I'm surprised these guys haven't been pitched-forked out of Texas yet or burnt on at the stake for witchcraft or something (no this isn't an insult to TAE guys).
Hell is for those that want it and for those that dont want heaven. Heaven is Gods will and Gods glory. Hell is mans will and mans glory. Which do u want?
Epicureanism is very similar to the morality we hear preached on this show. There is no such thing as innate morality, there is theology. A man so made that he be naturally disinclined towards inner peace, he loses out to people those who follow the life of Jesus and Epicureanism. He'll need all the luck that falls to him to shake off this nonsense of "love thy fellow man".. "One must still have chaos within oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star."
"morality is about learning how best to get along with your fellow man".... it depends how my fellow man treats me and how he relates to my ambition; no sooner does my fellow man become the obstruction do I have a lot more to think about. It suits the weakest of the species to ponder morality; to dampen man is to be a moralist. "We should shoot at princes before we see them sitting rigidly back on their throne again".
@stimulii. I believe the show isnt fun for the cast anymore. How could it be fun when, time after time and day after day, you hear the same weak minded weak ass proofs of god. I said it before on anothe AE video. It would be like Bill Murray in the movie Groundhogs day. Only difference, the movie was only 2 hrs long.
@stiimuli I understand, but, then it won't be considered by theists as serious arguments.., just unfunded jokes and fun FOR atheists..., and is better if it is aimed to everybody. I think is very important to make the point seriously and in good mood.
@giorgiomx adding humor does not delegitimize an argument or narrow its audience. Do you think only atheists have a sense of humor? Look at Jon Stewart and Colbert. Stewart's extended interviews are often considered more legitimate and ground breaking than interviews on "real" news programs.
Humor is a great vehicle by which to get a message across. Its like the spoon full of sugar =P
@stiimuli yes, as I said I understand, but that doesn't matter if the audience don't see it like you or me, so it could mistakenly be taken as just a channel of mockery and ridiculization of religion that only pleases atheists, the ones "on the fence" and the ones in the closet, but, "offend" theists. Maybe we are talking different kind of humor, I'm referring the self-mockery or buddy-with-theists kind of humor. Yes I prefer any fun way as you, but I just mention the implications.
@giorgiomx who said the humor has to be mockery or ridicule???
this show could use a higher energy, more charismatic and funnier presentation without it ever being offensive.
they just need to loosen up a bit. Matt used to wear funny hats, make jokes and mess around with props. They used to dance to whatever the opening music was.
They just don;t seem like they're enjoying it any more. =(
@sooperfukker It has nothing to do with being an atheist moron, it has to do with being from Austin Texas. Stone Cold Steve Austin is from Austin for example, and what do you know, bald head and face cunt.
@jezmundberserker That question is somewhat offtopic but it's because they chose to do so.
In the past I used to think that people were just misinformed or indoctrinated and could be convinced of some rather simple truths. As a matter of fact, I was wrong.
I had to learn that people can willfully ignore facts for purposes of mental comfort. It's a psychological defense mechanism and religious believers have to defend pretty much the very foundation of their deluded lives.
Use your God given intuition: who shows a higher consciousness level? who kills or who respects life?, who steal or who share? who enslave or who frees? who envy or who love? who is selfish or who is selfless? who is materialistic or who is spiritual?. We are due to move to the next consciousness level by rejecting all materialism and selfishness. Those were Jesus teachings, which atheism reject. God will act, and anyone that refuse to move may be expendable. Open your eyes before is too late.
@Super911truth It's public access in Austin Texas. But you can catch it every sunday on ustream at (I think eithe 2:30 or 3:30 p.m PST if your west coast, and 5:30 or 6:30 East coast.)
At 5:00 Matt is asking about amputees. It seems that only certain kinds of lizards and invertebrates know the right prayers to offer to regenerate lost limbs. Maybe we should be listening to these creatures preach on Sunday.
There are children's Bibles. How the hell does that work? Did they excise the murders, rapes, slaughters, sex, genocides, incest, and God's almost insatiable bloodlust? I mean, seriously, how does this work? If any of you are familiar with these children's bibles, please PM me.
There used to be a comic-book like bible called "The Picture Bible". It only showed gospels from the New Testament as if they were all the same gospel. There might be longer versions, but I'm not familiar with them.
Aliens from outer space and jesus always reveal themselves to the same sort of folk. The gullible misinformed stupid ones. I find this fact intriguing. I have also noted that god has a hankering for the inhabitants of the southern states. I feel research should be done to uncover this mystery.
It's hard to justify what God has done and said in the OT, but that's just it: God does what God does and not what we WANT Him to do... Why would anyone in their right mind think that God would be other than what He is after nearly killing every single human being on the planet during the flood? It doesn't work that way: SIN IS WRONG... WE SIN! Even on Mt Sinai, Moses had to talk God out of killing the Hebrews that just escaped! Why? Because they were worshiping a golden calf-- an IDOL!
@RayTech70 "It's hard to justify what God has done and said in the OT, but that's just it: God does what God does and not what we WANT Him to do..."
So would you agree that it would be reasonable to refer to the Abrahamic god as evil then? Because his actions have nothing to do with human interests? Or perhaps simply amoral? Why would you want to worship something like that?
@Gnomefro No effect ? God killed all but Noah and his family in order to preserve humanity in a state that could produce His visit in human form (Jesus)? I believe that only the male sperm passes the burden of sin upon use. Female eggs are "pure" which is how Jesus could be born without sin. Satan wants humanity to fail God, hoping it would cast doubt on his sentence to death for mutiny against God. God is using us to justify His ruling to banish Lucifer from His kingdom(s). Peace out.
