  • Hey, its killer.

That pickup is better than Seymour Duncan Screamin' daemon?

  • @ManFromNothing Depends on what you're using the pickup for. I like the Screamin' Demon, but I prefer the Holy Diver. I don't think one is automatically better than the other.

  • hi, what do you think it's better? dimarzio or bkp?

  • @jmdb1994 Both manufacturers have their strengths. It really depends on lots of factors: the tone you are going for, your gear, and your budget! I have BKs in all of my guitars, but I realize not everyone can afford to do that. There are a few DiMarzios that I really like, too.

  • Thank you.I did not know.May you make kindly a new video on Holy Diver most complete with some riff metal and lead.Hi

  • Are you sure? I know that it was inspired at sound of Vivian Campbell that used Di Marzio Super Distortion pick up.In effect this sound is very similar while I know that JB ispired the "Rebel Yell" model.Hi

  • @SEBANO1974 I've direct compared an ORIGINAL Duncan JB, before the base plates were even stamped, against the Alnico Holy Diver in that same guitar. They are very similar. Nailbomb/Cold Sweat = classic DiMarzio type of tone (but better). Holy Diver = classic Duncan type of tone.

  • If you look my video you can note that I use Seymour D. sh-14.You find that pick up has similarities to the Holy Diver because I find the sh-14 a valid bases of departure.

  • @SEBANO1974 The Holy Diver does have a similar tonal base to the JB, in fact.

  • Thank you.Actually I have a set in mahogany guitars and I have heard that this can play dark in the mid frequency with Holy Diver.I have heard Cold Sweat and I don't like it because it seems a little chilly down.Hi

  • @SEBANO1974 A solid mahog guitar with set neck can, indeed, be dark sounding. The VHII will add some much needed snap to that setup!

  • Hi.I'm undecided between the Bare knuckle VHII and Holy Diver..What are the differences more obvious between these two pick up.Note I like the brown sound like Van Halen but I most play metal. Thanks

  • @SEBANO1974 The VHII is a bit brighter than the Holy Diver, and you have to fight it a bit more to get the same level of push as the HD. The HD has more output and will push your amp a bit harder. Both are amazing pickups, however, but if you have a bright guitar, a Holy Diver or Cold Sweat is a better option than the VHII.

  • the riff that u play in the start reminds me an old band mainEEaxe...

  • sweet axe,!!! but would be nicer if there was a neck pickup !

  • What would you all say to having the holy diver pickup for lead and the warpig for rhythm?? think they would work well together?

  • That tone is excellent!

    George would be proud...

  • @awesomejohnnet Thanks!

  • How did you achieve this sound?

My Holy Divers do not sound like this at all.

    They are so warm.

  • @rocksully Do you have an orginal, ceramic Holy Diver, or one of the new Alnico ones. Amp/cab selection has a lot to do with it, too ...

  • @TwilightOdyssey Do ceramic magnets generally give pickups a warmer sound? Or do Alnico magnets do that?

  • @klummster88 Generally, ceramic pups give you a more aggressive tone, but there is a lot going on besides just the pickups, of course.

  • @TwilightOdyssey Sorry man I just don't know what everyone means when they say "aggressive" but I love warm tones and warm leads. In most cases I'll use the neck pickup for almost everything. I'm thinking about getting a Les Paul (all mahogany) but I'll either be swapping the pups out for some Bare Knuckle's or some Alnico II Pro's. Which would you recommend from the Bare Knuckle range?

  • @klummster88 I would term aggressive as meaning it has extra push in the high frequencies and will also drive an amp into crunch/distortion with more ease than an Alnico pickup. I don't know what country you live in, but here in the US, the BKs are about double the price of the Duncans, so that might settle your decision right there. If the guitar is ALL mahog, like you are saying -- I'm guessing mahog body/neck and a rosewood fingerboard -- you will probably want something (more)

  • @TwilightOdyssey ... that will compliment that already dark tone. I would say Riff Raffs are a good start; you can check out my Riff Raff clips for comparison.

  • Sounds good. I have the Warpig ....best ive ever played or had or heard. Love it!!

  • I see on your shirt you practice Shukokai Karate? Or is that just the chuck norris approved thingy? :c

Nice demo bro, keep rockin em bareknuckles, can't wait to get a pair myself lol.

  • @TuxedoDrum hehe, actually it's a Cobra Kai shirt! Cobra Kai never die!

