  • Just picked up an SR9 today, love it! One note on this vid though, you do not have to pull the trigger to take the SR9 apart, it actually comes apart much easier with the trigger forward rather than pulled back.

  • Great review thanks!!!

  • I am 15 an I just picked up a ruger sr9 for 404$ on Jan. 1st 2012. my mom had to buy it of course but I gathered the money and I have to say it really is a great gun and I think the did a great job on it. It feel very comfortable in your hand and the recoil is nothing. Well done Ruger

  • This is called saying good video

  • I can see why people used to say you were glock friendly I never realized this back in 08 09 when I first watched your vids because back then everyone was glock biased when talking polymer. Anyways nice vids.

  • glock is extremely ugly thing[:@], ruger is absolutely beautiful [:))]and life is to short to play with ugly things!!! maybe you should consider to put the "ugliness" category in your list[:*]

  • One of the best reviews ive ever seen. Just kept it real and down to earth thanks again for the wonderful review ive been searching for a low expensive 9mm with high capacity and i think this is going to be it. only pistol ive fired was a .40 glock and didnt like it so this seems to be a good alternative

  • You did and excellent job of reviewing the SR9, valid, informed points with huge educational value, thank you!

  • Ok, going to get my first gun soon. WHICH ONE?! I like both SO MUCH!!!! Please help me!!

  • @XArticRageX glock is extremely ugly thing, ruger is absolutely beautiful and life is to short to play with ugly things!!!

  • @zulfik95 lol good advice.... I'll take that into account when I buy a gun :)

  • @XArticRageX I fell in love with this ruger. Here in Bosnia we can have only one pistol, so first I have to sell the one I own now, then get through tones of papers and stupid laws to buy this baby. The paper job will cost me about 300 dollars plus ruger which costs 1300 dollars. As soon as I get this money I am running to get it!!! Lucky you!

  • @XArticRageX Hold them, check them out, go to a range that has rentals or borrow one from a friend a shoot them, then buy.

  • @Rougewolf Alright, that's what my parents were telling me a few days ago. Now that I've heard it from someone who knows what they're talking about ;) I'll try that out

  • @Hazamayakiba as he said In the earlier review. "There Not My Guns" So he wouldn't have manuals... Dick!

  • This is a good video HOWEVER, your handling is less than desirable for a shooter with your level of experience. NOTE: RUGER recommends NOT PULLING THE TRIGGER (dry fire or during takedown) unless there is an empty magazine resting in-place. I would have thought that YOU, of all people, would have followed proper safety protocol, specifically, always read the owner's manual FIRST (before use or doing a review video like this one).

  • i just looked on the ruger website.. they are selling it for $525.

  • The Hi-point c9 is the easiest in the world to field strip :)

  • @filoIII hahaha

  • I bought one brand new at my local pawn shop, $390.

  • Nutnfancy, hi, great review, however, you forgot a step in the take down and reassembly process. There's a pin that you MUST push down first prior to pulling the slide out. And then using a mag to reposition it back up. Just a thought.

  • Hey Everything. I like the stainless steel slide too !

  • oh and obama wont take nobodys guns. hes my nigga. MR OBAMA can do no wrong. remember that

  • that sr9 has more beefy rails than the glock sigma or sd9. thats a plus for me. it jus seems a bit more sturdy

  • Where I live you can get em for 325 brand new.

There are 4 price jack stores near me, I have made friends with my favorite dealer, his prices are very decent, He aint trying to make a whole bunch of money of a gun. He prices it where he makes a few bucks but not much. The rest a wanting 50 or more dollars in profit.

  • Where I live you can get em for 325 brand new.

  • @isamtator What state do you live in?

  • @skrillmau The dirty south!

  • Part 4: ruger sr40. :)

  • quick question, what happens if you have a round in the chamber, pull back the slide a bit, press down the slide release buttons and then fire? ... will the slide come off and like launch forward or will it go back into place the round is fired? :P I've been wondering that for a while :P ... I hope it stays in place, but it would be funny if it didn't XD

  • thanks to obbama I know 4 people that bought the SR-9

which is a beauty at good price

  • @szlagjasny

Why do you guys believe so much that hes going to take guns away

  • @1titans

when he got in the office , people panicked

    becouse he is a comunist

and comunists do not want the people to have guns

  • @szlagjasny I'm an Anarcho-Communist and I feel anyone should be able to be armed for purposes of defending themselves and/or others.