@aggienostic "No effect ? God killed all but Noah and his family in order to preserve humanity in a state that could produce His visit in human form (Jesus)?"
And it was an utter failure. They started hating and killing each other almost immediately after the flood ended. What on earth did that change? Nothing at all. It just caused massive suffering. The drowning of millions children and puppies for a disgusting symbolic act that changed nothing.
@aggienostic "I believe that only the male sperm passes the burden of sin upon use. Female eggs are "pure" which is how Jesus could be born without sin."
So "sin" is an arrangement of matter then? In particular, related to the Y chromosome? Which Jesus also possessed because he was male? Or is it part of other parts of the sperm, so test tube babies can potentially be free of sin if we just transfer DNA? Or did you actually mean to say that you have no idea why you believe what you believe?
So, let me get this straight. Why is "sin" wrong in your mind? Is it because this "god", who doesn't care about humanity at all, thinks so? You know, the one slaughtering Hebrews for worshiping the golden calf and drowning all of humanity.
If so, why would anyone care what he thinks? It would seem that if we believed that he existed we had a moral obligation to not have children so we didn't have to take part in producing more victims for him.
Why won't god heal amputees? Isn't that obvious? They can't get on BOTH of their knees AND clasp BOTH of their hands in prayer at the same time. I'm totally going to that hell place...
When and where did I ever say that "biblical docrtrine" has to do with government?
1) I was referring to the fact that you called the rulers of this country as Luciferians, and that's just ignorant and dumb.
2) I know that the biblical doctrine has nothing to do with government, because we have long held a belief that makes this country great: "the Separation of Church and State."
That's why our system is better than that of ANY theocracies across the world.
WHEN YOU SAY GOD IS ALL LOVE AND MERCY WHERE WAS GOD WHEN THE HOLOCAUST HAD MILLIONS OF CHILDREN TORTURED AND EXPERIMENTED ON HORRIBLY, AND MURDERED BY MENGLE AND OTHERS? WERE THERE NOT ENOUGH OF PRAYER TO SATISFY GOD'S INSATIABLE NEED FOR WORSHIP? WHERE WAS GOD'S MERCY AND HELP THEN?
nephilimfree uses the same story of the she-bears..... he pretty much says... "dont make fun of me for being bald or god will kill you all with some angry bears mmmkkk!!!"
nephilimfree uses the she-bear story to help him with his insecurities with his own baldness. he pretty much repeats the whole scripture. "dont call me bald or god will fucking kill you bears mmmmk!!!!"
The part about preventive genocide reminded me of something--I always thought it was bizarre for the alien in The Day the Earth Stood Still to threaten Earthlings (to paraphrase): "Be peaceful or we'll reduce your planet to a burnt-out cinder."
@village1diot actually saving the universe from a rash, warlike, creatures entering the atomic age was the important thing. Basically, we'd love to welcome you into our family of planets - however if you're going to act like deranged murderous chimps - we'll have to "put you down". (and really it wasn't Klaatu choice, Gort was gonna blow shit up anyway)
Also I just realized they remade this movie - and i've never seen the remake on account it looked like shit.
Something that we Know nothing about? I think most converts to atheism know plently about religion. The bible converts more people to atheism than the god delusion does.
You know what I really don't get about the anti-Christians? They have so many questions unanswered about God, but they totally reject him before even attempting to figure it out. How can you pass any judgment on something you know nothing about? It sucks even more that they are too blinded by pride to see that they've been indoctrinated & deceived into hating God. Doesn't it suck to be lied to, even if you're lying to yourself?
I'm running late for this comment, but what the heck.
Most atheists I know are quite familiar with the Bible, and have been proselytized to all our lives. Matt was intending on entering the ministry when he became an atheist. He's spoken of it several times, and it's probably in his bio on the AE website. I have many unanswered questions about Bigfoot, but since it very likely doesn't exist, they're irrelevant. I don't hate god any more than I hate Santa Claus. That would be dumb.
@tctheunbeliever "Most atheists I know are quite familiar with the Bible" if they understood biblical theology/history, they couldn't really be atheist, they would just have to lie. "Bigfoot" I don't believe a finite universe governed by law suggests that Bigfoot exists & I don't recall his name shaping the history of western civilization; we don't count our days from the birth of Bigfoot & he's not the most controversial name in recorded human history, so relevancy is arbitrary.
You know what I hate about Christians? They have so many questions unanswered about the universe, but they totally reject science before even attempting to figure it out. How can you pass any judgment on something you know nothing about? It sucks even more that they are too blinded by pride to see that they've been indoctrinated & deceived into hating knowledge. Doesn't it suck to be lied to, even if you're lying to yourself?
@tctheunbeliever "totally reject science before even attempting to figure it out" one fact that you ignore is that Christians are raised in the same world as everybody else. We're taught the same sciences in school & universities but when you let the evidence speak for itself, ppl still say a finite universe needs no cause. Talk about abandonment of basic reasoning. btw the scientific method came from Christians. "Hating knowledge." Really? Then why are we commanded to examine everything?
@blattt188 LOL "the scientific method came from Christians"--if Christians use the scientific method, they don't have faith. Try to keep your logic, such as it is, fairly consistent. Obviously they were not true Christians like yourself. You're not gonna convince anybody here of this bullshit, so go find a pulpit.
@blattt188 I'm sure the universe had a cause to ignite it into this state, but why would it have to be a Cosmic Dude? If so then who created the Cosmic Dude? This kind of non-answer is why we need science, so we can move on past yesterdays made up crap. Christians do HATE new ideas, Giordano Bruno, Copernicus, Galileo, Campanella, Rene Descartes, Tycho Brahe, Johannes Kepler, Edmond Halley, Isaac Newton, and Georges Louis Leclerc Comte de Buffon, all had lives ended or ruined by the church.
