  • am i the only one who is here because of the movie battle royale?

  • Great job ! I like the dynamics and the slow tempo. You really want to express emotions.

  • I suddenly remembered hearing this piece in a halo commercial and immediately thought, i will learn the name of this song and how to play it. A week later my piano teacher got me the sheet music for another reason but i was ecstatic!

  • who can dislike this song??

  • i remember when i watch the trailer of halo 3 for first time, this song bring me memories :,)

  • The dislikers must be deaf.... -.-

  • the popped collar makes all the difference when you're playing the piano.

  • BELIEVE

  • @Service115 sorry to hear that.

  • @Service115 lol another snide kid who takes shit too literally.

  • @Service115 LOL. dont worry about it

  • @Service115 lmao *facepalm

  • what the fuck is halo. this is chopin

  • @llJAFYll halo is a franchise of a video game corperation that uses this song in allot of their games and the comercials

  • I think I may be the only one who didn't come here because of Halo. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that, but this guy is truly amazing. And THAT is why I came here. Because of him.

  • Yamaha FTW!!

  • @TheLoski91 I laughed, now I feel bad

  • Such a beautiful peice

  • im 16 its official this is my wedding song

  • halo may have brought me here but chopin kept me here

  • @booger965 <3

  • now im a metal head but i can apreceate a little classical music to. and there aint nothin wrong with that

  • 2:42

check again the sheets man =)

take a closer look. those 2 chords dont play at the same time ;)

  • @Chalax92 Don't they?

  • Very well done. I absolutely love a piano when its played right!

  • You're not allowed to like music if you heard it somewhere mainstream.

  • You captured the emotion of this piece very well, chopin was a genius and his other preludes (24) in total are all very good also.

  • This music captures the empty feeling I feel now, knowing the girl I love will never love me, nor shall anyone else. At least Chopin gets me.

  • Wahay for GCSE music!

  • great song love it

  • Beautiful interpretation! One of my favorite solo Piano pieces :). The middle section is just chilling, I love Chopin's music so much.

  • Beautiful, powerful music. Not often do i find music that moves you in a was such as this.

  • Excellent. Part of my music gcse exam Chopin i'm led to believe pops up there. So i was advised my music teacher to watch Raindrops. Very Nicely Played. By the way what a great song.

  • @bassmanjake123

You're taking a music gcse exam? And you call it a "song" :0!?

  • @keetner

My Apologisies for calling it a song. Very nice anyway. =]

  • Second part... isn't the Crescendo supposed to be clarified? Also, the chording is accented in the sheet music with pedaling instructions... is this really the right way to play this song? Third part, the bass section is either overriding the treble, or it's just your recording device. Remember the entire song is played Sostenuto (sustained/legato). Try using the middle pedal... perfect ending though.

  • great video

  • This is the best version of this composition I've heard, magnificent.

  • Damn, this doesn't look easy to play at all

  • is this guy asian?

  • No Justin Bieber in the High rated´s Comments,no VEVO,a epic game, and a Beautifull Piece of Chopin

    WHAT DO YOU WANT MORE?

  • beautiful

  • do you have the sheets for this?

  • lawlz, Chopin played Halo 3.

  • anyone else think its funny when to two highest rated comments are related?

  • I learned this piece thanks to Eternal Sonata.

  • Too bad that this masterpiece was all I was looking forward to by the time halo reach was coming out. that game is a shame unto itself.

  • For me it's the other way around: If it wasn't for Chopin I never would have known about Halo 3. :D

  • @TheLoski91 then he must of made a lot of team kills :D

  • really, that Chopin's music requires a lot of interpretation. and you touched a phenomenal way! Congratulations!! ;)

Me gusta mucho

  • Yes, I'm a classical music newfag. Yes, I learned about this song from the Halo commercial. That doesn't change the fact that I can appreciate the song as the best classical piece I've ever heard.

  • @poonwoofer it isnt classical, its romantic. two completley different eras.

  • @PaperPromisesBand and the middle section is desalote depresion waiting for a hero. wanting to belive

  • @shad0wshrew chopin wrote this while exiled to a small monestary in the meditaranian after being diagnosed with TB. Warmer climates help to treat the disease, although not cure it, but after moving there, he was not alowed to stay with the townsfolk because of his illness. he wrote this alone, having just split up with his wife of nine years. he was depressed and saw no hope, so no he wasn't waiting for a hero, or waning to believe, but the desolate depression part is correct.

  • thank you, it was insightful..

  • Comment removed

  • @PaperPromisesBand Classical isn't an era, more of a genre. Because what you probably would define as classical could be Baroque. It's a vague term.

