You haven't lived till you have seen him cover your back in a fight situationj. He is truly remarkable. I am truly blessed to call him my friend of about 25 years.
trying to disarm a guy holding a gun to your face is stupid, he'll be panicking as much as you are. sudden movements will startle a jumpy trigger finger. my wallet is not worth a brain scrambling. not a lot of practical use unless you're going to get executed anyway
@Telltolin I can see where you are coming from. Most people that want to kill you don't ask...they just do it. I look at it from a different perspective. The gun is used as intimidation, just like a knife. to give the confidence to the attacker because they feel they are more powerful than you are at that moment. weather you agree with what he is doing or not, his actions are done pretty damn good.
@TASolutions i don't question his ability, i only question the efficacy of said ability, in any such situation where there's a bullet a few inches from your face and willing to fire and make a pretty picture on the wall
@Telltolin gotta do something or nothing right? There is a right and a wrong way to do things. If the finger is on the trigger, yeah, easy to have even an accident reaction to pull the trigger. If the bullet misses by a mile or an inch...its still a miss, you just might have some ear problems for a while. We practice this stuff with airsoft guns. shooting those plastic bb's. It hurts but..oh well ;). Gives people a more realistic way of how to do their technique.
Badass and really great. However, I think in some of the instances its really better to move your body while disarming. Instead of disarming while still facing the barrel. Even in the beginning when he was going for the gun, any attacker would see that telegraphed movement and either step back, or shoot you. Over all though, very badass.
Good, solid disarming techniques! Done with intensity. I would have to agree with the earlier comment. I would change making a habit of returning the weapon. Most systems toss the weapon on the mat when the technique is over, as away to return the weapon for the next technique.
That too is a bad practice to do. By doing so, someone else may pick up the weapon from the ground and use it on you. This was only demonstrations that I did showing how easy it was to disarm someone. In real practice I hold onto the weapon and never give it back until the next technique. Once you gain control you maintain that control.
Meaning you have secured the weapon and neutralized the attacker. At some point you have to allow your training partner a chance to practice. At this point the weapon is dropped on the mat. I understand it was a demo. I saw the same thing the other guy did, it started to look like a reflex. All practice should be treated as "real". You should know, under stress reflexes kick in. Still think they were great techniques. Peace.
Thank you sir and your video shows some great techniques also. You are correct in saying all practice should be treated as real. What you practice in the Dojo you should be ready for any real situation on the street. Thanks again'''
he has used it in real life, im in the video, im the guy wit the white sleevless, he trains cops in New Jersey, he ha used alot of this stuff in real situations
Sounds like you know what your talking about do you have a video or something so we can see it here on the tube? I would love to see it. Again take a class with him and he'll show you how fast and how he moves. And we do practice with pellet guns that shoot plastic pellets. There is no time that you can shoot the gun and if you do, it's firing at you and hitting you. So lets see some of your material so we can take a close look.
Look again closely he's moving as he takes the weapon out of his hand. The weapon is being placed back at the attacker in case the weapon goes off. Take a class with the man before you say it's silly and he will show you how he moves out of the way. Trust me I know.
No problem.. I'm new to my aikido/jujitsu class, but I love it. I'm just having trouble getting use to transitioning my hands in the takedowns and such. But I'll get there.
I have been training Aikido in sweden for about 1 year now. I think your speed and technque is awesome :) It would be cool to have a instructor like you.
Thanks for that comment and it would be an honor to train you if you were close to the area. There are other Martial Art Instructors out there that are great and put alot of their time into the art. I'm sure you can find one close to you that is better than me.
Remember that there is always someone better out there that you can learn from. I learn each and everday by training and teaching and meeting other instructors and share ideas and techniques. Thanks again
I would like to thank you for putting these weapon disarming technques on you tube, i mean i can't tell you how many ads i have seen whenever it would be in black belt magazine or on the internet on weapon disarming and thats fine, but for me i don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on dvd's and its also hard to find an instuctor that teaches weapon disarming i mean if you ask some martial arts instuctor about the subject they would look at like your crazy and thats what i appreciate thanks.
Thank you for the nice comment. Disarming Tactics is an art in itself and comes from many art forms. We try to practice what may occur in the street so you can have some kind of advantage over the attacker. There are many techniques and these are just a few that we have posted. Good luck in finding an instructor in this field I'm sure there is someone out there near you. Thanks again
Your Aikido style is strikingly similar to the Yoshinkan Aikido which the late Gozo Shioda founded: it's fast, hard, and effective. Thanks for this video.
Aikido is one of the most underated martial arts for self defense, i mean krav maga is simple direct and to the point for self defense but one should never underestimate the flow of aikido in disarming a weapon and well shoot i wish i had the money to take your style of aikido instead of looking at clips on you tube, great job!
Yes Aikido is an amazing art and Krav Maga is also a great art. Imagine mixing the two arts together to make an even more effective art. Something to think about. Thanks for your interest and comment
rank isnt everything, there are meny bad martial artist out there with rank, its about the students. the only problem is the techniques are more about flash then application especially with having limited training time, cut out the flash and add substance. before u say i dont know what im talking about ive been training for over 26 yrs, and again its only my opinion. good luck with your training.
Yes your right rank isn't everything it's what you have learned. A belt only holds up your pants. Like I said before this is a demo tape not a training tape and if you live in New Jersey, let us know if you would like to come to a training seminar and then you'll feel how the techniques work and I'm sure you'll fine the substance that you stated in your comment.
As for your training experience, I have been training for 42 years in (3) different arts and I have "RANK in all (3). I teach and train Police Recruits in Defensive Tactics and Tactical Handcuffing at (3) Police Academy's for the past 20 years.
All the disarms are really cool especially with stick and knife. The gun though is not realistic no-one will ever have the gun that close that you can reach it within a few steps. The gun is a long-distance weapon... duh..
Yes you are correct the gun is a long distance weapon but, if your in close quarters and on a bus, train, or in a hostage situation these techniques are designed to
understood, point well taken. And it is also true that you would never expect to run into someone who knows how to hold the gun when in a close-range scenario, that is, right next to the hip on the backleg pointed at the opponent such that he cannot perform such a disarm without getting shot.
There are techniques for a person who holds the gun close to his body next to the hip. Also when a person has a gun in their coat pocket close to their body. We practice as many scenario's as possible. You disarm when the person makes a mistake in your favor.
You are an idiot, this guy will reign terror over you. I went to one of his seminars, and believe me, he is deadly. Besides, what he teaches is Combat Aikido, not the traditional Japanese Aikido.
What is so sad "POOP" that a white guy is teaching Japanese techniques. I thank my Japanese Instructors for the hard training that they gave me. They also trust me to teach the techniques and that's how I got my rank. So what is so sad about that "POOP"
what if the person is strong and holding the weapon with much more strenght than a demo person will u still be able to take the weapon away?
