There's an incredibly surreal, almost transcendent beauty to this song. Just hearing it, and I'm instantly called back to that bleak October morning, sick as a dog, clutching a mug of orange juice and some blankets as my characters sets foot in Modoc. The feeling of calm, but also wistfulness just defies explanation.
And this is probably the single intelligent place on Youtube, meaning that I can make a post like this.
It's a bgm that when you do hear it after seeing such chaotic places like the Den, you think... I could be happy here. But alas... it's only a dream. ;-)
I love this piece of music, I was just totally captivated by it, such a sudden change in atmosphere, the first time I reached Modoc and just sat there listening to it, mesmerized.
Well fitted piece to modoc. A little hope for decency in the trampled wastes.

This piece was also the theme for Netstorm: Islands at War which I think Mark Morgan did it for that game too back in 97.

Miria: Stop, you're embarrassing me. You are just the sweetest thing. Why don't come over here and sit by me ?
Chosen One:I think this going too far. Can't we just talk?
Miria: I can't take this anymore! You're perfect. {She rips off her clothes, your clothes, and then...
Your world will never be the same again}

I was very pleasantly surprised when I re-heard this track in New Vegas, specifically in the Vault 21 Hotel.