  • @poonwoofer You're not a 'fag' at all just because you just learned about how beautiful classical music can be. Whoever is saying that is a cynical asshole. It doesn't matter where you discover it, if you discover it and appreciate the music, you've gained a liking to some of the best music in my opinion of all time.

  • @poonwoofer <3

  • sorry for being an asshole (some one's got to say it, or type it in this case) this guys plays this piece so fucking taky (flavorless; unclear; shity) I'm surprise people liked it. So yeah dude, advice: make sure you practice MORE before recording it!

  • @patovhell Where's your recording of the piece then?

  • ETERNAL SONATA!

  • CAN YOU PLEASE POST A TUTORIAL?!

  • Now you must learn the 16th prelude to complete the mood. : p

  • Could people just stop mentioning Justin Bieber on music video's...

  • This is so beautifully played :)

  • This is one of my favourite classical pieces, next to some string pieces, I love it. You have done a good rendition of a piece that is difficult to master.

(Also, I saw that someone said that Chopin is pronounced 'chop - in'. That is incorrect, it is, I believe, pronounced more similar to shaw/peh/n. That pronounciation is from a Polish background, the French would say it differently.)

  • @Arkturium

Well, some people said it was show/pan.

  • Skip to 1:40 for pure Halo3-trailer-awesomeness :3

  • Nice peace full

  • Omg i could listen to this forever... its the most beautiful thing ever :'(

  • I hate people who say that things like this arent music. Its music alright, and we like it so shut the hell up, and just enjoy cause that was what it was created for.

  • I know the Halo 3 trailer was very cool and I myself am a very big fan of Halo, but do not credit this song as "Halo 3-Believe". Credit the actual composer, Chopin, for this work of genius.

  • This guy does songs in long versians which is awesome.

  • was wondering why there was a lump in my throat. kinda got lost in the music. man Chopin knew how to stir up some emotion

  • did you know it was nicknamed 'raindrop' because Chopin composed it during a storm

  • @sashnhaz also because left hand sounds like raindrops falling

  • @An2quamaraN it's the repeating note that sounds like raindrops

  • @DEFGI are you serious...? jeez, i've played it like about 500 times and never realized...

Mate, my comment was friendly and yours...definietly wasn't.

  • @An2quamaraN if it sounded like it was being nasty, I apologise, didn't think it was at the time, sorry

  • @An2quamaraN yes he is serious :D if you see the notes you definitly see one note, i think it is a A. That repeats over and over again

  • @rfhtje yeah it is A-flat and in the middle part of the piece it is G-sharp (same note but different meaning) but...didin't you feel an irony in my comment...? why are you telling me to see the notes if i said before that i've played this piece about 500 times already - this is the first piece i've learnt for piano

  • @An2quamaraN I learned to play this song a couple years ago. The notes are easy, but this is, like any Chopin piece, extremely difficult to articulate into the depth of emotion Chopin meant it to be played. There is no possible way this is your first ever piece you learned. If it was, it would have taken you years to learn the notes, and more to perfect it.

  • @1byanka believe it or not, but this was my 1st piece. Notes printed from .pdf file and had to learn it on keyboard. I've learned it at the age of 17. You said the notes are easy. I've found them easy to remember too. As far as my memory goes, i could play it without notes after a week. But i've never said i can play it the way it is meant to play, cause as you said, that's a Chopin...but i try and i am epicly happy that i don't do more mistakes.

  • @An2quamaraN oh really i never noticed that before

  • this song must be really hard to play.....Chopin was a virtuoso performer....for people who dont know this means a person who has mastered the skills of their instrument.......im impressed by how well this is played...well done Jh8812

this is a GCSE piece that i am studying.....love the key change in it...love the song........your version sounds incredible........how long did it take you to learn this?????????

  • o.0 its in halo? when?

  • best interpretation of this prelude on youtube!

  • @turinturambar1812 obviously u didint hear a very good one

    /watch?v=6gV9gUeFHIw

  • Thank you very much for sharing your talent.

  • best part... 1:51 - 6:13

  • beautifully played, nice one!

  • 38 people missed the right button..

  • @cicciomer Shut the fuck up dude, seriously. I hate when people do that shit.

  • WOW U GOT HUGEEEEE HANDS =/

  • wow

  • marty's still better btw

  • I imagine other's have asked but have you sheets of this song or do you play by ear? and if you have sheets can you send them to me? :)

    Good playing anyhow :D

  • This was on Gran turismo 4 and yet no body recognises it for that

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno That's mostly because the Halo Believe campaign was more iconic, showing a crushing blow to humanity at the hands of alien invaders, where a hero brings the Marines back from the brink, all the while this song plays. Gran Turismo is not quite as popular as Halo, and it is a racing game.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno Ignore the comment after my last one, I didn't realize it was you who posted both the comments I was responding to.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno I never seen/heard that commercial. (Don't watch TV) Kan you show me a link to it? I looked it up but couldn't find it. I'm curious as to how Gran Turismo did it.

