I saw him at a small Bible Study, and I didn't know who he was. He was very genuine. Nothing "famous" or "celeberty" about him. Just another Jesus People person who really loved the Lord. After the Bible study he said, "God gave me a song, and I want to play it for you guys, but I want you to focus on the song, and not my playing." But his playing was so profound, I could not concetrate on the message.

Keith was an awesome intensely devoted Christian. He was a force, an arrow in God's quiver who moved many people closer to the Lord. His preaching, before he met certain "love gospel" characters who subsequently persuaded him to water his (God's!) messages down, would break you down and cut you to the quick. After this, he would gently guide you back into even deeper closer fellowship with Jesus. God used him to empty you so that God could fill you back up with Himself.

My parents worked in the Christian music publishing business, and had a meeting with Keith at his home in Texas shortly before he died. They took a tour of the area in Keith's rented jet and everything. That was the same summer he died, in that plane when it crashed. It still upsets my mother to talk about Keith.

It was such a great shock and a great loss. I'm sitting here now listening to his music and weeping. Keith was three years older than me and was the apple of God's eye. Two of his children died with him and we all wondered, Lord, how could you let that happen?" He was truly sold out to God as was/is his wife Melodie. He is still ministering from beyond.

So maybe at the root of the overloaded plane was tempting God God or something. This was the song that we sang in that church service where the choir director got fired not I don't want your money I want your life. I remember it. It was like 27 years ago when we sang that song.

She really did get fired. At that time the pastor was into the building fund scheme and the building got built. Then he got the notion to build another one and it was wearing the people down and she picked this song and we rehearsed it and when we sang it, it didn't go over too well with the board of directors. My friend prophesied after the song was over and I went out the side door to get away but the side door was locked. lol. You could feel the oppression.
