There was a girl, there was a boy, if they had met they would have crawled into the backseat of Dad's Rambler on a Saturday night, gotten drunk on a stolen half-bottle of Jack, and awkwardly plowed the rut like inept, occasionally hesitant rabbits. She gets knocked up, they get married in the back yard, both get by-the-hour shit jobs for life, move into a rusty, battered singlewide in a local seedy trailer park, and continue to breed several more times, living in wretched poverty until death.
I liked this song even before I knew the Osmonds were Mormons. But now my thoughts are, no matter your faith or the Osmond's faith, this music is much better than so many music of today..
What a wonderful time in our lives!! Broke my heart to hear Donny talk of all the pain he endured during his career..So glad he came full circle and realized that the ones who loved him in the beginning are the ones who love him still, after all these years :)
I can't imagine a world without with the Osmonds. They have brought so much Happiness to all the their Fans who still Love Appreciate them for what they are. A Family with Deep Faith and aren't afraid to stand for the convictions. Thank you so much for being a part of my life. I'll be a Fan forever.
I must admit I was more of a Led Zep/deep purple fan in the '70's but my best mate in high school adored them. The Osmonds was all she talked about...for a long time!! I didn't dislike them but was more into rock. Thanks to the Tube many years later, its like I have started really appreciating their refreshing songs. And yes, I do recall they were pretty good role models. Thumbs up to them.
Ah, the age of innocence of Donny & Marie! This has always been a favorite of mine from their first LP in 1975, when I wasn't even a teenager just yet. Amazing how many years later when you haven't heard this song, that you can still remember the words (without looking at them above in the description box). Still a wonderful and pure song sung by them, and what an absolutely beautiful video.
Oh the fantastic seventies......This is a beautiful song, had a lot of time for The Osmonds, they made some great songs..Marie was stunning as well...takes me back to my High School days....thank you for posting osmondgal
Donny Osmond and his born again bisexual sister Marie used to offer to "teabag"their fans when they would throw pennys at them while they sang and danced.
Of all the stupid things, it makes me think of Fulton County, Pennsylvania. Seems I recall driving through there, heard this song and thought of Pennsylvania lovers. Too much time in the car LOL!!
This song is about a older man who loved a younger woman. They make it sound like geography and not time. And for Donny and Marie to sing this as a duet is either creepy or incestious.
They were my idols in the 70's, this song was my girlfriend's and mine, I was 15 years old when this song came up on the radio in 1975 in El Salvador. Now I live in Australia and all have is memories..............Love this song!
This of many of my favorites. vilmad007 I wanted 2 look like Marie, did what I could 2 get my hair & make up 2 look like hers-never cud. Wantd 2 marry Donny--closest I got 2 him wz going 2 the Osmond concert & winning a contest 4 a free phone call frm him, but missed: wasn't home at the time. So many songs of theirs I love till this day. From childhood years till many years later still get laughed at for my love for them but hey who could care less--they're the best & always will.
I loved Marie and wanted to marry her that I was willing to give up Folger's at the request of the Osmond clan. I'd walk hand and hand with her to the very top of The Morningside Of The Mountain and propose to her while she sang this song and then she'd push me off. "Please Where's Toto?", Are we in Kansas?
I always had a crush on this womans smile. In the 70's watching the Jackson's, we sometimes look at the osmonds, when they came on tv. This white woman has one of the prettiest smiles i ever seen. I thought Farrah had a nice smile, but she was very tooth-e. To this day at Marie's age, I look at her smile. Why didn't she do a tooth paste commercial? I'm sure it would've sold.
Esta es mi cancion favorita de Donnie y Marie, me regresa a mi edad de 15 anyos en 1975......yo queria ser Donnie y cantar con Marie....jajajajajaj....que tiempos los 70's
This is my alltime favourite Donny and Marie song. I remember back then I wanted to look like Marie Osmond and I wanted to marry Donny Osmond. I also wanted to be Mormon like them. Both have not lost their good looks and charm through the years as evidenced by their appearance on "Dancing with the Stars". Will always love them and listen to my old records of two of the greatest people in the show business.
@vilmad007 Yea! I LOVE THEM 2... I'm only 15 but i like them.. xD (i'm mormon btw) My friends would make fun of me but i'm like.. pffftt.. so what.. haha

Hi,I just read your comment and I feel the same. Takes me back to my youth and how happy I was to dress up like Marie Osmond and sing the Osmond hits. I want to cry too for lost youth and the innocence that the Osmonds reflected in their songs
