  • Remember when we were afraid of nukes..songs like these made you forget about problems...good times those were

  • The Thompson Twins are still fucking awesome in 2012. I'd like to see them reunite in the future.

  • This song can never get old. I never get sick of hearing it. Its almost like I like it better every time I hear it!

  • This song is much better than I remembered it being.

  • I still love this song as much as the first time I heard it so long ago! Somethings never change for me. I still love the 80's music. The music that is big today really is very BAD and there is no real musicianship anymore!!

  • that drummer is also with THE COMMUNARDS..... WHO IS SHE?????

  • Pure musical heaven, take me back anytime.

  • gracias a dios que existe esta musica ok...

  • Oh my!!! My daughter went to school with their son.

  • Thanks God for this song!

  • Thompson Twins...Off the charts!! :D

  • unstable rock.....

  • OMG....this can not be topped...superior

  • Theeeeee most epic song ever, still gives me chills 25+ years later whenever I hear it!!

  • @BIGACE310 I totally agree with you! It has to be the BEST 80's song EVER!!!!!!

  • wat a good song

  • Woooo!

  • Whatever happened to xylophones in music videos???

  • Someone else has prolly pointed this out within the 567 comments, heh... But, while I understand that this is a music video and thus doesn't necessarily need to make sense (I love the Thompson Twins, btw, ever since the 80's!) but why on EARTH are there violin and cello players??? There are no violins or cellos heard on the soundtrack! LOL XD

  • @gadreel23 for visual effect

  • Love the song, too bad someone is too snobish to let it be part of a playlist. Jacksass.

  • Born in '81 I heard tons of 80s music as a kid back then (or at least during the 90s) and loved Hold Me Now, but that was all I knew from these guys for years. I heard this a few months ago and love it so much it feels like I grew up with it.

Old music is so catchy and grows on you really fast, as opposed to modern autotune shit, or most rap.

  • I remember back then everybody wanted to know if the guy and girl were twins and since there were three it confused everybody. lol

  • damn it! every time i hear this song i break out in a smile :)

  • god do i miss the 80's so much.I also listen to everything from VH ,OZZY,WASP,RONNIE JAMES DIO,ASIA AND GTR AND SO ON AND ONE.i ALSO LOVE MUSIC LIKE THIS AND MUSIC LIKE THIS WILL NEVER BE REPLACE .This song brings back a lot of great memories for me they played this great tune at all my school dancers god it was awsome and Jesus were does the time go .When i was 18 i said to my self that it will take a long time for me to be 40 and i passed 40 years 5 years ago god i am getting old lolololo

  • GOD DO I MISS THIS ERA THE BEST ERA EVERY FOR MUSIC AND MOVIES AND TV SHOWS

  • June Miles Kingston is the drummer

  • June Mile Kingston is the drummer

  • I love the 80´s new wave look

  • This is my favorite Thompson Twins song.

  • @belledame3 yes and i like all the David Bowie, Hall and Oat and Tina Turner look a likes at the end of the clip, good work.

  • Wow...so many memories! Thanks for posting this! :)

  • saw them in 85 they were qualitee

  • god do i miss this era and some many great memories of MTV and the great 10 years of music period todays Music sounds like rap thats why it sounds like crap. The awsome 80's and this band had some awsome tunes

  • Ooooooh ooooooooooooh ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

  • .... And i remember a version of this video, that had occasional "snapshots" of those in the audience .......

    Anyone else remembers that?

  • @RubberyCat - Did you watch until the end? - this one does.

  • @clairepresto

Nope, ..... well, i should have explained better, i guess .... technically, you are correct, but i did not mean the whole audience, but One "shot" centered on the "Cindy Lauper-lookalike", another centered on the white-facepaint-man(he's probably supposed to look like Screaming Lord Byron, a David Bowie-character), and so on.

It might have been a version released for the european audience, since i live in Sweden ...

  • one of my favorite Thomson Twins songs

  • Fall, 1985 Ah-ha, Tears for Fears and this group had songs with a very similar beat and all very good. Lightening strikes thrice!

  • great song

  • great band!!!

  • I would listen to the radio for hours on end to hear these good songs....as they came out. TT was one of my favorites because of the feeling in the music that I had identified with....and still do!!!!!

    Love your work TT

  • Oh Lays Your Hands On Me! & you are healed! Oh Lay hands on Me!

  • Molly Ringwald on piano!

  • Damn this song is so f'ng good!!! One of the great bands of the 80's even though like so many they were't around for very long

  • I used to love Thomson Twins back in the day. I remember their lyrics were a half step above the typical pop on the radio. This was around Grade 8 ish . I recall stations putting their stuff in heavy rotation

  • the drummer is from THE COMMUNARDS... kewl

  • Awwww....this version eliminated the percussive intro! :-(

Still a great song, though. But definitely missing something without that intro....

