that is a narrow perspective and most of it is based on biblical hysteria.
in gfact we find its quite the opposite. if dad was a drunk then the kid turns into an avid non-alchololic. if mom divorces then the daughter turns into a committed mother and wife.
the next generation never repeats the same mistakes, its just natural. the "sins of the father" is old testament and we just dont have any room for those narrow ideas in our post enlightenment world.
well actually, that's really not true. i'm not arguing for genetic surveillance which is a very scary idea, but if dad was an alcoholic then the likelihood of his son being one is rather high. many people have a genetic disposition of alcohol dependancy. and in terms of divorce, it seems more likely that a girl will marry a man similar to her father rather than different and therefore run into the same problems that her mother did. there are no absolutes but you sound like a wishful thinker.
that is not my real life experience with people. ive heard the story over and over again.. "my dad drank and ignored us and i know how that made me feel.." in fact both of my parents were alcoholics and i have never touched the stuff, so its not a science if it works "sometimes"
yes i agree with that entirely... its like if they say... dont worry we will only do genetic survillence on only 17% of black people... b ut actually do 67% which would be REALLY scary because you cant do nothing about it once thye got you on surveillence...

You could not possibly be more wrong. Genetics dictate no part of volition. To date there are zero studies that support your position.
Alcoholism is an act of volition.