  • @xspeechofangels

    good

  • ty 4 da review, do u feel da same way for da SR9 COMPACT?

    THX

  • @ndenn002 yup i dont have one i have the40 s&w one the sr 40 it is the some thing i love it 2000 rd count no jams and smooth trigger pull i am also in possession of the sr9 c it has a bit of a stiff trigger but still has the same reliability as its full sized counter part .

  • i love the sr9 better man it looks better

  • i just bought one for 415 at , impactguns.cam check them out people

  • i just bought one for 415$

  • here is a good link to get

  • Just bought my sr9 and it's my first gun. And I got it for $428 on sale. It was originally $469. But now I have to wait 10 days for the California check.

  • @nutnfancy Hey, Nutn, I'm thinking of picking up another pistol in 9mm. Which do you think would be the best bang for my buck? I'm looking at the SR9, M&P 9mm, and the FNP 9mm.

  • for my sr 40 i just use the sharp corner of the mag to pop that pin out.

  • Not trying to nit pick, but you can push the ejector down and forward on the ruger sr9. This enables you to dissemble the Ruger without pulling the trigger and it makes it much more simple.

  • I love the stuff you do man! I'm a gun crazy 17 year old (don't worry, responsible enough that my uncle lets me handle his guns, that's saying something) and I think responsible gun handling should be common knowledge, you have contributed greatly to my understanding of various firearms, thank you very much.

  • Dear nutnfancy... Hi im ed 21 very big fan sir'. Im From Michigan And we have great ccw/cpl laws... Please If You Have Time Could You do A Review on The RUGER P345. favorite gun would like to see your opinion on it thanks sincerely Ed

  • I have a Taurus PT 24/7, and I was just wondering if you would give it a good review or not. I personally like it, it seems to be a good buy for the cheap price, but I would just like to hear your opinion on this particular pistol. ...so please do.

  • fnp beats the glock in take down

  • You really did a good review on this and I love it.. High quality video! Great! Just unfortunate though if it could reach Europe, particularly, Switzerland. Haven't seen so many Rugers here my side. Hope you Ruger guys attend a gunshow here every first week of December and sell your stuff. The name of the gunshow is Bourse International Aux Armes and you can find them on the web. If you do participate in the gunshow please advertise it thru Nutnfancy so I can save up for the SR9. Thank you!

  • im getting the sr40 do exsited

  • i think a fn is the easyest gun to take apart

  • @Rasey07 Rasey keep watching the fox bs propoganda , never once has there been any fact of the president opposing the 2nd amendment . I have many many military friends who like our president and the oath I took , Well it wasnt to Fuckin use Torture breaking the geneva convention treaty. If you acually fact check you would know Obama's stance on guns. Use the brain the good Lord gave you and think for yourself instead of blindly following the hyped propaganda. I am all for my gun rights !!!

  • @Rasey07 That President will win again , he got more done in his first 2 years than any president in years. He passed a new VA bill that really helps vets and got dont ask dont tell out. As a Vet I was disgraced that he used torture , we hung generals after ww2 for waterboarding then wrote the treaty. Then dumbass broke it ,as a soldier it is just giving our enemies more ammo to torture our warriors. He alot better than what we had , hopefully we will see a Great leader in our time again.

  • Love your video's on these 2 pistols and all your reviews very very helpfull. Im a proud U.S Army vet , served in the first gulf war. Your Obama referance however pure ingnorant. Never Have I heard one word spoke during the race or since hes been president about banning handguns , its all right wing propoganda to rile them up. 20 of 28 years with a republican pres. and abortion is still legal . Im an independant and a christian. Abortion would be illegal if we listen to propoganda. Great vids

  • My favorite gun is the Bersa 9mm thunder Pro (17+1). My next favorite is the Ruger sr9. Both guns are less expensive than the Springfields, Glocks, Berettas, Sigs, but are at least as reliable if not more so.

  • nothing can beat the 1911 track record

  • Two guns I think beat the glock 17 for take down

    -Bersa Thunder 9

    -S&W M&P

  • even at cabelas it was on sale for 399 at 1 time and thats cabelas

  • God, that stainless steel slide looks...sexy :)

  • sorry obama got in dude. I know, I know...