@blattt188 And that's a very short list. Youtube won't let me post the hundreds of names there really are, of brilliant men and women that suffered under Christian stupidity! "Same sciences", are you kidding me! Kent Hovind was a christian science teacher and the man didn't know shit about anything. Its not like those poor kids he taught had a chance. Stop starting with a idea you try to make the facts fit, then maybe you'll get somewhere.
@blattt188 I've been a Atheist since I first got through my bible 20 years ago. I've never met a indoctrinated Atheist, but I have met indoctrinated Christians. Would you be Christian if you were born in Iran? Religion is something we're mostly born into with very rare exceptions. How is not accepting God about pride? Its about not just following blindly and believing everything the bible says. For example there is no real proof for the flood. Did Noah swim to Australia and collect Kangaroos?
@Raezene "I've never met a indoctrinated Atheist" I'll make this as simple as possible, here's how it works: there is no such thing as a "free thinker" you will inevitably follow somebody's philosophy. Everything you see & hear dictates your way of thinking & it's been that way since your birth. To say there are no indoctrinated atheists is ridiculous; you will listen to God or you'll listen to the world, no neutral. btw I wasn't born into any religion. I was raised to be skeptical & discerning.
@blattt188 Let me make this simple for you, you just said we have no free will. Would I be showing my powers of free will if I chose as you? Here is a good way to identify a freethinker, look for a person that can say "I was wrong", and moves on. If evolution was proven to be false scientifically tomorrow I can admit I was wrong. Can you do that? Probably not! Btw I never said there are no indoctrinated Atheists, just that I haven't met one.
I was just reading the book: "The complete sayings of Jesus" and it's amazing how everything he says is completely contrary to man's way of thinking. No wonder the religious people tried to throw him off the cliff & beat him to death with rocks. He even condemned the self-righteous "religious" elite; the Pharisees & he called them blind hypocrites. Man, Jesus is so not like the world. It's no question as to why he told the disciples that they(Christians) would be hated & mocked by everybody.
OK, so you have to be a member of your religion before you have a prayer (pun intended) of being elected to just about any of the highest offices in the most powerful country in the world, and you're still bitching about persecution? Are you delusional? Shit, I've heard of martyr complexes, but gimme a break.
@tctheunbeliever Wrong. True Christians have no interested in having power & reign in high places of authority. The rulers of this world are Luciferians. The fact that they can call themselves Christian & you believe it shows how ignorant you are.
@blattt188 That's handy. If a Christian leader exterminates millions of people, you can just say he's an atheist, not a reeeeeeel Christian. Your religion is so full of copouts. Take some responsibility for your own actions and quit whining about persecution every time somebody disagrees with you. You're a gullible, dishonest, brainwashed moron.
The rulers of this world are luciferians? Are you serious? You are pathetic. Anyone who can't see that it's the christian doctrine itself that breeds hate and contempt then you are beyond help.
@FrizzKid05 If you think biblical doctrine has anything to do with government, I'll assume either u have no clue what doctrine says or you're slightly retarded.
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come: For men shall be lovers of their own SELVES; covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, UNTHANKFUL, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, DESPISERS OF THOSE THAT ARE GOOD, Traitors, heady, HIGH-MINDED, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."=Look around!
Yes, when truth is absent, all you have left is arrogance & mockery. I don't believe in Santa Clause, but I'll be damned if I waste my time trying to refute his existence. But it always works the same way: laugh now, cry later.
"Let he that thinks he stands take heed: lest he fall."
@blattt188 I mock the bold assertion that "God did it" is the answer to everything. And while we're at it, why DON'T you believe in Santa, or Thor, Odin, Zeus, Allah, Shiva, Ra, Anubis, Horus, Amaterasu, Mithra, etc. etc. What proof do you have that THEY don't exist, or more importantly can you provide proof that they do? Can you do the same for your god? Prove that the assertion that they are real is any more valid or invalid than the christian god.
@GermanChocolateCake "I mock the bold assertion that "God did it" is the answer to everything" If God began all time & dimension as a system to fulfill his own purpose why mock the assertion that he did everything?
Next, is their any known scripture of those idols written over thousands of years that fits together perfectly as if written by one person, that is scientifically, prophetically, morally, historically & reasonably compliant with the way things really are? Do they even make any sense?
When I was at the University of Illinois from 1978-1981, there was a wonderful holiday on the next-to-last Wednesday of April called Hash Wednesday. Yes, a few thousand students celebrating spring by getting high together in public. Two of us from work were going to take the afternoon off to attend. Two others, both jesus freaks, got up real early and prayed together for rain. The event was rained out. THEY both were very proud of themselves and felt they had performed a miniature miracle.
@GermanChocolateCake I agree. That's why I'm not afraid of reality like most people are so I don't lie to myself by pretending that I was some universal mistake therefore what I do doesn't really matter & I never have to worry about ultimate consequence. I know I'm not a god & I know I made nothing so by that, I can't be conditioned to pride. I deny the "fairytale" that man's corrupt carnal reasoning, that always leads him to self destruction holds any matter against the revelation of God.
@blattt188 Do believe in Jesus, God, the Holy Ghost? If you do, you are believing a fairy tale, a myth, an ancient legend. Man's reasoning isn't inherently corrupt or carnal as you put it, that's merely another myth propagated by religion to attempt to validate its own legitimacy and falsely shame people into following. Your belief in fables is anything but a clear grasp of reality. You cling to a false hope in lieu of reality. Religion is just highly codified wishful thinking.
