  • I had a device like this for my tibial plateu fracture for 3 months and I hate it. Even much sophisticated and useful for fracture reductions, pins were stung like hell sometimes. I had to clean them every two days. What is left now is two holes on my femour bone, that are ugly, but I don't care much, I'm a man after all. Anyway, it worked for my fracture union. Ilizarov was a genious.

  • ryt now im having this for 6 weeks already it is very painful when the wounds of the pin dries up then you have to straighten your leg... any advice on how to ease the pain?

  • Iv had these and Ilizarov ones before i had to av em on both legs very very very painful im also 15 :)

  • There really is only one thing you need to know about these things........they suck!

  • I'm confused, how is everything sterile, but he's not wearing sterile gloves he's wearing clean gloves. I thought you touch sterile to sterile so the wooden stick wouldn't be considered sterile if he touches it with clean gloves, I understand he didn't touch the actual tip of the stick but idk thats just how I was taught but I know its different in the real world I guess.

  • Dr Rozbruch is the best - what a sweetheart! I have had 9 surgeries and three frames (external fixators) with him. I had each frames for 4 months. After about 6 weeks the pain is moderate and the frame is more of a nuisance. I went swimming in an indoor pool 3 times a week with the frame. I had very little infection.

  • yea if your doing it for cosmetic reasons no. there not as bad as they look like but infections are a bitch

  • why was the sterile gauze placed after the pins were cleaned? and how long do you have to keep the sterile gauze?

  • i had to wear one of these for a year due to an accident. Hurt really bad, well worth it though, Glad I had it done:)

  • the sterile technique was not followed while he was performing the pin site care. for example, his "clean" gloves touched the cotton-tipped applicators and the gauze so how can they still be sterile? =_=

  • @joie563 you are genius. He only touched the handle of the applicator.

  • @jdizzledazzle yes "he only touched the handle of the applicator" WITH HIS BARE HANDS!! Do you even know what a sterile technique is?

  • my cousin undergo to ilizarov but not to be tall but because he suffered from bone infection and he is really in pain, i hope he will get's better its about a year now..

  • @aizie27 I'm 5'9, but I'll be willing to get this surgery done to get to 6'2. I'm 21, turning 22, but in reality u don't stop growing completely until you're AT LEAST 27.

I'm sure that IGF 1, which is 10x more powerful than HGH CAN b the precursor 2 growing sum more inches in the long run. Which is found mainly in soy products, and dairy.

It's been said that soy increases estrogen while decreasing testosterone, but ey I NEED these inches by ANY means necessary!

BTW, You recover in 8 or 9 mts.

  • @FashionRawkz MY cousin did not do it to be tall it was due to motor accident, his always in pain but i guess its not abt the ilizarov but the infection, he suffered from poor medical doctors, and they claim they are specialist ideally 6mons the bones should be growing, but it's been 1 year 8 months false promises by the doctors.. :( sadly my best buddy still waiting..

  • @aizie27 where did ur cousin got his surgery?

  • I was 3 foot 4 inches tall at age 7.....my father built a stretcher for me....attached it to my head and waist and then to the bottom of my feet. By the time I was 13 I was 7 foot 6 inches tall. I now play basketball every day in the hood with my Hommies.

    Thanks Dad!!

  • I am seriously thinking about getting this done but just so i can grow an extra 4 or 5 inches. Do you know if they can do this surgery on both legs to help people grow?

  • After having fixator for 3 years I wouldn't recommend that, it is not a pleasant experience..

  • @andy4676 it sure isnt..

  • had one on my right leg for a year. it was a real bitch, but the pain and suffering was worth it. would never have been able to walk if i hadn't worn one to regrow deficient bone.

  • iron man

  • I have one of these things on right now but it's off in a month.. I fucking hate it

  • Had this one when I was 5, my mom had to hold me down to clean the pins: and experience I wpn't forget :(

  • What exactly is limb lengthening ??

  • i have just had my taylor spatial frame removed from my right tibia. it was a ainful 8 months but my leg is now straight (the knee faced in with the foot straight) i had it turned by 25 degrees in just 11 days. :)

  • I use the same stuff; I have one on now and a side bar on my femur!! I had straightening and lengthening and her leg looks awesome; makes mine look horrible,

  • @96MeganBrooke why did u get ur legs straightening and lengthening? did u have knock knees? i have knock knees and want to get them straighten too.

  • Sterile?

  • @dmanganello Not hardly. Doctors are the worst offenders.
