Very easy to understand. A job well done for someone from Bulgaria! The only thing I would say is TO PAUSE between the sentences, do not run them on as one does in the Slavic languages.
Wow, your English is good. To make your pronunciation more closer to RP, why don't you study and practise more on strong and weak forms (eg "for" and "and") and link-ups. These topics can be found in books on English phonetics, such as Daniel Jones' An Outline of English Phonetics, O'Connor's Better English Pronunciation, Colin Mortimer's Elements of Pronunciation, and Ann Baker's Ship or Sheep/Tree or Three.
Very easy to understand, the accent is obviously East European, not British. The pronunciation of a few words somewhat old fashioned/anachronistic - too 'posh' for modern received English. The phrasing, somewhat stilted/choppy. A more flowing delivery would be more attractive. If a delivery which is easy to comprehend is your aim - you've succeeded.
@davidenespana Obviously, you are not very familiar with EAST EUROPEAN accents. The guy does a really good job, he does not sound Slavic. Yes, the delivery is not perfect, however, he is easy to understand.
Understandable, yes. RP accent, no. You pronounce foot wrong, i dont here the right th sounds in there and mouth and power sounds also quite weird. It also doesnt really sound fluent.
Both a "Yes" and a "No". He had slightly misspoken and mispronounced the word "Tower", only very slightly, but of which it was enough to be become the give-a-way.
There were other examples and instances of course; but, be that as it may, and all the same, one would say that, that it was at least worth a try.
@AMANSILLA88 That's because now they have newscasters with regional accents as many people consider RP out of date. However, RP is still known as Queen's English although it's not really appropriate to call it a BBC English.
I am a native romanian/hungarian speaker. I think you don't sound like a native and I could tell that you are not a native speaker, but I think your English accent is very, very good. Congrats! Wish I could read like you do!
Impressive for a native Slavic language speaker. You seem to avoid a lot of the mistakes commonly made by slavophones. It's just unnaturally staccato sounding.
Let me put it hypothetically for you - if I met you at a bar or cafe and you spoke to me with this very accent, I would know almost immediately that you were not of British descent.
Good marks for trying though, your pauses are all in the wrong areas and as others have stated - you pause for too long. It lacks the flow-on effect to come off as naturally 'received pronunciation'.
Listen to the Queen's annual address for some further improvement ideas.
@MrCooldude400: It is not about how common English people sound, the video states clearly that the author makes his attempt on Received Pronunciation, which is very rarely spoken in UK nowadays. In other words, this Slavic person probably wants to sound like a BBC reporter from 60's or 70's (as at that time most BBC journalists spoke the old-fashioned version of RP).
you're putting the emphasis on the wrong parts of the words, also it sounds too robotic and jerky you need to relax more, oh and in the word 'territory' you should pronounce the second 't' more instead of a 'ch' sound - a good job from someone clearly not english tho
well done! I totally admire your accent. Your pronounciation is correct, simply perfect. However, you do too long pauses. It is extremely important to speak fluently when it comes to British accent. Try not to stop between words, I mean - say the whole sentence or phrase at least on one breath.
Excellent work. I would take for a native speaker, and that is a great achievement for a distant language like Bulgarian, but not RP simply because of your pausing between words. RP flows, but it is not fast like Romance languages. Your speed is good, but the flow needs work. For the flow, I recommend looking into elision and linking 'R's (but avoid intrusive 'R's!). Goose ought to be pronounced with an 'S' sound at the end, not that of a 'Z'. Really impressive work, elsewise. Truly.
uhm ..we dont speak like that....ppl think that we always have really posh accents we dnt...and we speak fast...and dnt prounounce all words properly...but good attempt:p
Very well done, slightly more accentuation on the vowels. Make them more rounder if possible, 'a' as in 'apple' and 'o' as in vowel. But other than that quite superb. One final suggestion try to accentuate the 'f's and 't's a little more, make them sharper and more controlled. your well on your way to RP dear boy.
@Cooiie I said "often called" , not "always called" . I'm not British, but I do have several British friends who live there and who use the term...don't know, perhaps it's a regional thing.
@marcoamedrano It's not :P Every single person I know says "Mirror" IF it is a mirror, if its a window on the other hand, or a piece of glass that you can see your reflection in, we say "Looking at our reflection" or "looking into the glass" :P
:) Im recieved pronunciation british, queens english :) Thats the proper english way of saying it anyways.
I guess it does matter about where you come from in england, but everyone i've met says mirror :)
received pronunciation has no rhotic presence. you need to say "huhself" not "herself." otherwise pretty good. work on the rise and fall of your voice (melody, if you will).

Your accent is quite good! I think you should only do a little more practice on R sounds. You often pronounce it like we do in Italy :p
Nimrodel84 1 year ago
Very good
goose should have the s like in hiss not as, which is more like z
foot is more like fut not like fruit
There are also some stresses which are not quite right but are difficult to explain.
Also, don't be put off by people complaining about RP.
As long as it is not too strong (e.g.1940/1950) it is a good accent and definitely gives the impression that you are well educated.

I do believe it is a quite good imitation. However, who could tell me why does it sound so different in comparison with BBC's accent currently?