@GermanChocolateCake Congrats, you have it completely backwards. "Man's reasoning isn't inherently corrupt" ? Sometimes i wonder if I'm living on the same planet as the people I debate. To say man isn't corrupt is even more ridiculous than to say the universe is a random accident. "Religion" is a means of control. Kind of like how they prey on our desires & tempt us with all kinds of self-destructive evils from an early age so we grow up to hate a God who calls our error out 4 what it really is.
@GermanChocolateCake I mean seriously, even my brother, who is a total God-hater admits that the spread of Christianity is a good thing. My ENTIRE family is godless, selfish, wicked, & depraved, but damned if I should care about innocent children, right? ...damned.
@blattt188 I would posit that while the spread of christianity can in some instances be a positive influence, it can just as often be a horribly destructive influence (as the Spanish about that one). As for your experiences with your family, your using your own misfortune to paint an entire subsection of humanity as being the same. That's one step away from the same ignorance that fuels racism, sexism, and all forms of bigotry. Atheists exist that break, even shatter, your mold for them.
@blattt188 Furthermore, there are plenty of atheists that care deeply about the innocent and needy. If you believe otherwise, you're not only deluding yourself about religion, but also about human nature and plain fact. One does not need religion to have empathy and compassion. I for instance have lost count of the times I've given money to beggars or helped injured animals I've encountered, yet by your standards it's impossible for me to have the compassion needed to do so.
@blattt188 I do however, commend you on caring about children. I just think it is unfortunate that you seem to think you need religion to inspire the empathy in you. Simple fact is you already HAVE that potential in you, just like you have the potential for cruelty. It's simply your choice about which to act on. I'm personally glad you choose to act on compassion, but sad you think you need a god in your life to make that choice, you're giving yourself too little credit.
@GermanChocolateCake So if you're taught that pride is virtuous, humility must be degrading. If self-exaltation is a good thing, self sacrifice will be considered insane. If materials are your god, you will hate the God who created. If you were some random universal accident & nothing do really matters, righteousness is the only evil. Your innate sense of eternity(something that doesn't even exist in this reality) is delusion & love is illusion. The solar 'system' is a byproduct of blind luck...
@blattt188 There is absolutely no foundation for the black and white, one or another viewpoint you just described. I can ell you, for a fact, that human value judgments cover a far wider grey area than what you just proposed. You're making false equivalencies.
For instance, I believe in "self-exaltation" through believing in yourself and working to improve yourself, but that wouldn't stop my from risking my life to save another persons life, since I consider life valuable beyond even my own.
@GermanChocolateCake You don't believe in objective truth? If I my name is jeff & you call me steve, he calls me john & she calls me george, am I not still jeff? It's the same on every scale: Without truth, there is only error, just like without light there is only darkness, without something, there is nothing, without right there is wrong..God/Satan, positive/negative...you get the point. Just because we have the ability to reason, doesn't actually change what is outside of ourselves.
@blattt188 Furthermore, materials are not my god since I don't believe in gods. Material life is necessary to live, and some of said materials can be quite fun. If anything, I am thankful to the human minds intelligent and clever enough to invent and create so many of the things that make up "material (worldly as you might think of it) life. Toasters and microwaves, for instance are pretty handy, so are heating and cooling. Sliced bread even makes the list, and running water is extremely useful.
@GermanChocolateCake I agree, materials are useful. If you are thankful to the creator of them: the human mind, why are you not thankful to the creator of the human mind: nature? Then you would have to be thankful to the creator of nature. If you keep tracing it back, you can only end at whatever force there was that ordained natural law to make the intricate systems that made our solar system, that made us, that made things...etc. Then the only question is the nature of the creative force.
@blattt188 And still more, righteousness is not inherently evil just because I don't ascribe the adjective to pretty much anything. Righteousness, like most human mental constructs is only as evil as it is used. In a "cosmic" sense, nothing I do really matters to the universe, it'll keep on trucking long after me. What I do does matter to the people in my life and around me, so that contributes to it mattering to me. My own opinions and feelings contribute to what I do as well. So does law.
@GermanChocolateCake "righteousness is not inherently evil" Of course not: righteousness is the exact opposite of evil. Well, if you're looking from a carnal perspective, you are absolutely right: we are just like the other animals; survival of the fittest & selfishness would have to be the virtue. Then why do we naturally care so much about others around us? How can anyone believe that love is illusion? What you do has great implications in eternity: the reality that the creator is of.
@blattt188 My "innate sense of eternity" does not spring from some supernatural force or programming, it springs from my observation that I have yet to see time stop or end (would I even notice time stopping?), therefore I must conclude that time keeps on going. it seems to be an easily observable constant.
Love is an illusion only in that it is an intangible emotion experienced by living minds. In subjective terms, it is very real to me, in my mind, just as it is to anyone else who feels it.
@GermanChocolateCake You know clearly that this universe is finite. You know it had a beginning & it will have an end. Based on observation, you see that everything around you does eventually come to an end. Everything in the universe tends to disorder & eventually death: even light particles will annihilate. How then can we conceive of infinity if we are not eternal or if not for an eternal source?
@blattt188 "even light particles will annihilate" The conservation of energy Law first stated by Julius Robert Mayer in 1842 teaches that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It only changes its form. This principle is implicit in Newton’s laws, though not actually stated by him.
I've already mentioned how easy it is to conclude that time continues potentially infinitely based on the simple fact of its not having observably ended.
