Anyone know what you'd call the technique being used in this scene? The way the characters are moving about and talking. Anyway I love this film and the style and the humor. I've seen a few Hal Hartley movies and gotta check out them all.
honestly, id call it "hal hartley style", lol. when u see all of his movies (and his shorts), you'll see its his "thing". he is very influenced by bresson and goodard, but he also has his own style as well. very monotone delivery of dialogue, yet the actors move among each other almost as if theyre choreographed. he does this in all of his movies. hal hartley is awesome. one of the most important figures in independent film. hartley & donovan are one of my fav regular director/actor combos
I want to own all of the Hal Hartley movies on DVD as part of my movie collection but it's upsetting that so many of his movies are out of print; discontinued; or not released for North America. I own this movie; I own The Girl from Monday; I own Fay Grim; I did see Henry Fool; I watched about half of Trust when it was on YouTube (I would have liked to have seen it all). I just ordered Simple Men and Flirt online.
yeah, luckily i own all of them (except. i bought them a while ago, & now im discovering (like u said) so many are discontinued now. now...this could be a sign that newer editions are coming out. its usually the case that when a dvd goes out of print, that means its being re-released in a better format/edition. who knows...maybe the criterion collection came to their senses and picked up 1 or 2 of his movies. or...maybe theres a box set coming out or something. that would be cool.
...I'd like to apologize for my entire existenze

@sucramnipp I love how his actors move, and how they look away from the people they're talking to.
