Where is the lag man?? I can see it's not 100 FPS, but it is still prolly smoother than 360 or PS3. GTA 4 is a CPU game, and one of the most notable CPU games out there now. If your CPU sucks, you will have problems with it no matter the GPU>

i had the same problem but much worse after a few mins of play...im running an older 7950 gx2 card and get great frame rates, the lag was caused by memory leaks try putting a command line in ...this may help :D :( if it doesn't work just take it back off ) forums steampowered com forums showthread php?t=828416

this is called "framedrops"

you get them if your system is not really strong enough to run the game, or when you just maxed the game too much.

lag on a gts250? shouldn't be there on high settiings. my 4850 512mb doesn't have lagg at all on high in GTA 4 :) also runnning a core 2 duo 3.33 GHZ not a quad and windows 7 so it's strange that you had lagg ;)

yea i get 55-60 fps avg during max possible settings with 3.2ghz amd phenom black edition processor and 4gb ddr3 and bfg gts 250 oc. my min fps was like 47 during a huge 6 star cop fight. online i somtimes hit 80 fps but i dont really count that since its kinda rare that i hit 80

Buying a new cpu for just one game is stupid. Save your money. For the price of one i7 procesor (800$ in eastern europe) I bought 23" samsung lcd(260$) , loghitec 5.1 speakers(150$), Loghitec chilstream gamepad(50$), mx518 mouse(60$), a loghitec keyboard(70$) and awesome antec case(200$).

It's normal. GTY IV is a directly converted from consoles to PC. The job they did is very, very bad. I will never play GTA IV on pc 'cos it kills the experience. I have a pc like yours and I haven't found the game that I can't max out with 50fps minimum.

Yes. I agree. But I can't get over it how they fucked up this time. A budget PC like 4gb of ram, intel core 2 duo and a gts 250 is more powerfull than any of today's consoles. If this game was converted good like let's say Resident evil 5, it would run 50fps minimum even on budget machines and high settings.

ur spec can definitely play gta 4 on medium setting without any lag (30+ fps).. but win7 seems to have a problem with a certain version of gta4, ull prolly notice some very bad keyboard stuttering