@GermanChocolateCake "I've already mentioned how easy it is to conclude that time continues potentially infinitely based on the simple fact of its not having observably ended"=crap. Conception of eternity would work if eternity actually existed, but now that we know it doesn't, that conception must be outside of the observable reality. Otherwise, it wouldn't matter what you observe here, you would naturally conceive that time must end somewhere weather you will see it or not.
@blattt188 So really, do you have any other straw-men you'd like to pull out of the closet? The human experience exists in shades of grey, whether you like it or not.
For every urge, a satisfaction must exist in this reality; If I'm thirsty, water must exist. If I'm hungry, there is such a thing as food. If I'm tired, I can sleep. If I'm sad, I can cry. If I'm bored, there is always some form of entertainment. If my longing for eternity can not be fulfilled in this life, the only plausible conclusion: I was not made for this world.
I hope you can refute this reasonably, because I can't.
@blattt188 "If I'm thirsty, water must exist. If I'm hungry, there is such a thing as food. If I'm tired, I can sleep." These needs and their related satisfactions can be explained by evolution with greater evidence than the assertion that "God made it that way". The emotions you mentioned, while perhaps more complex, have a growing body of scientific explanations as well. Your longing for eternity is merely your animal instinct for self-preservation for as long as possible.
@GermanChocolateCake "Your longing for eternity is merely your animal instinct for self-preservation for as long as possible"=crap. What does a longing for eternity ever have to do with any kind of naturalistic instinct? You don't see apes trying to mummify their dead. The animal instinct is to live as long as possible....until you die. That's carnal man's thinking just as carnal man is limited to a mere animal. You are being plain ridiculous now.
@GermanChocolateCake Even if the Bible was totally false, what would compel you to even think twice about destroying the good faith of those "naive, brainwashed" people? You see the decay of morals & innocent children suffering all around you because the restraining Grace of God is taken off of man as we continue to suppress the Truth in unrighteousness, so man becomes lawless & wicked. Even if I was agnostic, I could never advocate something as vile as the "do what you want" atheist world view.
@blattt188 And that's where you betray your ignorance and prejudice. You paint a broad brush of all atheists being anarchists or nihilists, when we simply aren't. I for one consider rape, murder, abuse, torture, theft, and false imprisonment to be horribly wrong. The only thing that has ever restrained man from its crueler instincts and behaviors is man. We've never needed (nor actually had) a supernatural influence to adjudicate our behavior to us, we've managed to do that all on our own.
@GermanChocolateCake "You paint a broad brush of all atheists being anarchists or nihilists" Do I? Don't you believe that man should trust his own fallen corrupt reasoning, even after all the bloody history we've observed?
Here's how it works: Man always says the same thing, God always says the complete opposite. Man is corrupt, God is Holy & that's where it is.
Like I always say: "If logic alone could be trusted, there would be no wars."
-"we've managed to do that all on our own" =Lolz!!!!!
@blattt188 And there you again paint a broad brush and a total fabrication of baseless guilt by stating that man is inherently corrupt. The ONLY thing putting that notion into your head is your religion, that by its very mechanisms REQUIRES you to have that artificial shame. The only judge of man's instincts, both good and ill, is man. Have we had a bloody history? Indeed we have, we are still a developing species, and not all of us are going to follow the moral guidelines some of us create.
@GermanChocolateCake "The ONLY thing putting that notion into your head is your religion" Oh, I always thought it was living on Earth that made me see the fallen corruption of man. Maybe I've been in some virtual reality all this time & man is really good.
Here it is: man does evil by choice; man is wicked & man is corrupt. The fact that man is too self-righteous to admit that he has done evil makes it even more evident. You can lie to me & you can lie to yourself, but you CAN NOT lie to God.
@blattt188 You fail to see how religion has indoctrinated you into the idea that mankind is inherently corrupt by default. Furthermore, there are serial killers who readily admit that what they've done, and would continue to do if they could, is evil, so your assertion that man can't admit it is baseless. I know I've done evil in my life, and I'm not proud of myself about it. In fact I try not to make those same mistakes again, I try to learn from them.
@blattt188 "Man always says the same thing, God always says the complete opposite." Perhaps; here's an example: Genesis 17:12-13 - god mandates circumcision for slaves (and does not bother to make slave owning a sin, in fact he even encourages salvery - Genesis 16:8-9, Colossians 3:22, Ephesians 6:5). I am indifferent to circumcision, but deeply opposed to slavery.
@blattt188 Another example: god specifically orders the rape of king David's wives: 2 Samuel 12:11-12. I for one think rape under any circumstances is disgusting and evil, so yeah, I've got to disagree with your god once again. Did I mention the uncounted times your god called for animal and human sacrifices? I have the scriptures to prove that too, and I find the entire idea of blood/burnt sacrifices for any reason and to any god to be barbaric and disgusting, so once again I disagree with him.
No one.... No one believes in the bible. They only believe in the parts they want too.

Only difference, the movie was only 2 hrs long.

stiimuli 2 months ago 2
@stiimuli I understand, but, then it won't be considered by theists as serious arguments.., just unfunded jokes and fun FOR atheists..., and is better if it is aimed to everybody. I think is very important to make the point seriously and in good mood.
giorgiomx 1 month ago
@giorgiomx adding humor does not delegitimize an argument or narrow its audience. Do you think only atheists have a sense of humor? Look at Jon Stewart and Colbert. Stewart's extended interviews are often considered more legitimate and ground breaking than interviews on "real" news programs.
