  • Great indicator. Thank you for the post.

It's not clear to me when u make a portable slinky indicator, the indicator is between the fly line and the leader --- yes? If so, the indicator is not on the water surface, but near your pole tip. Or do you make a long portable indicator, with a lot of monofilament w/o the tubing to attach to the fly line, and the other end to the leader?

I am definitely adding this to my arsenal. It's always good to learn something new and innovative!

  • I like how the indicator can be slid up or down the leader for different depths. Never been happy with using a 'fixed' indicator. Thank you for posting this.

  • When I first found out about this method I used braided loop for my indicator with a team of micro nymphs on the business end. The success was immediate, often a fish per cast. It was ridiculous. If you are a competition fisher, I think the method you mention is illegal however the method I mentioned is legal as the 'indicator' forms part of the actual cast i.e. the indicator takes the strain of the fish and helps with presentation. (I may be mistaken re. the rules on that)

  • Much appreciated- wil add this indicator to my arsenal of others I know of. Would welcome a little guidance on the prefferred makes of mono for the French Leader mainline. I am led to beleive from elsewhere that stiffer mono is preferrable but my knowledge of the characteristics of mono makes is not great.

    Thanks again

  • Good Day Sir. So here we are one yr.later, therefor I wish you a Merry Christmas and blessed and happy new year. This is what I've been looking for. Is it a Czech design? Thank you for posting it. I see where over 10,000 have visited and only one had the courtesy to admire or reject it in spite of the fact, It makes so much sense. Now to find that stuf. Tom.

  • Thanks bdean95

It's very much a good starting point for anyone. The focus being to make the indicator very visible. Once happy with the concept, you can develop it by introducing tapers at given points, perhaps for light nymphing situations, or, varying the diameters of materials in such a way that helps with not only the visible element but the feel, if both of these senses are in play through the technique of fishing this method then I'd like to think success is likely to follow ~ Jim

  • Great info, thanks.
