These guys are amazing..Hands down.. But If Sedrick could pull off the things he does in the studio at a show he would get alot more respect.. Most of my friends were really disappointed in the vocals when they seen them. I went to see TMV and I agreed.. I love the albums, but I just wish Sedrick could pull it off at a show.. Besides that, great music.. Fucking brilliant stuff

I don't know to whom you're refering, and what these "senseless things" are, all opinons are NOT equal in that some are far better thought out and considered, and much more sophisticated than others. Thinking that all opinions are equal might really blind you. Yeah, everyone's ENTITLED to their own opinion, that doesn't make all opinions equal.

Well what i'm saying is, for the most part, not really an opinion. Just listen to the bands that inspired them, and all of the prog-rock of the 60's and 70's. King Crimson, Hawkwind, Rush, early-Pink Floyd, etc.. Nothing so new that the Mars Volta do, they just do it with a different energy that they get from their punk background.

Well technically thats all any band has ever done. The only way you could really make music without combining the best of what you hear is by not listening to music ever or by playing chance music, such as John Cage has done in several instances. But yeah, what your are talking about is having influences. King Crimson, Hawkwind, Rush, Floyd, all had influences too.

I'd say, as wonderful as TMV are, they're in the former group.

@crieswhicharewings Every artist is inspired by other artists in ways we don't even know. So in that sense I don't think anyone is the most innovative. However in THIS era of music I think they are definitely one of the most adventurous and innovative in their caliber of popularity.
