any one who lives ups in the northern parts in this country should or feel the meaning of this song if not then you never lived in a northern town. thats too bad you will never know what the meaning is.
I was 10 in 1980 so I spent my all my teen years in the 80's and what a great time to be growing up it was. It wouldn't of been nearly as good if it wasn't for great music like this track.
takes me back to when I was about 14...scary as that memory is...this tune waz a GREAT memory...always made me feel much better than what was actually going on in my life at that moment.. SMILES FOR EVERYONE!
I'm from this era, In the 80's the stoner kids loved 60's music, I'm not where I thought I would be now, however, it's not so bad. even though I grew old and conservative, I learned from everyone I encountered. The hippies are correct with Love, also there is respect, kindness, honesty. Accepting where your at in life with these positive elements is beautiful. It's where faith meets destiny.
I just read where this song was written about Nick Drake. Listen to "Pink Moon" and others that Nick wrote, such a sad end to a talented artist. Thank you for posting.!
YES!!! Thank you! I couldn't quite describe the mix i get when i hear this song! This is as close as i got:
:::This song has always reached inside me and pulled pretty hard from somewhere primal. It has always made me feel sad, despondent and alone; yet at the same time, overwhelmed with almost a fierce joy and emboldened.:::
Song takes me back to what can only be described as a simpler time. I love the album cover, too. This and Everything But the Girl's "Idlewild" albums got a lot of play while I drove around in my Fiat convertible. Good times!
@wendys120 Well i'm glad to hear that someone lets their kids listen to real music rather than the crap that's out there. Get them to listen to this song: Big Country - In A Big Country. Have Fun!!! Bobfari
@wendys120 My fourteen year old has been listening to the Beatles since he was ten. He just borrowed my Led Zepplin box set. Both my kids think today's music is horrible and live off my collection. It's funny how kids are different.
It's not fair. Time passes too quickly. We have children who usually don't get our music. Remember it was just like yesterday that we were wishing our PARENTS could get our music?
@wendys120 You wanna know a sad but true incident? a couple weeks ago, was driving to work i stopped at a red light and there was a mom and a daughter singing one kesha's song toghether........sad.
@wendys120 I remember as a kid I hated my dads music. Today, father of 3 boys, they love mine. Amazing, and it's because of songs like this. When I play this in the truck they sing along and ask for it again. I enjoy it a lot.
When this song came out i was sitting listening to it and loved it the first time i listened to it. Those where the great good old days when you can have fun without any worries. life was fun going to parties meeting new people but no one does this anymore it fizzed out.Parties that your friends had all fizzed out. no one does it anymore,it's funny how time flies and things change
Absolutely love this extended version of one of my favorite songs. I remember the winter of 1963 . . . cold and sad, with John Kennedy having just been murdered.
