people feed her the raw diet because of their own opinion and i just don't want to put that on them, so i'm wondering if it is okay to still keep her on a higher grade kibble and do raw? i have read that it is hard to do both because if fed a certain way (like together, which i wouldnt do most likely) that the meat would start to rot inside of her?? any advice as this would be the first time i've ever fed a dog raw foods. thanks for your time and nice video!
@musicfreak6730 Feeding raw with ANY kibble is good! I started Deku by mixing some raw meat in with his kibble to transition him into it. Every so often, I will throw in a small handful of higher grade kibbles, such as Orijen in tosave a bit of money and resources.
"Meat rotting inside her" that is completely silly and I don't know where you heard that, but it's completely untrue.
Try mixing in a little raw food with her f=kibble to start with. :3 Nothing wrong with that!
how did you transition your dog to the raw diet? i have read about the fast and slow switching. You may have said it in the video and i just missed it, (it's loud cause my siblings are running around.), but i'm a college student wanting to do what i can for my allergy stricken dog on a tight budget. and do you feed kibble occassionally or? I live with my grandparents who travel a bit and we go camping for a week or so at a time or she is a another family member and im not wanting to make other
@dabul2003 raw meat is all they ate for thousands and thousands of years... that's what they are built for ... they are carnivores ... and we've only been feeding them this processed kibble crap for a couple generations, and the cancer rate is way up as a result.
@dabul2003 Maybe, but I've never been able to find any at stores around me. Specialty dog and cat shops usually have a lot of raw food for sale since they specialize in holistic, healthy things like that. The chicken necks I buy are from the brand PRIMAL. You can also get them from Bravo. But you have to bulk order them. (A hell of a lot cheaper, but I don't have the freezer space!)
@Nestly52 I feed my dogs Raw Food! Raw meats and vegetables, with cooked brown rice. They will have more energy and no plaque on there teeth, and no health problems. Think about it, would you ever see a wolf in the wild eating burger king or food out of bags and packages? Dairy and Gluten is very bad for dogs and Humans!!
i have thr3ee small dogs ranging from 8 to 15 pounds and i was thinking of this but my parents refuse to let me feed them raw foods. lol so is the chicken bones easy to eat? they wont splinter and choke the dog?
NEVER feed your dog meat that is for humans! It has been prepared to be cooked, which kills many bacteria that can be harmful to dogs. This is why you should only feed your dog RAW meat that is especially made for DOGS.
@Angieblah It;s true you have to be careful about what meat you get, but dogs have a lot stronger tolerance for raw meats and bacterias and stuff. Plus, raw diet packaged for dogs is a hell of a lot more money and typically STILL contain by-products at times.
Getting my dog to eat raw meat is not a problem. Getting him to eat the other stuff like vegetables, yogurt, etc. is futile. He just eats around all that and goes straight for the meat. And now that I have opened pandora's box, I am having trouble to get him to eat the other stuff that he (supposedly) needs no matter how I prepare it.
@qixote Every dog is different. Deku only doesn't like sour/tart stuff. He'll eat anything else. True, he'll go for the juicy meat first, but everything in his bowl will get devoured in two minutes either way.
You can also get a deal with local meat co-ops or butchers to give you scraps, whole animal carcasses, Cheap cause you buy in bulk. Probably need to upgrade to a larger freezer, but it will pay itself off eventually :P
@arniebarb123 Most likely. Deku still eats any kind of kibble he can find around other people's houses. It really just depends on your dog's personality and if you 'free feed' them or not. A dog is less likely to be interested in food if they have it available to them all the time.
@onetwofourten You're thinking of cooked chicken bones and such. If they've been cooked, they can splinter and be very painful to swallow/crap out. Raw bones are perfectly fine though. :3 Good for cleaning teeth. Just make sure to supervise the first time to make sure your dog isn't swallowing whole pieces at a time.
@onetwofourten Thats what i heard too! BUT, someone gave me a different point of view. Wovles ate whatever they hunted down without the help of humans taking bones out. SO, it just makes sense to know that they ate bones too, YET, im still tooo scared to give bones to my dog, LOL!
@onetwofourten Only if they're cooked. If they're cooked they can splinter and get stuck inside and be hard to poo out. raw bones are great for dogs though, they help for flossing teeth. :3 Just make sure you get the right kind! Every dog is different!
@PikachuWolfFox4 No, chocolate is horrible for dogs. Can kill them with the right amount. Everyone knows that. (And if you don't, you should not be allowed to own an animal.)

Actually, even with big dogs it's relatively cheap. The cost of a raw meat diet is about the same as...or cheaper than...grocery store kibble.
