put that Megadeth album on again and listen to it over and over. Do you hear his technique ? Of course not. Just goes to show there's no right way or wrong way. And I'm pretty sure he's not changing his style any time soon. Being that he's a MULTI PLATINUM recording artist.

Martys solo picking sure is odd. When he plays rhythm its fine. Pauls solo and rhythm picking is the same hand shape. Much more efficient to be sure. Im sure its something Marty has thought about changing but it would be a difficult task for him. Hard to break old habits when it comes to playing but just imagine if he did? He would be even more of a monster guitar player. Having said all that his picking style sure hasnt held him back one bit! :)

while marty is a great player, I really think he can only help himself by fixing his picking hand. There's lots of noise interference from the other strings since his hand is below the strings and hence not muting redundant noise. Which is why PG sounds so much cleaner lol.

Every misplacement of the fingers causes a little guitar noise, but it's only an issue when he is improvising.

I dont think there are guitarists in the world that is so completely different than these two guys. But you can see something in this clip that is very sad: Marty doesnt "shine" anymore, and i know why. When he played along Beckers side, Marty was completely happy, but when Jason got sick and couldnt play, Marty seem to have lost something precious and very dear to him. He doesnt smile in the same way. Paul never had that kind of musical relations in Dr.Big and doesnt seem to notice. Very sad:-(