  • That is the drummer from the COMMUNARDS!!!!!!

  • the Twins hit #6 in Billboard, 11-23-85. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great weekend!

  • Reminds of the days of kicking back with a Donkey Kong JR Game & Watch, Sony Walkman and Tang.

  • is it me...... or is the drummer the same girl who was drumming for the COMMUNARDS????? :)

  • love this song!!!

  • great song from the gr eatestdecade ever

  • one of the best and personal favorite of mine from 1985

  • from what I last heard about them, they live in New Zealand, Earth nuts...but happy as all get out! That's all that matters! There's a little bit a squirrel in everybody....some more than others...hmmm!

  • yet a another vote that the 80's had the best music of any decade. Proud to graduate from HS in the middle of it.

  • @Hoodoohopper:

You were one of the "big kids". LOL

Unfortunately I was only a small girl during the 80's.

  • @SpankRamen2

HI, Sorry to hear you may have missed out on much of the 80's for being born late :) I am glad you can make up for lost time to see these videos online :) It is a great way to relive the past.

  • @Hoodoohopper:

I didn't miss out on the 80's. Born in '81, my 7:30 bedtime put a damper on things. LOL

  • ЗДОРОВО!

  • what i would'nt give to go back the 80's. things were so much more simple, miss it dearly!!

  • I must have seen this video at least 200 times since it was first released, and I *just* noticed this ... Molly Ringwald on piano? My god, that lady looks just like her!

  • @LaraHayes1986 Molly was never the best looking girl on the block, but she was never as ugly as the girl on the piano,go out and buy glasses right away:-)

  • @ebbhead20 She's not ugly. Not compared to your average leftwing chick, certainly.

  • i miss the 80:S the best era ever

  • 80 best music ever

  • 1980's music rules.

  • Oh yes yes yes!! I am lovin this :D

  • Tom's haircut is cool, What's it called?

  • I Totally love 80's music! Miss the era I grew up in! Thanks for sharing!

  • refreshing

  • AULAS DE HISTORIA/GEOGRAFIA PROFESSOR CARLOS ENEM/CONCURSO /VESTIBULAR 8574-3669 RECIFE-PERNAMBUCO

  • 12 stupid people...

  • I'm so sorry, but no one from THIS decade we're in can do epic pop like this. The melodies are rich, the vocals fey yet soulful, the rhythms insistent, and the hooks are simply joyful!

What sucks is that we will NEVER, EVER see a decade this musically rich again.

  • We're about to release a cover of this song this Friday...hopefully with a video...

  • I've seen them in concert in the '80's and they were GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

  • chorus is epic

  • It's really buggin' me - why does the pianist look like the girl from 'Pretty in Pink?' It's not, is it..?? ;^*

  • @videovixen71 Nop

  • @videovixen71 not Molly Ringwold.close resemblance though.

  • When I hear and see video I think of MTV.. I loved MTV back in the early 80's.. Great music!

  • This song is a good one for me to play when I'm feeling sad and don't have anyone around to cheer me up or lay their hands on me for that matter! :)

  • aaahhhhh... the memories this song brings rushing back..... this song is beautiful...

  • man! how do you not like the Thompson Twins??? Great song!

  • This old life seemed much too long

    Little point in going on

I couldn't think of what to say

Words just vanished in the haze

  • Esto es musica , unos de los mejores temas de los 80 .

  • Esto es musica

  • Loved them back then, Love them now

  • massively underrated, yet brilliantly memorable songs. epic!

  • this is the other song i liked

  • This band had it all. Great songs and voice. Still don't see how they are twins..lol

  • Great song from a great era and when the world was a much better and safer place.

  • 2:28 is that beverly de'angelo?

  • I find it funny that the Thompsons Twins are neither a duo or related

  • Reminds me the highway from Ottawa to Toronto. Around Kingston I've heard this song on the radio so many years after.

  • Comment removed

  • Saw Thompson Twins at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in 1983. It was a 3 band show with them first, followed by U2, followed by the English Beat as headliners. Terrific show all around.

  • @holzg01 I guess the promoters put the English Beat on last because they wanted to Save it for Later!

  • theestong writers, performers...my fav's...gotta love singing along with them?? am going to share it ACROSS FACEY FOR THE NEXT GEN!....this is music!

  • This is a truly inspired song. Some of the 80's music was the best I've ever heard. If you like this sound like I do, you might want to check out what some of my other favorites are: In a Big Country (by the same name), Heartland (The The), Shake the Disease (Depeche Mode), It's My Life (Talk Talk), Change (Tears for Fears), West End Girls (Pet Shop Boys), Wouldn't It Be Good (Nik Kershaw), All Come True (World Party), Welcome to the Boomtown (David and David). Check them out and enjoy.

