I still love this song as much as the first time I heard it so long ago! Somethings never change for me. I still love the 80's music. The music that is big today really is very BAD and there is no real musicianship anymore!!
Someone else has prolly pointed this out within the 567 comments, heh... But, while I understand that this is a music video and thus doesn't necessarily need to make sense (I love the Thompson Twins, btw, ever since the 80's!) but why on EARTH are there violin and cello players??? There are no violins or cellos heard on the soundtrack! LOL XD
Born in '81 I heard tons of 80s music as a kid back then (or at least during the 90s) and loved Hold Me Now, but that was all I knew from these guys for years. I heard this a few months ago and love it so much it feels like I grew up with it.
Old music is so catchy and grows on you really fast, as opposed to modern autotune shit, or most rap.
god do i miss the 80's so much.I also listen to everything from VH ,OZZY,WASP,RONNIE JAMES DIO,ASIA AND GTR AND SO ON AND ONE.i ALSO LOVE MUSIC LIKE THIS AND MUSIC LIKE THIS WILL NEVER BE REPLACE .This song brings back a lot of great memories for me they played this great tune at all my school dancers god it was awsome and Jesus were does the time go .When i was 18 i said to my self that it will take a long time for me to be 40 and i passed 40 years 5 years ago god i am getting old lolololo
And to Alannah you surprised us not knowing your from gold coast till your sister call the radio station to wish you a happy birthday on air, you were in the U.S. then, hair salon, she tip you on good ideas to try and it looks great on you.
god do i miss this era and some many great memories of MTV and the great 10 years of music period todays Music sounds like rap thats why it sounds like crap. The awsome 80's and this band had some awsome tunes
Nope, ..... well, i should have explained better, i guess .... technically, you are correct, but i did not mean the whole audience, but One "shot" centered on the "Cindy Lauper-lookalike", another centered on the white-facepaint-man(he's probably supposed to look like Screaming Lord Byron, a David Bowie-character), and so on.
It might have been a version released for the european audience, since i live in Sweden ...
I would listen to the radio for hours on end to hear these good songs....as they came out. TT was one of my favorites because of the feeling in the music that I had identified with....and still do!!!!!
I used to love Thomson Twins back in the day. I remember their lyrics were a half step above the typical pop on the radio. This was around Grade 8 ish . I recall stations putting their stuff in heavy rotation
from what I last heard about them, they live in New Zealand, Earth nuts...but happy as all get out! That's all that matters! There's a little bit a squirrel in everybody....some more than others...hmmm!
HI, Sorry to hear you may have missed out on much of the 80's for being born late :) I am glad you can make up for lost time to see these videos online :) It is a great way to relive the past.
I must have seen this video at least 200 times since it was first released, and I *just* noticed this ... Molly Ringwald on piano? My god, that lady looks just like her!
@LaraHayes1986 Molly was never the best looking girl on the block, but she was never as ugly as the girl on the piano,go out and buy glasses right away:-)
I'm so sorry, but no one from THIS decade we're in can do epic pop like this. The melodies are rich, the vocals fey yet soulful, the rhythms insistent, and the hooks are simply joyful!
What sucks is that we will NEVER, EVER see a decade this musically rich again.
Saw Thompson Twins at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in 1983. It was a 3 band show with them first, followed by U2, followed by the English Beat as headliners. Terrific show all around.
This is a truly inspired song. Some of the 80's music was the best I've ever heard. If you like this sound like I do, you might want to check out what some of my other favorites are: In a Big Country (by the same name), Heartland (The The), Shake the Disease (Depeche Mode), It's My Life (Talk Talk), Change (Tears for Fears), West End Girls (Pet Shop Boys), Wouldn't It Be Good (Nik Kershaw), All Come True (World Party), Welcome to the Boomtown (David and David). Check them out and enjoy.
@MrChiffy Yes, is excellent, thanks. It's been so long I had forgotten that song, as I have probably a few others I really liked. Man, 25 years or so. Life is slow when you're going threw it, but passed as a moment once you've lived it. I would have no trouble living the rest of my life in the 80's!!!
