Not a Tornado, I live in Ohio, and even I know that was not a Tornado. And the NWS doesn't know shit. Like you said, they confirmed it was a Tornado, but that didn't occur until a few days after. If it were an actual Tornado, they would have had Tornado Warnings out, Sirens would be going off, and they would have confirmed that with the Radar. The NWS always says it was Tornado damage days after it occurs (they guess). The actual News stations are the ones that have the real eyes!!!
@MrBradmyster I lived in New York for ten years and I can honestly say that I dont think that that city of all cities is equipped with any tornado sirens. I can see why but at the same time, it would be a good idea to have them too. Any place is not immune from tornadoes. Just the chances are less depending on where you live.

A rain wrapped tornado is the most dangerous type of tornado, regardless of the wind speed inside the storm. If you had known this was a tornado, I am sure you would not have been so close to the window! :)

Oh man, I remember when our house got hit by a micro-burst. We thought it might have been a tornado, especially since part of a tree fell down on our house. We barely had time enough to react and hide in our bedroom closet. Scary stuff.

Just because you don't see a tornado that doesn't mean you should automatically assume that there was one. Yes, many small tornados are rain-wrapped, but the only evidence this video provides was that there was a severe thunderstorm in progress. Stop labeling everything as "tornado," when there was only suggestive evidence that either 1) straight line winds or 2) microbursts were the cause of structural damage.

There is no tornado in your video. You just have a rain squall and gust front with a marginally severe hail core. This thunderstorm was only moving about 40 mph based on this video. The peak gusts appear to be about 60 mph. Any tornado that was produced by this thunderstorm was not in your vicinity. This is a marginally severe thunderstorm..
I live in Kansas. I have my entire life and to me that looks like straight line winds. If there was a tornado it would have been rain wrapped and was probably only an F1 at most and all those cars that you see in that parking lot would have been moved around and damaged in some way and those apartment windows would have been busted out. So I'm not sure on this one but there was probably a 5% chance of a tornado somewhere in there. Just sayin.....

@MthreeknightsC A yellowish tint to the sky because of the lowering sun + a ton of moisture from the storm causing the right tint of blue can make the sky green. Severe storms tend to produce that perfect combination, especially ones with hail. I've gone through my share of storms where the sky turned green, always towards the end of the day- always with a severe thunderstorm warning. No tornado warnings though.

There was definitely a tornado that day. It hit Manhattan where the sky was green, it also hit staten island in tottenville, brooklyn and a part of queens. That was a crazy day. I was in jersey watching the news.
Just because you guys can't see the tornado, doesn't mean it wasn't there. It could have been a rain-wrapped tornado. Not all tornadoes are clearly visible.
Not all tornadoes are visible or even have a condensation funnel but they do produce rotating and more damaging winds. These are straight line winds and precipitation produced by an impressive downdraft which is evident all the way through, as you captured the downdraft approaching and as it passed through. You should be happy with the footage of an excellent storm, but there is no tornado in this video.

Just because you don't see a tornado that doesn't mean you should automatically assume that there was one. Yes, many small tornados are rain-wrapped, but the only evidence this video provides was that there was a severe thunderstorm in progress. Stop labeling everything as "tornado," when there was only suggestive evidence that either 1) straight line winds or 2) microbursts were the cause of structural damage.

There is no tornado in your video. You just have a rain squall and gust front with a marginally severe hail core. This thunderstorm was only moving about 40 mph based on this video. The peak gusts appear to be about 60 mph. Any tornado that was produced by this thunderstorm was not in your vicinity. This is a marginally severe thunderstorm..

I live in Kansas. I have my entire life and to me that looks like straight line winds. If there was a tornado it would have been rain wrapped and was probably only an F1 at most and all those cars that you see in that parking lot would have been moved around and damaged in some way and those apartment windows would have been busted out. So I'm not sure on this one but there was probably a 5% chance of a tornado somewhere in there. Just sayin.....

My family and I was at Bed-Stuy during that storm. We were going to my grandmother's funeral and boom full tyrant force of nature. Un-fucking-believable. We actually survived that without getting hurt.

@MthreeknightsC A yellowish tint to the sky because of the lowering sun + a ton of moisture from the storm causing the right tint of blue can make the sky green. Severe storms tend to produce that perfect combination, especially ones with hail. I've gone through my share of storms where the sky turned green, always towards the end of the day- always with a severe thunderstorm warning. No tornado warnings though.

. To suggest that this was worth watching, you cannot hunker down inside your office, make vague commentary on events and try to gather my interest. been 100 ft away at mt cottage and watched my cartop boat and canoe tossed onto my deck with my dog wailing under my bed and 2 windows blown out. Now that's what i call exciting! Scary but riveting. It was really just a funnel cloud ( mini twister) No time for photos when the REAL DEAL comes at you. You just Hunker down -

There was definitely a tornado that day. It hit Manhattan where the sky was green, it also hit staten island in tottenville, brooklyn and a part of queens. That was a crazy day. I was in jersey watching the news.

Just because you guys can't see the tornado, doesn't mean it wasn't there. It could have been a rain-wrapped tornado. Not all tornadoes are clearly visible.

Not all tornadoes are visible or even have a condensation funnel but they do produce rotating and more damaging winds. These are straight line winds and precipitation produced by an impressive downdraft which is evident all the way through, as you captured the downdraft approaching and as it passed through. You should be happy with the footage of an excellent storm, but there is no tornado in this video.

@blogger480 This is actually false. Opening windows does nothing for the structure. Yes you will experience a pressure change, but doing this will cut into precious time you may have to find shelter. A building does not explode as some think from a pressure change, it falls apart because the winds lift away the roof and once thats gone, the walls will go.

I think it's funny when people who aren't used to tornadoes or hurricanes get this kind of weather and freak out. xDD (I was born and raised in Miami, FL and then lived in Oklahoma for 15 years then moved back to Miami. I've experienced both hurricanes and tornadoes) I mean, for people who aren't used to this kind of weather, it's scary! lol

You nknow whats weird. Yesterday in Greenville we had a tornado 10x worse then that. Me and my mom were at the mall when on of the doors just flew right off the hinches and it was metal and almost killed a little boy. Thank god were safe!
