  • The cost of a seriously injured patient's INITIAL treatment ranges from about £9000 and up. Rehabilitation following serious injury is much more expensive.

    The Department for Transport has very kindly produced some information about "value of accidents" to put it crudely:

    Search their website for "Highway Economics Note 2005" and it will come up. Also, they have a Good Practice Guide for Local Authorities on Road Safety. I can't seem to post the links!