  • @Enayjay16 search for "Halo 3 Believe"

  • @Nazgul1846 I wasn't talking about that commercial. I was referring to the one he mentioned, that Gran Turismo apparently made, but thanks anyway.

  • i prefer the lower chords

  • People need to calm down about this and the music being from halo. I like them both. It was an ideal choice to use it in a trailer for the story backdrop of humanity fighting for it's survival. Why can't people be glad it was appreciated and let it go that they knew about it first. Btw good job on the piano.

  • @SaintJonathanD You're right. It doesn't make any sense if someone says it's a great piece of music but then complain about others finding out about it through Halo. If they recognize it as a great piece of music, then it shouldn't matter where it came from.

  • i now believe in human beings, thanks chopin.

  • I am glad Chopin is Polish :)

  • I love the way you play this piece - I am reading the book written by George Sands (Chopin's lover) called 'Winter in Majorca' where I believe he wrote this music. Apparently he was dying of TB and had gone to Majorca for the sunny climate but it rained the whole time - this is reflected in the constant a flat, sounding like rain drumming on the roof. I am learning to play this and it's helpful watching your finger work. Well done and many thanks.

  • Bravo! Bravissimo! You brought out the emotion in this piece very well, and good editing around any mistakes you might have made. I especially like the middle section for it's gravity. It's just so dark and heavy compared to the rest of the song. Once again I say Bravissimo!

  • You killed that song!

I know there were a few cuts, but the piece is ridiculously complex. I have no idea how to read it's sheet music; there is no way I could keep up. Good job.

  • Well, from what I heard, most people heard the song from their piano lessons or music class because this piece is one of the most magnificent works create by Chopin.

Speaking of Halo, many people think heavy metal and rap music are the only music of Halo. I believe they should think outside of the box.

Joke: Don't you think Chopin will be mad for not putting a copyright on this work? : )

You see, on BOBSMITHIE's Rain Drop, his title is only Song of Halo 3.

  • I could honestly care less about Halo 3, but Chopin is timeless.

  • I love how people who haven't even heard of this before halo 3 are claiming they love it. True musicians can hear the beauty in this. Some 16 year old who likes this just because the creators of halo put it on the advert think they are music geniuses for finding this.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno

Had heard this prior to Halo 3 but what on earth is wrong with Bungie using this as trailer music, And people discovering it that way whats wrong with that? It's bringing people who would'nt ordinairily listen to classical pieces to listen to it and hopefully more to expand their musical horizons, Get a grip and stop being elitist, you don't own the status of liking something, Anyone can hear the beauty/sorrow/anguish/joy in any piece of music you don't need to be a musician.

  • @Asfrina Most of the people who play Halo would never listen to this, kids think that because it's on Halo it is good. I'm not saying Bungie couldn't use this. Just when little kids are like 'OMG that Chopin song is lush' it annoys me. 1. They pronounce it as CHOP IN not show-pan 2. These kids listen to demoralising lyrics such as ' Motherfucking bitch got up in my grillz so i pumped him with ma Ak'. These kids then say its the best thing ever made. When they clearly Have no idea about music.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno Just because I like halo it doesn't reflect my musical taste. Personally I love Chopin and Halo. Both are great pieces of art but through different forms. And during the game I hear no rap or metal just classical music, although Steve Vai did do a cover of the halo 2 theme.

  • and amazing piece of music, well paced and well played :)

  • A very simple piece which is also very beautiful... didn't know it was in Halo ! :)

  • This song is the shiznit.

    HALO 3 FTW!!!

    I <3 Masterchief. Srsly.

  • Really, this is a wonderful peice of music.

  • I'm pretty much learning this because I heard it in the Halo 3 Believe trailer :)

  • @CRISNCHIPS12398 its much better because its played at a slower tempo and its the full version

  • @abe134: yeah man! Halo 3 is more than just a game, its the best game I have even played!!!

  • im doing this as a setwork in my music class, its a nice song :) or whatever :L

  • its called raindrop cause of the constant A flat

  • a more drastic change in dynamics please,,,,, but overall quite good ! :)

  • it used in the opening theme of flotilla for those who know

  • "LMAO THIS IS FROM HALO!!!!"

    yes..its from halo..

because halo is 150 years old

  • @QuakerILYA

    Ha, that was cracky :P

  • @QuakerILYA lol whoever wrote that needs to be shot

  • This music is amazing. Since the Halo 3 advert came out, people have stopped making the full song, and started making 'edits' of the parts shown in the Halo advert. Microsoft nailed the right spots, and now we have the most perfect edits, like this video here.

