I do hate, loathe, and dispise the show Glee, and as thankful as I am that kids to-day are re-discovering these classics, I'd much rather they discover them on a new show styled after the QUALITY variety shows of the past. A new age Carol Burnett show, Ed Sullivan, HELL, even something styled after The Lawrence Welk show.

As it is, the show makes me embarrassed to reference classic songs because people insist knowing those songs makes me a fan of that piece of shit show.

I have no words to describe this, absolutely takes my breath away. Babs is a legend, the like of which we will never see again. Lea's version is quite good, she has a nice voice, but it doesn't blow me away and makes me feel that she doesn't fully mean it. When Babs sings, it is from the heart - like she personally feels that way.

They are different people and different performers. Do I think Lea is going to have a career like Barbra? I'm not sure, thats not through her lack of talent its just careers like Barbra are very hard to come by. Now I LOVE Barbra and I think she is one in a million. How in the world can anyone compare Barbra Streisand to Lea??!! Barbara is a LEGEND and has had a career with more longevity then I think Lea will have. I don't even think Lea is the closest thing we got to Barbra because there are no similarites at all. Barbra has a much more stronger voice and one with more range whereas Lea's voice fits more for broadway and just doesn't fit the scope of the music industry.

I still can't believe some people have the gall to compare Lea Michele to Barbra Streisand. Just because Lea can hit some high notes (which are not that impressive if you ask me. If you know music, you'd know that Lea is not an extraordinary belter), it doesn't make her comparable to Barbra. Are people really calling Lea a legend? Oh, please... When Barbra was her age, she was already absolute. Lea needs to grow still... I'm rooting she'll get there (I really like her) but please... She's not mature with her voice. She doesn't know what she's doing half the time. But hopefully she'll go places! The thing about Barbra is that she knew from a very early age exactly what to do with her voice. Nothing ever seems fake, under or over sang. A true interpreter. Just beautiful always.

@vcunhacarmo i agree.but you do realize Lea Michele sings differently on Glee because she is playing a 17 yr old and they auto tune her voice which isn't needed.she has to sound young..but you do have a point...at the Tony Awards she didn't have to fast pace the song.If you listen to her when she sings Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awaking..I think she is at her best or when she sang For Good (Wicked) or On My Own (Les Miserables) those are the kinds of songs Lea knows what to do with her voice.

And you're right: she doesn't even have much time to go deep into a song before recording it to the show... but actually i'm more concerned of those times she sings live. when she sang "don't rain..." on tony awards i was disappointed... it just strickes me when people call her a legend already.. but she is great! maybe i was a bit harsh on her before... It's just that after hearing barbra, everyone else seems awful. :)