Humor is a great vehicle by which to get a message across. Its like the spoon full of sugar =P
stiimuli 1 month ago
@stiimuli yes, as I said I understand, but that doesn't matter if the audience don't see it like you or me, so it could mistakenly be taken as just a channel of mockery and ridiculization of religion that only pleases atheists, the ones "on the fence" and the ones in the closet, but, "offend" theists. Maybe we are talking different kind of humor, I'm referring the self-mockery or buddy-with-theists kind of humor. Yes I prefer any fun way as you, but I just mention the implications.
giorgiomx 1 month ago
@giorgiomx who said the humor has to be mockery or ridicule???
this show could use a higher energy, more charismatic and funnier presentation without it ever being offensive.
they just need to loosen up a bit. Matt used to wear funny hats, make jokes and mess around with props. They used to dance to whatever the opening music was.
They just don;t seem like they're enjoying it any more. =(

sooperfukker 4 months ago
@sooperfukker It has nothing to do with being an atheist moron, it has to do with being from Austin Texas. Stone Cold Steve Austin is from Austin for example, and what do you know, bald head and face cunt.

@sooperfukker: Why do al religious nutjobs keep believing in fairy tales and imaginary friends?
jezmundberserker 2 months ago

RayTech70 10 months ago
@RayTech70 "It's hard to justify what God has done and said in the OT, but that's just it: God does what God does and not what we WANT Him to do..."
So would you agree that it would be reasonable to refer to the Abrahamic god as evil then? Because his actions have nothing to do with human interests? Or perhaps simply amoral? Why would you want to worship something like that?
Gnomefro 10 months ago
@Gnomefro No effect ? God killed all but Noah and his family in order to preserve humanity in a state that could produce His visit in human form (Jesus)? I believe that only the male sperm passes the burden of sin upon use. Female eggs are "pure" which is how Jesus could be born without sin. Satan wants humanity to fail God, hoping it would cast doubt on his sentence to death for mutiny against God. God is using us to justify His ruling to banish Lucifer from His kingdom(s). Peace out.
aggienostic 10 months ago
@aggienostic "No effect ? God killed all but Noah and his family in order to preserve humanity in a state that could produce His visit in human form (Jesus)?"
And it was an utter failure. They started hating and killing each other almost immediately after the flood ended. What on earth did that change? Nothing at all. It just caused massive suffering. The drowning of millions children and puppies for a disgusting symbolic act that changed nothing.
Gnomefro 9 months ago
@aggienostic "I believe that only the male sperm passes the burden of sin upon use. Female eggs are "pure" which is how Jesus could be born without sin."
So "sin" is an arrangement of matter then? In particular, related to the Y chromosome? Which Jesus also possessed because he was male? Or is it part of other parts of the sperm, so test tube babies can potentially be free of sin if we just transfer DNA? Or did you actually mean to say that you have no idea why you believe what you believe?
Gnomefro 9 months ago
@RayTech70 "SIN IS WRONG... WE SIN!"
It would seem that if we believed that he existed we had a moral obligation to not have children so we didn't have to take part in producing more victims for him.

tctheunbeliever 1 year ago 4
@tctheunbeliever Hmmm... Saving the planet was the important thing, so I don't think he said "...we'll reduce your planet to a burnt-out cinder"
Maybe he said "species" instead of "planet"? I don't recall. Not that it even matters, I get your point.
village1diot 1 year ago 2
@village1diot
I was curious, so I googled it (I'm too lazy to do much research):
Klaatu: "If you bring your nuclear aggression into outer space, we'll reduce your planet to a burned-out cinder."
Not quite as ironic as my memory had it, I guess, but close.
I guess I should've mentioned I was talking about the original version. I haven't seen the one with Keanu.
Party on, dude!

@village1diot actually saving the universe from a rash, warlike, creatures entering the atomic age was the important thing.

That would be dumb.
tctheunbeliever 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@tctheunbeliever "Most atheists I know are quite familiar with the Bible" if they understood biblical theology/history, they couldn't really be atheist, they would just have to lie.

Doesn't it suck to be lied to, even if you're lying to yourself?
tctheunbeliever 1 year ago
@tctheunbeliever "totally reject science before even attempting to figure it out" one fact that you ignore is that Christians are raised in the same world as everybody else. We're taught the same sciences in school & universities but when you let the evidence speak for itself, ppl still say a finite universe needs no cause. Talk about abandonment of basic reasoning. btw the scientific method came from Christians. "Hating knowledge." Really? Then why are we commanded to examine everything?
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 LOL "the scientific method came from Christians"--if Christians use the scientific method, they don't have faith. Try to keep your logic, such as it is, fairly consistent. Obviously they were not true Christians like yourself. You're not gonna convince anybody here of this bullshit, so go find a pulpit.
tctheunbeliever 1 year ago
Raezene 1 year ago
@blattt188 And that's a very short list. Youtube won't let me post the hundreds of names there really are, of brilliant men and women that suffered under Christian stupidity! "Same sciences", are you kidding me! Kent Hovind was a christian science teacher and the man didn't know shit about anything. Its not like those poor kids he taught had a chance. Stop starting with a idea you try to make the facts fit, then maybe you'll get somewhere.
Raezene 1 year ago
@blattt188 I've been a Atheist since I first got through my bible 20 years ago. I've never met a indoctrinated Atheist, but I have met indoctrinated Christians. Would you be Christian if you were born in Iran? Religion is something we're mostly born into with very rare exceptions. How is not accepting God about pride? Its about not just following blindly and believing everything the bible says. For example there is no real proof for the flood. Did Noah swim to Australia and collect Kangaroos?