  • @420Madhatter its 2012 now. he is OUT.

  • Reviews on sr9 aftermarket grips?

  • I would bbq with this guy any day, even if he sounds like spicolli. LOL. Great vids dude, love the sr9.

  • Personally, I love when your reviews take 2 or 3 parts. I really enjoy just sitting back and listening to your opinion and thoughts. Keep the reviews coming!

  • my only grip... You should not dryfire the sr9 with no mag in it, it destroys trigger pull...

  • OK.

I watched the 3 part series.

I've never come across this guy before. But I would highly rate his review. Down to earth and no-nonsense.

Some of his 'calls' might seem iffy.....but he's clear that when he's speculating....he's doing just that.

He's not pretentious. He doesn't pretend. He doesn't patronise.

    Yup......I trust this guy.....!

    I'm gonna look for more.

  • Ruger came out with the SR9C and just recently came out with the SR40. same thing as the SR9 but as a .40S&W. Ruger did this because of this pistols great success. They are talking about coming out with the SR45 depending on how poplar the SR40 turns out to be.

  • Liked your review. Pretty straight fwd. Have to admit I do not agree with you on the safety feature. I feel better having a pistol on my holster either "locked & cocked" a la 1911, or one in the chamber as with Beretta's M9/92 FS in DA/SA. If I want to carry something around without a safety action, then I go for a SW 686 of Ruger GP 100, both in 4 in. barell. I've seen too many Glocks with trigger jobs @ 3.5-4 lb, sending flyers all over downrange BUT on the intended targets. :D

  • I cringed when he jammed the slide of the SR9 forward without pushing the ejector lever down and not leaving the trigger in the forward position. By not doing so, the back of the slide catches rather abruptly on the trigger bar. See how it got hung up as he tried to move off the frame? Yikes.

  • I have a glock 21 and first time i see the sr9 i feel amazed by its looks I will get one soon! How is the accuracy of the ruger?

  • great review, nutfancy! Thanks for sharing your unfiltered and various opinions in the course of your review. I found this very useful.

  • Hey nutnfancy I am in the market for a new 9mm carry.Have you fired the sr9c and if so what are your thoughts on the new addition ?Do you feel as impressed after a year with the Sr9 full size ?

  • I don't care for your video good sir...

  • @tatorsal

so... why did you watched to the 3rd part good sir? Oo

  • @Mastertim2006 it's part of a vid series, a parody. I see you like climbing, where are your climbing vids? I have some climbing vids in a silo check them out if you like, thanks tatorsal...

  • @tatorsal I hope you will get blocked by Veri.

You keep saying that you are not interested into Nutnfancy's videos yet you find enough time to leave the same comment on many of them.

Not only this 3 parts video but I seen your comments on other videos too.

You dont like ... you dont watch.Simple enough even for you.

  • @JoeDurobot It was a joke started by ZBOYCO blocking me who has a group dedicated to people who were blocked by nutnfancy, Veri thought it was funny. READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE COMMENTING. I have NO Personal Problem with nutnfancy o.k....

  • Great review. You are the master of gun reviews. Not as entertaining as some others. But you definitely are more informative. Keep it up!!!

  • nice review, certainly the ruger is a very nice pistol all around

  • nice vid.. i just paid $515 for mine from Turner's Outdoorsman. now i gotta wait 10 days to see if approved or denied =/ .. if i had a petty theft on my record will i be approved? thanks

  • How about a review of the SR9c

  • Even when you are favoring another gun, you are still plugging the glock. The SR9 is nothing more than a Glock that is produced by Ruger. If you are going to give a review of a gun, learn something about the gun before you start the review. You also failed to show that if you draw the slide too far back it will cock the gun and you can't break it down until you drop the hammer. BTW, calling an armed citizen a sheep dog is an insult. Try doing a video without Pushing the glock on people.

  • @CalicoJackDefense "calling an armed citizen a sheep dog is an insult"

I dont think you understand it right if you think its an insult.

I am a proud sheep dog protecting the sheeps the best I can.

  • I bought the sr9 recently - and am complete;y happy with it - and ---its American made

  • No less than $420 in the Portland Or. area.

