The studio picked kids who knew martial arts and tried to teach them to act, instead of the other way around. The results are nauseatingly bad. Don't watch it. You will just be sad afterwards. Could have been awesome, totally sucked.
The original creators of the series worked on this. They said the only certian firebenders can create there own source then pull and expand that source and continue to use it as they see fit. From what I've seen in the previews they show zuko doing just that. That was not Koh one would think its roku's dragon in a dream state. The original ice berg scene was above water. Katara broke it by accident it all fell into the water and then aang popped back up out of the water. There's more but ran out
they should make a movie for naruto too. It's also a good series. I also don't get why the Fire nation people are indian. They're supposed to be chinese.

I just saw Iron Man 2 and this same trailer was in the previews. I've got to tell you, it just isn't the same as seeing this trailer in the theater. I mean when that giant wave comes at the end, if you go to a theater with a good sound system, you can feel the vibration in your chest; and the music is so loud it is just amazing. Made me want to see the movie and I'm not even a real big fan of the show. :)

They are olive-skinned actors. Maybe you were thinking a darker, more asian skin tone. Honestly this movie is being made in China, or Japan, or Korea, it was made in the United States. In the show, they might for the most part asian, but its impossible to cast like that in a film being made in the US. I think the actors for it are fine. =/ Nothing can be EXACTLY like the show.

Appa looks impressive from what I can see. The whole movie seems to be shaping up rather well. Still, I should know better than to get drawn in by a trailer.

As a neutral to the whole race issue (i'm open to both sides and in between), I thought of a solution:
We could ask the original creators (Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko) at Comic-Con. Just simply ask them "what ethnicity are each nation based on?". Also we need to ask for/know the film's intention whether if it's supposed to be a faithful adaptation, a re-imagination, or mix (or other).
This movie is going to be amazing. No matter what anyone says against that. I love The Last Airbender and I can deal with the little changes for the movie. Can't wait for July 2nd!!

Oh my.. I think they really changed how firebenders controlled fire!! At first, I was relieved in seeing Iroh strongly bending the fire.. But now, Iroh may have just lit his hand first then firebended it.. Oh my..
M. Night Shyamalan made it so that only Masters can conjure fire. Now most firebenders can't firebend unless there's fire already around. Something about making the playing field even. Whatever, Shyamalan. Way to put your own creative touch to it.

But firebender just make it. So in the film its explained by chi. Most average Firebenders can utilize fir if its there. But Firebending master can create it via their ki. And as for the name pronunciations that's how its supposed to sound in the actual languages the names are taken from.
Right, maybe, but the fact is that it is a movie that is based on a very popular concept that he took upon himself to change. It's not like a book where name pronunciations are up in the air. I just know for myself that I am not happy. But of course I'm still seeing it :)
@WhitePlumeria23 well it kinda is....the creators of the show chose to change the pronunciations from original chinese/japanese to something american children would be able to pronounce easier. So its not that M.Night made this change just because there's a logical reasoning behind it. Same for the bending change. It'll seem like Aang is really growing as a firebender when he learns to control fire from within. It shows a sense of change and maturity on a physical, mental and spiritual level.
@gojirasox Except American children have been watching the show for four years and they learned the pronunciations and "rules" of the Avatar world. Now it just seems that Shyamalan is making unnecessary changes. It's not like Aang is hard to pronounce. :P And with firebending, that is just going to make Zuko's angst and difficulty with firebending in the third book stupid and/or hard to translate onto the screen- it's not like suddenly he's lost his chi. :P (cont')

Suki will be in the film and cances are, so will King Bumi. Shyamalan didn't want that much comedy in the film, so unfortunately we will not see the cabbage man.

Yeah people who say the movie is "racist" are missing the simple fact that like every freakin' race IS represented which makes the movie, if it's supposedly taking place on an "earth" so to speak, all the more realistic in my opinion.
Apparently M. Night "saw his own personal struggle" in Zuko and so made him Indian and the rest was just a choice.
Different nations, different continents, different races. Not an opinion, fact.