Raezene 1 year ago
@Raezene "I've never met a indoctrinated Atheist" I'll make this as simple as possible, here's how it works: there is no such thing as a "free thinker" you will inevitably follow somebody's philosophy. Everything you see & hear dictates your way of thinking & it's been that way since your birth. To say there are no indoctrinated atheists is ridiculous; you will listen to God or you'll listen to the world, no neutral. btw I wasn't born into any religion. I was raised to be skeptical & discerning.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 Let me make this simple for you, you just said we have no free will. Would I be showing my powers of free will if I chose as you? Here is a good way to identify a freethinker, look for a person that can say "I was wrong", and moves on. If evolution was proven to be false scientifically tomorrow I can admit I was wrong. Can you do that? Probably not! Btw I never said there are no indoctrinated Atheists, just that I haven't met one.
Raezene 1 year ago
I was just reading the book: "The complete sayings of Jesus" and it's amazing how everything he says is completely contrary to man's way of thinking. No wonder the religious people tried to throw him off the cliff & beat him to death with rocks. He even condemned the self-righteous "religious" elite; the Pharisees & he called them blind hypocrites. Man, Jesus is so not like the world. It's no question as to why he told the disciples that they(Christians) would be hated & mocked by everybody.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188
OK, so you have to be a member of your religion before you have a prayer (pun intended) of being elected to just about any of the highest offices in the most powerful country in the world, and you're still bitching about persecution? Are you delusional? Shit, I've heard of martyr complexes, but gimme a break.
tctheunbeliever 1 year ago
@tctheunbeliever Wrong. True Christians have no interested in having power & reign in high places of authority. The rulers of this world are Luciferians. The fact that they can call themselves Christian & you believe it shows how ignorant you are.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 That's handy. If a Christian leader exterminates millions of people, you can just say he's an atheist, not a reeeeeeel Christian. Your religion is so full of copouts.

@blattt188 Believing in fairy tales could be considered pretty weak too.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake I agree. That's why I'm not afraid of reality like most people are so I don't lie to myself by pretending that I was some universal mistake therefore what I do doesn't really matter & I never have to worry about ultimate consequence. I know I'm not a god & I know I made nothing so by that, I can't be conditioned to pride. I deny the "fairytale" that man's corrupt carnal reasoning, that always leads him to self destruction holds any matter against the revelation of God.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 Do believe in Jesus, God, the Holy Ghost? If you do, you are believing a fairy tale, a myth, an ancient legend. Man's reasoning isn't inherently corrupt or carnal as you put it, that's merely another myth propagated by religion to attempt to validate its own legitimacy and falsely shame people into following. Your belief in fables is anything but a clear grasp of reality. You cling to a false hope in lieu of reality. Religion is just highly codified wishful thinking.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake Congrats, you have it completely backwards. "Man's reasoning isn't inherently corrupt" ? Sometimes i wonder if I'm living on the same planet as the people I debate. To say man isn't corrupt is even more ridiculous than to say the universe is a random accident. "Religion" is a means of control. Kind of like how they prey on our desires & tempt us with all kinds of self-destructive evils from an early age so we grow up to hate a God who calls our error out 4 what it really is.
blattt188 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake I mean seriously, even my brother, who is a total God-hater admits that the spread of Christianity is a good thing. My ENTIRE family is godless, selfish, wicked, & depraved, but damned if I should care about innocent children, right? ...damned.
blattt188 1 year ago

GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago

The solar 'system' is a byproduct of blind luck...
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 There is absolutely no foundation for the black and white, one or another viewpoint you just described. I can ell you, for a fact, that human value judgments cover a far wider grey area than what you just proposed. You're making false equivalencies.
For instance, I believe in "self-exaltation" through believing in yourself and working to improve yourself, but that wouldn't stop my from risking my life to save another persons life, since I consider life valuable beyond even my own.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake You don't believe in objective truth? If I my name is jeff & you call me steve, he calls me john & she calls me george, am I not still jeff? It's the same on every scale: Without truth, there is only error, just like without light there is only darkness, without something, there is nothing, without right there is wrong..God/Satan, positive/negative...you get the point. Just because we have the ability to reason, doesn't actually change what is outside of ourselves.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 Furthermore, materials are not my god since I don't believe in gods. Material life is necessary to live, and some of said materials can be quite fun. If anything, I am thankful to the human minds intelligent and clever enough to invent and create so many of the things that make up "material (worldly as you might think of it) life. Toasters and microwaves, for instance are pretty handy, so are heating and cooling. Sliced bread even makes the list, and running water is extremely useful.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake I agree, materials are useful. If you are thankful to the creator of them: the human mind, why are you not thankful to the creator of the human mind: nature? Then you would have to be thankful to the creator of nature. If you keep tracing it back, you can only end at whatever force there was that ordained natural law to make the intricate systems that made our solar system, that made us, that made things...etc. Then the only question is the nature of the creative force.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 And still more, righteousness is not inherently evil just because I don't ascribe the adjective to pretty much anything. Righteousness, like most human mental constructs is only as evil as it is used. In a "cosmic" sense, nothing I do really matters to the universe, it'll keep on trucking long after me. What I do does matter to the people in my life and around me, so that contributes to it mattering to me. My own opinions and feelings contribute to what I do as well. So does law.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake "righteousness is not inherently evil" Of course not: righteousness is the exact opposite of evil. Well, if you're looking from a carnal perspective, you are absolutely right: we are just like the other animals; survival of the fittest & selfishness would have to be the virtue. Then why do we naturally care so much about others around us? How can anyone believe that love is illusion? What you do has great implications in eternity: the reality that the creator is of.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 My "innate sense of eternity" does not spring from some supernatural force or programming, it springs from my observation that I have yet to see time stop or end (would I even notice time stopping?), therefore I must conclude that time keeps on going. it seems to be an easily observable constant.
