@BiotecVirus yo, i have a problem with this game (not that it is lame!) but, when i load it up, and try to play anything, it crashes, but i have gotten the menu working.... it won't work even on the lowest settings....
@Nessinby Go onto the hl2 wars forum and in the "bugs and support" section post your system stats and a fully detailed log of what you do and what the computer does before the crash. There i should be able to help you out more.
My god I can't wait for this game to be fully finished. I'm supprised Valve hasn't asked you to make the strategy game for them. I played the first release of Wars and it was awesome.

rebels and combines should possible share the same ressources while the antillions also need to gather some slimy essence and also stuff which combine/rebels are going to need . i would say 3 or 4 different types of material. as antillion you need to build next/inside the ressouce and as combine some futureistic building and as rebel some simple building.
@DildoOfDaDoom Well, Combine have Stalkers, Rebels have Citizens, and Antlions have, well, Antlion Workers. However, having two different resources is a much more challenging way to play, as the supply of one can make or break a team. Ala Starcraft.
to be honest it wont make much sence with the source engine to build this RTS, I dont exactly know the limits of it, but it needs bigger maps, each fraction should have lots of different Inf. lots of buildings (towers,forts,barracks, missile silos ,university to re-search stuff for example diff types of units (rpg,gun,automatic gun for the combines headcrabs in pots to shoot into air/ground,gunships,portal storm as kind of "tactical nuke" and so one..... i wish you guys all of luck :D
Looks great. Will the antlions have the advantage of manoeuvrability? In HL2 they could leap up cliffs and burrow under the ground. These abilities would cross over very well into an RTS game.
@CrowbarSka They have indeed crossed over into the RTS game. *Will the antlions have the advantage of manoeuvrability?* by that you must mean when they vs rebels and combine, this has not been finalised that antlions will ever fight them in player vs player matches but you never know.
@CrowbarSka Depends really if we can balance the antlions to be good enough to vs rebels and combine. Plus there is a huge source engine bug when a antlions guard vs a strider as when the guard hit the strider, it *floats* away.
@BiotecVirus Seeing as how the strider is also supposed to be immune to anything but explosives & strider-busters, having them at all sounds like it would be game-breaking. Not to mention Gunships.
Still, if you could make the antlions fly/hop, that would be neat.
@Blurns we will find a way of balancing things out, I'd also imagine we will make them vulnerable to bullet damage but it won't be very effective against say a strider. Gunship wise these will most likely become abilities e.g. gunship strafe for example.
@BiotecVirus What I meant about the Gunship is that against a faction of antlions wouldn't be balanced because the Antlions wouldn't have any real means of hurting a Gunship.
@BlargNuggets123 gunships are only vulnerable to explosive damage. Yeah, I know i'm a stickler for continuity.
although i suppose it could make sense for acid antions to be able to hurt them with their acid and death-explosion, seeing as how the two aren't ever really seen at the same time.
@Blurns I was thinking more like a swarm of antlions litteraly clawing apart a gunship by using there hop but now that I think of it I like your Idea better
@BiotecVirus For the Strider, if you wanted to keep its damage immunities you could make them have some sort of a resource upkeep, or add a new resource type to fund Combine tech (which would also open access to explosive-weapons units to counter the Striders).
@Soupstorm there are lots of possibilities of which to explore on the strider front, we will most likely try them all to see which is the most fitting to the mod.
