@gjghgdt Well at first glimpse, Crotchy McThrust is a bit off putting, but get past that and this is a really good demo. He knows how to mic an amp properly, and playing against a backing track gives you a much better idea how this amp sits in a mix.

Because that's the watts neeeded from the wall to make it work. The electric energy it takes from the main plug, not the energy it deliver to the speaker, which is what is always referred to as "the power of the amp". All Silvertone amplifiers and many others are marked that way. No direct relation with "acoustic" power. To check it, put a real 70 watt amp to your Silvertone speaker, it will burn in some seconds.

nice video & nice playing - you ever play thru a Magnatone? They have great tone for short money. I also recommend the Vega lapsteel amp (it's heavy) It's a lot like a 50's Champ and not $2,000. I used to have a Silvertone with 6-10" Jensens. Tons of punch and rock tone & the worst reverb in the world... thanks for posting...

You have asked the magic question! Everybody is all about the amp, BUT the whole signal chain is where it counts. I just changed it a month ago. I'm using an API 3124 into a Fireface 800. It's a 4 channel mic pre, and it sounds like a million dollars. API boards are the American Neve. Everything you record with it sounds HUGE!! I can't reccomend them enough.
