I've recently developed a rather sick obsession with Lee Tergesen. I was on a website that lists shows he's been on, and as soon as I saw that he was in Weird Science, I clicked on the link to see what role he played. Before the page loaded up, it dawned on me. He was Chett! Holy fucking shit, he was Chett!

I had to come here for video confirmation. I'm still wrapping my head around the concept. Not sure yet if it's awesome or horrifying. I'm leaning toward awesome. I'm also still laughing.

I'm hard pressed to think of another sitcom character who is as obnoxious as Chett and yet so compulsively watchable. If you reach all the way back to the tv series M*A*S*H there was Alan Alda's nemesis Frank Burns who was similarly loathsome and yet you couldn't help but love him. Lee Tergeson's work in Weird Science is definitely in the same league and it's a shame he didn't get more recognition for it.

it was a great show. i wish it would have stayed on. Waytt and the High School Principal was on the same episode of married with children. They played a bagboy and a manager of a supermarket the bundy was camped out in when the power went out during a heat wave.
