Book is better, and the story should have been told properly and not jumping from comic to reality. Do one or the other. I wasnt sure if im watching a fantasy or a true story till monsters turned up i was laughing. This and the Clash of Titans remake should be in a box set for $1 at Blockbuster

The reason they were half naked was because that was the way a fast strike force moved back then. If they were weighed down by all that armor, they would not have been as effective and they would have lasted maybe 2 battles.

In reality each Spartan was covered with heavy armor from head to toe and they had two to three servants helping them as well (Holding shields and supplies).

This movie was based off the 300 COMIC BOOK not reality.

the historical fact remains that 300 spartans fought 10 000 persians in that small passage where they could fight in a row of 10-15 men. U dont have to b very smart to know when the 10 000 will push the front rows towards the wall of spikes its gonna b a slaughter.

So...the movie as historicaly accurate , is OK..

Just think the rest of it as a sauce , to spice up things and not let the audience get bored

So they favored men as lovers rather than women, who's only real function were to supply the world with boys. Who eventually would grew up to become great men and later great warriors. The intolerance toward homosexual behaviors came with christianity, hundreds of years after the great battle at Thermopyle.

This movie is not realistic at all, there are no real Greeks and Persians in this movie, and it is loosly based on history. Frank Miller needs to make better comics.

I think if you dump the historical references b/c it is hugely inaccurate, then you'll like the movie. The movie drew a lot of shit from people who thought it was racist, made the Persian people look bad, mocked transsexuals, etc. and all of those points are valid but again, the movie is surreal and is not to be taken seriously at all. More like a joke.