Love is an illusion only in that it is an intangible emotion experienced by living minds. In subjective terms, it is very real to me, in my mind, just as it is to anyone else who feels it.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake You know clearly that this universe is finite. You know it had a beginning & it will have an end. Based on observation, you see that everything around you does eventually come to an end. Everything in the universe tends to disorder & eventually death: even light particles will annihilate. How then can we conceive of infinity if we are not eternal or if not for an eternal source?
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 "even light particles will annihilate" The conservation of energy Law first stated by Julius Robert Mayer in 1842 teaches that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It only changes its form. This principle is implicit in Newton’s laws, though not actually stated by him.
I've already mentioned how easy it is to conclude that time continues potentially infinitely based on the simple fact of its not having observably ended.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake "I've already mentioned how easy it is to conclude that time continues potentially infinitely based on the simple fact of its not having observably ended"=crap. Conception of eternity would work if eternity actually existed, but now that we know it doesn't, that conception must be outside of the observable reality. Otherwise, it wouldn't matter what you observe here, you would naturally conceive that time must end somewhere weather you will see it or not.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 So really, do you have any other straw-men you'd like to pull out of the closet? The human experience exists in shades of grey, whether you like it or not.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake Just one more "straw man" Lolz
For every urge, a satisfaction must exist in this reality; If I'm thirsty, water must exist. If I'm hungry, there is such a thing as food. If I'm tired, I can sleep. If I'm sad, I can cry. If I'm bored, there is always some form of entertainment. If my longing for eternity can not be fulfilled in this life, the only plausible conclusion: I was not made for this world.
I hope you can refute this reasonably, because I can't.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 "If I'm thirsty, water must exist. If I'm hungry, there is such a thing as food. If I'm tired, I can sleep." These needs and their related satisfactions can be explained by evolution with greater evidence than the assertion that "God made it that way". The emotions you mentioned, while perhaps more complex, have a growing body of scientific explanations as well. Your longing for eternity is merely your animal instinct for self-preservation for as long as possible.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake "Your longing for eternity is merely your animal instinct for self-preservation for as long as possible"=crap. What does a longing for eternity ever have to do with any kind of naturalistic instinct? You don't see apes trying to mummify their dead. The animal instinct is to live as long as possible....until you die. That's carnal man's thinking just as carnal man is limited to a mere animal. You are being plain ridiculous now.
blattt188 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake Even if the Bible was totally false, what would compel you to even think twice about destroying the good faith of those "naive, brainwashed" people? You see the decay of morals & innocent children suffering all around you because the restraining Grace of God is taken off of man as we continue to suppress the Truth in unrighteousness, so man becomes lawless & wicked. Even if I was agnostic, I could never advocate something as vile as the "do what you want" atheist world view.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 And that's where you betray your ignorance and prejudice. You paint a broad brush of all atheists being anarchists or nihilists, when we simply aren't. I for one consider rape, murder, abuse, torture, theft, and false imprisonment to be horribly wrong. The only thing that has ever restrained man from its crueler instincts and behaviors is man. We've never needed (nor actually had) a supernatural influence to adjudicate our behavior to us, we've managed to do that all on our own.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake "You paint a broad brush of all atheists being anarchists or nihilists" Do I? Don't you believe that man should trust his own fallen corrupt reasoning, even after all the bloody history we've observed?
Here's how it works: Man always says the same thing, God always says the complete opposite. Man is corrupt, God is Holy & that's where it is.
Like I always say: "If logic alone could be trusted, there would be no wars."
-"we've managed to do that all on our own" =Lolz!!!!!
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 And there you again paint a broad brush and a total fabrication of baseless guilt by stating that man is inherently corrupt. The ONLY thing putting that notion into your head is your religion, that by its very mechanisms REQUIRES you to have that artificial shame. The only judge of man's instincts, both good and ill, is man. Have we had a bloody history? Indeed we have, we are still a developing species, and not all of us are going to follow the moral guidelines some of us create.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake "The ONLY thing putting that notion into your head is your religion" Oh, I always thought it was living on Earth that made me see the fallen corruption of man. Maybe I've been in some virtual reality all this time & man is really good.
Here it is: man does evil by choice; man is wicked & man is corrupt. The fact that man is too self-righteous to admit that he has done evil makes it even more evident. You can lie to me & you can lie to yourself, but you CAN NOT lie to God.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 You fail to see how religion has indoctrinated you into the idea that mankind is inherently corrupt by default. Furthermore, there are serial killers who readily admit that what they've done, and would continue to do if they could, is evil, so your assertion that man can't admit it is baseless. I know I've done evil in my life, and I'm not proud of myself about it. In fact I try not to make those same mistakes again, I try to learn from them.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@GermanChocolateCake you talk toooo much. I'm not wasting my time on somebody who blatantly rejects what he knows is the truth of God.
blattt188 1 year ago
@blattt188 "Man always says the same thing, God always says the complete opposite." Perhaps; here's an example: Genesis 17:12-13 - god mandates circumcision for slaves (and does not bother to make slave owning a sin, in fact he even encourages salvery - Genesis 16:8-9, Colossians 3:22, Ephesians 6:5). I am indifferent to circumcision, but deeply opposed to slavery.
GermanChocolateCake 1 year ago
@blattt188 Another example: god specifically orders the rape of king David's wives: 2 Samuel 12:11-12. I for one think rape under any circumstances is disgusting and evil, so yeah, I've got to disagree with your god once again. Did I mention the uncounted times your god called for animal and human sacrifices? I have the scriptures to prove that too, and I find the entire idea of blood/burnt sacrifices for any reason and to any god to be barbaric and disgusting, so once again I disagree with him.