Am I the only one who notice that the people in AVATAR world are mostly whites/caucasians?
Kitara n sokka should have darker skins ( either indians or maybe eskimos(?), Zuko should be a white dude and Aang a monk should have been asian.. chinese american maybe... 4 nations guys, which means 4 races..
Well, i guess holywood still doesn't believe in the power of non-white actors. But special effects are pretty good though. hope it wont turn into a DRAGONBALL Z MOVIE EPIC :)

- Aang is free'd from the crystal
- zuko and his soldiers see the beem shoot into the sky and go to sakka and kataras village to capture him
- aang escapes lol in 1:23 yu can see him jumpin around while his hands are tied behind his back that looked cool
-somewhere again aang is captured again by Zhao (the guy in 0:25) and zuko as the blue spirit rescues him (the sequence at 1:01 )
- THEN epic battle at north pole

Loved all the trailers but this tops. Cant wait to see the chapters from the series be made into a full length film. I also dig PAST AVATAR ROKU's voice YOU MAY ALREADY BE TO LATE awesomeness. I do not like Zuko though Jesse McCarthy could've been a better choice I think us fans are some what no very accustomed to the series characters voices.Not the movie character picks they could have been better.BUT THAT'S JUST MY OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Appa looks impressive from what I can see. The whole movie seems to be shaping up rather well. Still, I should know better than to get drawn in by a trailer.
I'll certainly go see this, and as good as it looks now, I'll still go in with just a bit of reserve.

@satras84 Yeah, I'm disappointed, too. D: But think about it, this movie IS pretty dark, much darker than the cartoon. The cabbage merchant's appearance all randomly would not fit into this kind of movie very well.
But then again, Shyamalan did say that he wasn't going to be in THIS movie, so there's a possibility of him being in future films. 8D Shyamalan would make a good cabbage merchant, I think XD

As a neutral to the whole race issue (i'm open to both sides and in between), I thought of a solution:
We could ask the original creators (Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko) at Comic-Con. Just simply ask them "what ethnicity are each nation based on?". Also we need to ask for/know the film's intention whether if it's supposed to be a faithful adaptation, a re-imagination, or mix (or other).

M. Night Shyamalan made it so that only Masters can conjure fire. Now most firebenders can't firebend unless there's fire already around. Something about making the playing field even. Whatever, Shyamalan. Way to put your own creative touch to it.
Did you know that he changed the pronunciation of the names too? Now it's "Aung" and "Soe-ka" and "Eere-oh". Yuck.

@WhitePlumeria23 It's not so much as evening the playing field it makes more sense. Air is all around us, earth is under us and water can be.....well beside you. And thats how the others bend. But firebender just make it. So in the film its explained by chi. Most average Firebenders can utilize fir if its there. But Firebending master can create it via their ki. And as for the name pronunciations that's how its supposed to sound in the actual languages the names are taken from.

Right, maybe, but the fact is that it is a movie that is based on a very popular concept that he took upon himself to change. It's not like a book where name pronunciations are up in the air. I just know for myself that I am not happy. But of course I'm still seeing it :)

@WhitePlumeria23 well it kinda is....the creators of the show chose to change the pronunciations from original chinese/japanese to something american children would be able to pronounce easier. So its not that M.Night made this change just because there's a logical reasoning behind it. Same for the bending change. It'll seem like Aang is really growing as a firebender when he learns to control fire from within. It shows a sense of change and maturity on a physical, mental and spiritual level.

Now it just seems that Shyamalan is making unnecessary changes. It's not like Aang is hard to pronounce. :P And with firebending, that is just going to make Zuko's angst and difficulty with firebending in the third book stupid and/or hard to translate onto the screen- it's not like suddenly he's lost his chi. :P (cont')

I mean in the future this film could be made with a cast of fuckin animals so long as the characters do the same and the story is similar it shouldnt matter if Aang is Ahng or if he doesn't glow the perfect shade of blue. And seriously Harry Potter's eye? I thought they were magenta i didnt give two shits.