  • @TwilightOdyssey holy fk, sweet dude. i got to spar against a CK three years ago, i had a rough time there 0,0

  • 80s tonal bliss!

  • What song??

    (by Japanese boy)

  • That's just a riff I was playing around with.

  • really great brother, but out of tune :/

  • HA! First person to realize that! :)

It's intonated, but yeah -- was really flat that day. I had literally woke up from a flight from England, installed the pickup, and shot the vid! :)

  • haha, it's alright, you've done great 'demoing' this PU

  • Is that the ESP George lynch model? Nice.

    ESP ftw.

  • Yep, ESP M1. :)

  • @TwilightOdyssey i had the ltd one its junk i bought broke 20 and striped paint down and the cheaper lower grade wood on the ltd is so sad litterly 4 pieces of wood glued together, not on soli piece of mahogany sad

  • Good playing, but not too much of a fan of the sound. Cheers ;)

  • Hey there:) I'm considering putting a Holy Diver or a Nailbomb in the bridge of my HSS for power metal, wich of the two do you think fits most?:p Nice playing btw:)

  • Thanks! :)

I hate to say "it depends", but it really does lol. If you have a basswood guitar, you should go with the Nailbomb -- that is a great combination!

  • It can be, especially the original 14k version. The newer 16k version less so.

  • well my guitar has a wood called poplar and i think it has a sort of bright-ish tone (my guitar is a vintage v99)

  • im thinkin of buyin a pair of bareknuckle pickups, but i dont know with 1 tho, im lookin for a humbucker pickup thats hot and dynamic but i dont want to sound too eddie van halen, i wanna find my own sound, can any of you guys help me out pleaze :) it could rele help me alot thx

  • Depending on what your amp is and what type of sound you're going for, you should check out the Riff Raff (I have some RR vids up here someplace) and the Rebel Yell!

  • I myself thought is was sweet!........Good job dude and man don't those tiger guitars rock?..I love mine!

  • It sounds so thin! Totally not what I was expecting.

  • You're welcome!

Nailbomb/Cold Sweat would be a great combo! The neck Cold Sweat isn't ceramic, however, just the bridge is.

The only ceramic neck pickup is the Painkiller.

  • The Holy Diver would sound good, but might be a bit too dark for your taste.

I think a Cold Sweat, Miracle Man, or Nailbomb would sound great in a mahog guitar!

  • Can we hear that Agile behind you instead?

  • Check out my other clips; I have at least two of em with the blue Agile. :)

  • what kind of amp are u using ??

  • Splawn Quick Rod

  • I noticed that in the photos on the ESP site both the M1 & the LTD version of this guitar have a curved edge on the body like yours, yet the LTD version i've seen in videos has a pretty flat edge & the body looks thicker than in the photo. I don't really like that about the LTD. Not only that, but in the photo the LTD looks like the yellow fades less at the edge of the body, but when you see it in Youtube vids you can see the edge fades almost to white even more so than this one. Wonder why?

  • ESP M1

  • mmm Splawn amps! Good to see another owner out there in the world.

  • What kind of pickups is in that george lynch guitar?

  • maybe seymour duncan george lynch screaming demon... im not sure

  • It's the title of the video guys, come on...The Bare Knuckle Holy Diver

  • Oh, well I didn't realize that that was the pickup name. Well, thanks man

  • hey dude, me again, can you sweep pick? if so can you post a vid showing us! all the best.

  • dude Agiles kick ass

    :]

    i hope you enjoy yours

  • is that my old pro mod?

  • dude ur awsum. wat stuff do u listen to? wat r ur influences? cheers

  • Cheers! I listen to all sorts of stuff; as far as guitar music goes, a lot of what you would call melodic metal. My main influences are Lynch, Akira Takasaki, Criss Oliva, Dave Mustaine, Warren DeMartini.

  • sup bud!! im glad to see criss oliva is a influence!! GREAT guitarist and musician!!. i road crewed for sava for a while and criss and i became pretty good buds. RIP criss miss ya man!!

  • Nice Agile in the Background. AL3K?

  • Good eye!

It's an AL2800, trans blue, Riff Raff/Stormy Monday pickups. :)

  • Awesome!

  • killer guitar man gotta love lynch

  • What song is this?

    Sounds like Lynch.

  • Thanks!

It's just some random riffing, actually.

  • Really nice tone. I must admit that it sounds great, even though I am not particularly fond of this gain style... 5 stars for the tone, however!