  • I'm a huge fan of the nutnfancy videos! After your review of the SR9, I went and bought one. I absolutely love it. Being that I have small hands it fits me like a glove. I was wondering if you could please review some holster's for it.

  • Part 3 I love it ,,,its your enthusiasm about guns that keeps you talking.,,I too could listen all day. so lets just make a little promise that in the beginning of part one you wont say " lets see if we can finish this in one vid anymore " cause truth be told most of us dont want you to. too much good info and humor , keep em coming nutin your the man.

  • Nutn,

Would you compare this pistol up against the S&W Sigma for me?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks !

  • I'm sure the American market also funds the development of European guns as well.

  • summer job for Ruger SR-9...$450

  • @mando006 if i had the money id buy u one bro

  • Anxiously waiting for an SR9c (Compact) review. :)

  • How do you DECOCK the gun? As I like to carry with one in the chamber, I can't get over how you didn't mention this? I don't like glock because of this.

  • @fordcobraone You don't "De-cock" a striker fired gun, nor do you need to. They don't have the same light trigger pull a traditional hammer fired gun does when in single action mode. I have a SR9, trust me, you have to pull the trigger, it's not so light that brushing up against it is all it takes to set it off.

I carry mine with a loaded chamber too, like all people should. It's safe, trust me.

  • @fordcobraone you take out the magazine, then lock the slide back and it will eject the shell that was in the chamber, unlock the slide, point in a safe direction and pull the trigger.

  • Something I hate about the glock is the slide release...so i got a bigger one. i have an older glock(mine doesn't have finger groves, or whatever else is new with glocks) i want a new handgun though. Can't beat the simplicity of glock though?

  • glock need oiling

  • My retailer only asks $300 for the SR9.

  • @JosephNowhere If that is true, that is BY FAR the cheapest I've ever seen.

  • Picked mine up yesterday...love it. put 32 rounds thru it shooting all slightly to the right (its me). no problems feels great looks great.

  • No bueno!

  • Which do you prefer the XD9 or the SR9?

  • I hope your friend knows you're tearing up the magazine disconnector by dry-firing with no mag in ;)

Great review! I personally like the addition of the manual safety as well as the trigger safety as I'm a 1911 guy and sweeping the safety is a normal thing for me.

  • i love your videos! hope to see a tabletop of the sr9c soon.

  • I bought my SR9 within the first 4 mos of its release. I didn't even get to fire one first, but just the way it felt in my hand and Ruger's reputation were enough for me. Not to mention, "made in the USA" is always a plus. I have big hands, so the rounded backstrap is nice. I had a few stovepipes during the first 300 rds or so while the recoil spring was stiff, but it has since fired flawlessly. For the record, mine loves Federal American Eagle ammo for the range.

  • hey nutn I thought you weren't brand myopic, ha what a laugh your the same as every other glock lover! just look at your video with the Springfield XD you compared it to the glock and said it's no Glock.

  • Made me cringe when u pulled the slide off without pushing down the ejector, same thing when putting the slide back on, the ejector must be pushed down during dissasembly and reassbly. Also dry firing the gun without the magazine will eventually cause some damage to the striker because of the magazine disconnect safety. I'm not being an A hole or anything it's just good to know for next time. Keep it up with all the great vids

  • I love this geek. I could watch his vids all day

  • @tantivymuckermaffikk they are addictive one hour turns into 3 ....pretty soon the grass doesnt get mowed

  • @tantivymuckermaffikk 'cause we are one of those gun geeks...:)

  • @tantivymuckermaffikk

Thats a problem when you notice the sun come up...and its time for work.

  • @tantivymuckermaffikk you could and i do

  • Hey nutnfancy, I loved your review. Now that it has been out for some time. What are your thoughts on the SR9? Same as before? Better or worse? I'm looking to get one of these 2 guns. I really like the SR9 a lot from what I can see.

  • @DirtTrackFanatic

sr9 is solid, chews up any kind of ammo. Also cheaper than the glock. Easy cleaning, plus the thumb safety. Aftermarket grips available, holsters available, and less recoil for me - less raw of a kick. SOLID GUN. Rent and shoot, you'll see.

  • @Politricks5 Thanks for the replies. When I first commented, it was 8 mths ago. I have since purchased the SR9c and absolutely love it. I have put a few hundred rounds through it now with no problems.

