In the vid the data rate is plus minus 70 MBps. I've seen reviews with an average benchmark result of 110 MBps. In the vid he just copies a file to his internal hard drive, which could be SLOWER than the reviewed Verbatim!! (Yes, USB3.0 is very fast).

i just bought this drive and i also test it on speed, i have much different speeds, my verbatim on a aprox 10 gb file is only 30% quicker than another usb2.0 drive, so the speed isn't even dubbel, i will make a video this week, bacause i believe verbatim would like us costumers believe that the drive is 10 x faster. it's a big fraud for the costumers who don't have a big know how of pc's and just buy from the outside box. i did a quick ntfs format and i used a msi usb3.0 pci card for suport

Also, HP laptops have built in USB3.0 since January 2010. This drive is worth the money, it's not meant to be portable and must be plugged in to an outlet at all times. There should be a 7 year warranty not just 2 years. But I'm speaking for the American version. Install the USB 3.0 drivers from the HDD before you reformat to NTFS, they're tricky to

First, data transfers depend on more than just bus speeds. Yes SATA2 is 3Gbps and SATA3 is 6Gbps, but desktop (not skinny laptop drives) have and effective rate of 150MB/s. With this drive I have achieved a sustained 90+MB/s. Larger files do tend to transfer slower, like your 10GB one, probably due to buffering. If you haven't got it yet , Lightpeak has no purpose yet unless you have some magical harddrives/computer. My drive included a pci-express card and was $160USD from buy.com.