  • nice guitar. evh style is the best!!

  • actually.. he is playing like george lynch ;)

and on a GL sig guitar

    they play awesome

  • Tiger guitar LOL, but sounds nice .

  • sounds pretty mint

not my kind of guitar, haha

or my kind of eqing and etc but sweet

as far as theory learning goes, dave navaro once said "music theory is realy amazingly important. however, you learn it and kind of forget it or not think about it but it always stays with you and you use it without realising. much ling driving a car or riding a bicycle

  • i want that guitar!!

  • Twilight, what tubes are you using?

  • For the preamp tubes, I'm using the Mullard reissues.

For the power tubes, I'm using a mix of Mullard and Electro Harmonix. I find that using all Mullards is too edgy and all EH is too edgy. This mix works best.

I have a set of Svetlana EL34s, also, but haven't tried them out yet.

  • Very true. The main thing is that you learn so much faster with a good teacher.

  • not necessarily. all a teacher can do is show you how they do it, and as we all know not everyone plays the same.

  • A good teacher teaches you music theory. Music is the same as a language, you need to know how it works before you can express yourself fluently.

A quote from Billy Sheehan...."You need to know the rules before you can break them."

  • yes, they'll teach you music theory... which is nothing you can't learn for yourself just as easily, if not easier.

while you can learn theory for yourself or from a teacher, a teacher cannot teach you real technique. how the hand moves and reacts differs from person to person.

  • and who says you need theory anyway? hell, i even went through the trouble of learning it, only to find that i don't ever use it and that alot of things that are "theoretically correct" still sound like a horse taking a shit.

and i'm not alone in this technique i'm sure. slash is another prime example of a guitarist who knows no theory, can't read music, and knows nothing about intervals.

  • Imagine if slash took lessons though, he could start his own school

  • A good teacher teaches you what you need to know, and if you dont need to know theory, then you dont need to know theory.

  • you should learn some theory at least enough to communicate to other players ;]

  • your guitar is fantastic

  • Sweet sound from a non-active pickup.

I'll be getting the rebel yells soon.

  • hahaah!!! at 1 minute theres like a few bars of a riff that sounds like the first level from doom.classic!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Check out the chorus riff from Metallica's song "No Remorse" and you might find a striking similarity to E1M1's song :)

  • its a George lynche guitar ?

  • Yes, it's an ESP M1 Tiger.

  • Are those pickups active or passive?

  • Passive! I'm not the biggest fan of active pickups, since they tend to sound the same in any guitar you put em in. You can make a baseball bat sound like a guitar with active pickups!

  • I should try that....

  • Bareknuckle Pickups...what can I say. They are arguably the best on the market. This particular pickup is my own personal favorite which I have installed in a US Charvel San Dimas (and another going in one of my other Charvels asap). It screams like no other. I have used mostly Duncans over the years but I have to say that BKP's are now my No.1 choice. Tim, the founder of BKP's is a top guy, very helpful if you need any advise and is a fantastic guitarist aswell.

  • Freaking great job man. I'm 18, and everyone's telling me that it's too late to start playing guitar, but then I saw your video, and got inspired. Thanks a bunch for the video. I'll get to playing.

  • Its never to late to start guitar.

  • Don't worry. I was 17 when I started playing seriously and without even having an electric. I bought my first electric at around 2001-2002. I'm not a guitar master but I can play pretty decent rock and heavy metal pentatonic leads when in my group and I'm still learning. And yes with a teacher I would be much better for sure. You should seriously consider having a teacher. Good luck!

  • Nice! I have a Cold Sweat, as well.

    (I have several BK pups)

  • How would you compare the holy diver with say the cold sweat? Would you ever put a Cold Sweat in the M1??

  • They are not too disimilar from each other. The Cold Sweat will have more push on tap, as well as tighter bass.

I think that the CS would work really well in the M1.

  • sound good , what pickup is that , buy a seymour duncan black back , youll have 10 times the gain and tone , but man your damn good

  • Thanx, man. It's a Holydiver pickukp by Bare Knuckle Pickups in the UK. Much better than Duncans!!

  • yeah bare knuckles are mush better than Seymours. although i do like seymours.

  • nice tone... nice amp too... can I drool all over it?

  • Throw another humbucker in and it'll scream.

  • Bare Knuckle Pickups are the bomb. Nice sound.

  • nicee guitar!

  • Cool chops!
