Maybe the beard was having a bad day? Or maybe his beard-mother (idk who a beard's mother would be. Maybe the barber was a woman who loved facial hair and took great pride in her work?) died and he was very upset and surly. Or maybe the beard's... moustache... was very small and malformed and no lady beards wanted to make little beard babies with him.

Or maybe Mrifk is an asshole and the beard hates being on his face, and vents his rage by copping a surly demeanor toward others.