  • @DirtTrackFanatic

Negatives: since the SR series is new (even though they have the sr40 now) they don't have as many magazine capabilities as glock can handle. glock compact can use any other larger capacity magazine.. i don't think sr has the breadth of product yet. Also, dry firing (like nutn did a few times) is detrimental to the firing pin on the sr9.. but it can easily be removed. Removing it may void the warranty (although you can easily re-install it), but it'll also let you fire w/o mag

  • @DirtTrackFanatic did you get the sr9? how do you like your choice? :O

  • Thanks for the review. I have been interested in this gun for a while now and your review has helped a lot. Being a converted Glock fan for many years now, I want to add a different gun to my arsenol. Glocks rock and backwoodsman47 said it. I too carry a gun everyday and trust my life to a Glock, IMO, one of the very best made. I am going to add the SR9 to my collection, but not to replace the Glock. I used to carry a P89 and had 0 failures with it, so the SR9 is a welcome addition.

  • Academy Sports & Outdoors retails at $449. I went ahead and picked one of these up.

  • Ruger 2019 Catalog, is pricing the SR9 $525 to $565

  • @ajhedge I just bought a SR-9 OD green at a gun show new for $450 + tax the MRSP on it is like 589 but 450 is about the most you will pay for a new one. the OD is a sweet looking gun and you might have to pay a little extra for it cause they are so popular. I love it so far. I agree with the erlier user I think Glocks are ugly guns (not that looks should be a huge factor when compared to accuracy, firepower, ect) . He failed to mention the SR-9 loades gun lever that pops up when its loaded

  • how much do these cost?used price?any1 kno?

  • @bobbleheadz4sho

Plenty of SR9's out there around $310-$340 brand new in the box. Awesome deal.

  • @theindira1

Who cares how it looks? The beauty of the Glock is in the fact that when you pull the trigger, it goes BANG! If it doesn't, it is more than likely ammo failure. I have shot Glocks for 15 years, probably upwards of 60,000 rounds and other than ammo-related problems, I have had ZERO failures. When you carry a gun every day (like I do) you want reliability, not aesthetics.

  • @theindira1

You think Glock does not realize that? You obviously do not realize that point behind that. A Glock is one of the most easily recognized pistols on the market hands down. The look is part of what makes Glock.

I really hope you do not even own a firearm if you make a comment like that... because it only shows you don't think before you act.

  • I know you weren't used to the SR9, but you made that breakdown way too hard. First of all, if that was my gun, I'd be pissed if you dry fired it like that without a clip in. The striker wears against the clip safety when there's no clip in. You don't need to pull the trigger at all to move the slide forward and off.

  • glocks are the ugliest guns in my opinion

  • Yes, it does come easier than Glock for field stripping. The Steyr M has a rotating lever that doesn't require you to do the one-handed thumb-leveraged slide pull. Unfortunately Steyr didn't really want to sell them, for some unknown reason.

  • I guess its glock then

  • @hummusbomb i noticed that several times

  • It's not a good idea to do it a lot, but a few times every once in a while (I suspect he doesn't normally muck around like that, he's only doing that for review purposes) should be just fine.

  • your not supposed to dry-fire the sr9 without the mag in the weapon.also if you don't like the safety, don't use it.personally'ithink using the trigger safety only, like a glock,is rather dangerous.but it all comes down to training and practice.

  • Great review, this is my carry weapon and I love it. I carry waistband with no holster old school style and the frame is made for it!

  • Well Nutnfancy, Obama did get in, and we still have some gun rights. That was a shallow, right wing statement. I thought better of you, as you seem like an intelligent person. But back to the subject at hand, the SR9 has been fantastict for me. Love the ergonomics. And yes, I can spell,

  • Gotcha. Well the SR9 is on my wishlist but my first gun is definitely gonna be a Glock.

  • Good lord! Gander Mountain wants $500 for the SR9. That's absurd.

He missed a step that could of hurt the gun!! You could see and hear the slight struggle he had taking it down. He forced it passed the lever. (There is a lever in the center that needs to be pushed down)

He also fired the gun in part two with the clip not in. The manual highly warned against this!

Don't let someone barrow your gun endless you know they know what they are doing.

  • Good catch, I was thinking the same thing. He slid the slide off without pushing the ejector down (which you have to do on these guns).