  • @petacavanagh The whole song is beautiful. Microsoft just exploited it. This songs been around for nearly 200 years and then gamers claim its brilliant. This song shouldn't even be associated with halo. It should be associated with the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Not hate and fighting aliens

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno I know :)

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno How exactly did Microsoft exploit it? It was only used in a 90 second commercial back in '07. Not even the whole prelude was in it.

  • @SilverBlade784 Because they use such a beautiful piece of music to advertise a video game about killing aliens and showing how much of a disgrace the human race can be.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno It's not just about killng aliens. It's about risking their lives to defend Earth from an invasion led by a powerful union of alien races who is bent on destroying mankind. It actually fits the commercial. Like Asfrina said, at least people who would've never heard this music in their lives now know about it. Many people are learning to play this prelude because of the commercial, including me.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno

You are an ignorant idiot. Music creates emotion, and the emotion of this piece fit the emotions of the Halo commercial. Not everyone who plays Halo listens to just rap and death metal. And so what if they do? It doesn't make them unable to appreciate beautiful music like this.

Guess what: Halo is how I found out about this song, and yes, I LOVE IT. Get out of your ignorant and conceited ways and just appreciate the music.

  • @Maybsumdayuwillno

Not everyone who likes Halo is into Rap, I honestly hate it. So that's proved you wrong for a start... I was brought to this music by both the Halo commercial and the indie game Flotilla.

The Halo series has a bad reputation of being enjoyed souly by mindless idiotic 10 year old screaming kiddies. I for one, love Halo as well as classical music. I know alot of people who love the Halo series for the storyline and atmosphere rather than just going round "KILLIN' ALIENZ!"

  • Nice work

  • You see.. this is why I LOVE Frederic Chopin.. he writes poetry on the piano, seriously!

  • Chopin wrote the preludes between 1835 and 1839, this is not from halo, i don't know why those teenager freaks relation this master piece with "THE VERY FIRST FPS EVER MADE IN STORY" (This last one was obviously sarcasm.)

Brb goin to play some golden eye and listen to some classic music

  • @lesengir you hate halo?

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much for posting this video, I am trying to play it from sheet music and watching your hands helps me a lot. I am also reading the book 'A Winter in Majorca' writtin by Chopin's lover George Sands (female) which makes the music so poignant and moving.

  • Like the jacket...reminds me of the phantom (of the opera).

  • This piece is the best example of simplicity showing power and emotion.

  • 4:16

  • fucking beautiful, it reminds me of glorious despair.

  • I cry whenever i listen to this song...so beautiful...I agree with abe134, it's so much more than a game.

  • @MotormaniaGRE you wouldnt know what real music was even if it bit you in the ass

  • 4.16 Jump In

  • finally, someone who plays at the right tempo. everyone else ruins this masterpiece by playing either too fast or too slow. great performance. !!

  • Try to let this sound like raindrops. Maybe make some more changes in dynamic as well. Dare to be a bit more drammatical and sometimes leave the pedalium away :)

  • It's so revelative

  • A bit flashier than what Chopin probably intended.

  • This is a pretty good performance, although not to my taste. I especially do not like when he tries to make this piece flashy by adding unnecessary gliassanos to some of the chords. Chopin did probably not intend that, as he wrote this piece in a sickened and waiting state. To me it should be as dull as the rain, no glamour, just simple expressiveness as it fluctuates in volume.

  • i believe....

  • Very nicely done rendition of this beautiful piece. I wish I could play this even close. Is it perfect? I don't know, but a pleasure to listen!

  • Уфи лчя.... Is it just me or am I just the only person who almost cries everytime I hear this?!

  • @PinkyPainVids ......youre not the only one

  • Why do people drop this a half step?

  • @UncomfortableSilence

-Why did people raise it a half step?

    -Oh Snap! O_o

  • I Could Play This, Completely Forgotten Now :(

  • just a suggestion but u should make a video showing people how to play this song because i would love to learn how to play ti

  • i play piano on my own.. but i think this one is bit too hard for a tutorial?

  • It is.....

  • after 1:54 Feeling Song it's not Smooth

This song of Chopin note it's easy...

But Play feeling just like a Raindrop that is..It's Hard

  • @airvarie. thats wen the song gets good tho

  • beautiful piano

  • You've made a wonderful work. Congrats for your talent and thanks for sharing this !

  • Arrgh...I wish I could play. This song makes me want to learn, just so I can play this one song....

  • I heard this many years ago. A friend of mine was playing it on the piano. It is nice to sink in memories a bit. :)
