOfPunk more like Shitting on Heath Ledgers Joker
MeThinks995 1 month ago
@AgeOfPunk The problem here is that he's doing a terrible job of "honoring" Ledger. He did a good, probably even a great job of "honoring" Brandon Lee. But he acts more like Jim Carrey as The Riddler than Heath Ledger as The Joker.
TheVampireEd 1 month ago
@AgeOfPunk The crow gimmick wasn't even his suggestion. That was Scott Hall's.
TheSammyreynolds 1 month ago
@WeaponAmerica you do realize too that the bookers and storyline writers come up with the wrestler's gimmicks too right?

he doesnt really remind me of the joker in voice, he reminds me more of Fire Marshall Bill from In Living Color.

Being somebody who grew up watching sting in the 90s, this just sickens me...
HomicidalEntity 4 months ago 3
@HomicidalEntity You know Sting most likely has full creative control over his character? I mean the guys a legend/ veteran. This is most likely his choice to be like this.
I miss when Sting was silent too, but how long could he keep that gimmick up? it was badass though. Definitely his characters peak.

PMSL JOKER STING IS BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!! HAHAAHHAAHA
ChristianCageCarisma 4 months ago
the unoriginality just kills it.