  • @HowdyDooby and tenderness by general public

  • @MrChiffy Yes, is excellent, thanks. It's been so long I had forgotten that song, as I have probably a few others I really liked. Man, 25 years or so. Life is slow when you're going threw it, but passed as a moment once you've lived it. I would have no trouble living the rest of my life in the 80's!!!

  • They do make music like this now, it just doesn't sell like it used to. youtube mystery jets if you don't believe me.

  • @AbbiSPOKE Gasp! You are right! They even have the hair and the clothes down! :-)

  • @AbbiSPOKE Mystery Jets is epic,so are many indie bands that resemble this music

  • THEY JUST DON'T MAKE MUSIC LIKE THIS ANYMORE... WHAT A GREAT BAND...

  • It's the suits that killed them, unfortunately...

  • This is the best song from the 80's EVER!! Gives me the chills.

  • The 80's music was the best!!

  • ill give you a billion pesos to build it

  • Absolutely love it.

  • Approve

  • One of the best songs ever made, in my humble opinion.

  • They don't make them like this anymore.

  • GODDAMN my teenage years ruled out loud with a big metal spoon full of candy.

  • Did that lady on drums.Play on Fergal Sharkey video for a good heart ?

  • @motley123rock feargal sharkey? shit...u know ur stuff bro..haven't heard his name in ages...

  • Love this song!! It is the Thompson Twins finest song and takes me back to when I was 17!! Great memories!!

  • This must be a gospel song in its original writing. It is. For all of you in Rio Linda, a gospel song is a praise to the judeo_Christian God. i.e. Jesus, etc.

  • Loved all the English bands Duran Duran Howard Jones Thompson Twins etc...brings back those mems of 16yrear old driving in the camaro lol

  • come back we need your talent you were ace please do a come back like some of the other 80's groups but you were the best of them all long live the thompson twins

  • INTO THE GAP sold(december 2010)6 millions of copies around the world!!!

  • from Rose Rouse officiall THOMPSON TWINS bio:Not only the Thompson Twins changed their tunes they have also obtaineda yearly renewable lease on that room at the top of the pop charts.Into The Gap the Thompson Twins second album as a three piece.sold a stunning 800,000 copies in britain alone in 1984!surprisingly the sold more albums here than either Culture Club or Duran Duran. In the company of these, and the likes Frankie and Wham!the Thompson Twins are misfits!

  • and i keep wondering what had happened to end up in justin bieber... i´m with the people of the time machine!!!!

  • I always tried to spot the different 80's pop stars, in the crowd, at the end of the video :

Boy George, Simon LeBon, Cyndi Lauper...

I wish the video could be lighter

  • love that simple but catchy xylophone pattern :)

  • ahhhh, haven't heard this in years, thanks for putting it up, fantastic

  • Now his is real music!!! For the singing smoothly resonates with beauty & subdued passion, so much so that this whole song is borderline atmospheric! Also, all that combined with this sparkling touch of 80's instrumentals---along with this steady, feel good beat---serve to greatly enhance the overall sound, bringing this super cool song to this more sublime, dreamy & euphoric level! Sweetly evocative indeed!!! GREAT music, as it's enchanting, soothingly contemplative & quintessentially 80's!

  • 懐かしい1

  • The 80's were about LOVE!

  • 80's music i think is the best. im 17 and wish i live in this times...........

  • Alanah Currie now lives in London and runs an upholstery firm under the name of Miss Pokeno. (Google that) She specializes in sewing dead animals into furniture as "art". Before that she was in New Zealand campaigning against genetically engineered food. She recently answered when asked about a TT reunion "I'd rather vomit on my boots". Somebody is not happy!

  • Alanah Currie now lives in London and runs an upholstery firm under the name of Miss Potenka. *Google that) She specializes in sewing dead animals into furniture as "art". Before that she was in New Zealand campaigning against genetically engineered food. She recently answered when asked about a TT reunion "I'd rather vomit on my boots". Somebody is not happy!

  • Alannah Currie was, and will always be, a goddess among goddesses.

  • I just love this band. For some reason, when I listen them,I just feel chirpy. They make me happy.

  • @NicolaWriter I also like this band. Nowadays they don't make music like this. Music of the 80's was great.

  • who the fuck is justin beiber, sounds like some little tosser. this is what you call music, real class that little tossers cant even begin to understand.

  • Molly Ringwald on the piano!

  • I wonder why the African-Britainian of the band left. That is something I would like someone to explain to me. Nice tune, though.

  • @kja427 he left for personal reasons, mostly because of the thompson twins management at the time.

  • take me bak to days of better this vid, tanx for sharing..96756 we b lisenin
